    Hi this popped up in my feed, I lowered the suspension on one of these here in Auckland New Zealand last year for a customer front and rear, 27mm front, 24-28mm rear, $680.00 without new seals as it was a new bike. Customer was very happy with the result.

    I am considering purchasing the Desert X but the seat height worries me a bit. I had been wondering about the lower seat option with the low suspension kit accessory. Your video helps greatly in the decision making process. I believe I will go this route...Thanks for posting!

      Thanks for commenting.. I will post a second video shortly regarding the lower suspension… but basically I feel 100% more comfortable with the bike. Really transforms it. Go for it :) it’s a brilliant touring bike on the road! I can’t fault it now! I’m getting over 400kms on a tank … admittedly staying in the speed limit (100km/hr) and flat roads. I was getting 2.5 litres per 100km.

      You should check out my part two on the lower suspension - It shows you how much it actually lowers the bike.

    I just ordered the suspension lowering kit for my X, but I ditched the factory seats entirely because they are extremely uncomfortable for me.

    Great vid for all us 29” inside leg guys.
    Is it worth a drop of a inch on the forks?
    Many thanx from UK 🇬🇧

    hey thank you for informative video. I’ve been riding ktm 390 adv for little more than 1 year. got 8k km on it and I’ve been doing more offroad lately. I’m 170 tall and you know ktm seat height is 85. it was a little challenge for me in first couple weeks with it but now I’m used to it.
    I’m thinking about upgrading it to a Desert X, do you think I will be okay with just lowered seat?

    • @thefoxnz
      @thefoxnz  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately no … the seat alone made very little difference for me … it became way more obvious with the lowered suspension. The difference was going from tip toe to being on the balls of my feet.

    thanks for the video! i've been wondering how the lowered suspension kit works, did you try it with the stock seat? was thinking that would keep your knees stretched out just a bit more.....sláinte

    • @thefoxnz
      @thefoxnz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi … no haven’t tested it with the standard seat … it would mean it’s a cm higher. I found the knee angle ok with the lower seat … but every 20 mins or so I stand up which helps. I actually have my handle bars set to off-road position which makes it more comfortable when standing.

    i've ordered my lowering kit but what do they actually do? do they use spacers with the springs and do they just stick the new spring on? cheers mate

      Sorry for delay … but all the springs are replaced and you get the shorter side stand

      I have a similar in seam … and with reduced height is definitely more manageable. If you want an off-road bike they are all tall. You get used to it pretty quickly.

    Hi, is that a larger than standard screen? How’s the buffeting from it?

    • @Iron883NZ
      @Iron883NZ 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it’s the touring screen … and buffering is reduced … but there still is some buffering over 100kms per hour… below that is good and depends on direction and strength of wind.
