The Thar 5-Door has A LOT of changes to its design which may mean it can finally come to Australia, after Stellantis (who owns Jeep) sued Mahindra in Australia and stopped the 3-door Thar from coming. So should you buy the new 5-Door Mahindra Thar? Let's talk about that in today's review!!

My father bought the Mahindra Armada in 1999. It featured a 4 speed manual gearbox and that suv refused to die. We clocked 165000 km before parting ways. Broken roads/ slush / full load of 6-7 people nothing bothered it. Hopeful the new one is the same and lives up to the legendary name.
Same bro my father also bought mahindra Armada in 2000 till now is running fine and we have replace the piguet engiene fit with turbo engiene in the year 2019

The more choice the better 👍. I've got a Tank300 petrol ultra and it's solid. From what I've heard these Indian built cars are tough as nails. Lets hope they land here.

@@petervan7372 Boeing tried to cut costs by outsourcing software to graduates fresh out of colleges in India. The craft itself is built up from scratch in Renton. So yeah nah, it's not engineered by Indians.

The funny thing is, Mahindra will probably be around longer in Australia selling the Thar Armada, than Jeep themselves will be in Australia! Their sales are declining here year after year and there looks to be no fix to their situation. Positioning themselves as a premium brand, which they are not and price gauging Australian consumers with price increases, after price increases, though I did see they've reduced the price of the Grand Cherokee recently, which they've probably had to do reluctantly, hasn't helped their somewhat iffy reputation.
Mahindra would be onto a good wicket if they can land the Thar 3dr and 5dr here at a competitive price point, please don't get greedy and show up the likes of the Jeep Wrangler and Suzuki Jimny. The Jimny is also overpriced for what it is and Suzuki is becoming another company that likes to price gauge Australia consumers.
Only thing thats holding Mahindra back are Jeep's lawyers. (Lawyers=Fun suckers)

Sorry to say brother but our Indian car yt channels have already explained the history of it and why Mahindra thar is not sell in Australia, how these car's were made and how jeep took Mahindra to court for testing there car and were ready to launch there thar in international markets just because they have explained it in our native language (Hindi) which obviously you won't understand. So It doesn't means that Indian car channels does not know how to explain

I personally view Jeep in a different light since they took Mahindra to court. How weak of them, they couldn't beat their competitor and chose lawyers to do it for them. The Thar isn't even really a competitor given that it's IFS in front.. 😅

Actually, Mahindra bought Pininfarina a decade ago, so changing its design shouldn't be a big deal. The car engines are reliable, with just some minor electronic issues, which is common across almost all brands.
I wanted to get a single cab Ute/ tray back but they are not available now.? The short wheel base 3 door would be a great runaround with weekend fun…
you are wrong thar will get 2 engines first one is 2.0 litre TC petrol which produces 200hp and 380 nm of torque derived from xuv 700 and the second one is 2.2 litre TC diesel which produces 175hp and 450 nm of torque>>>>
You r wrong...in thar the mstallion tgdi petrol produces 150 hp and the mhawk diesel produces 130 hp....

A correction: Its gonna get the same two Scorpio N engines making 200hp-380Nm(2.0 Petrol) and 175hp-450nm(2.2 Diesel) instead of the current engines in thr Thar 3 door
6 speed manual btw and 185 bhp 450 nm or 172bhp 400nm torque. Stats were wrong

If they really want to target australia, they should make a version that is plugin hybrid even it is tiny like the Toyota hybrids. That way noveated lease can be taken advantage.
Novated leasing deals end in April 2025 (I believe?) so by the time this gets here, it will be too late ☹️

@@wax333 Yes they are working on it! For your kind information scorpio has scored 5stars in global ncap. Just because not having ADAS level 2 makes it an unsafe car. You should read the ancap reports in which they have also said that scorpio is a heavy built car and if the collision happens between scorpio and another car, the other car will get more damages. And i guarantee you that if scorpio gets ADAS level 2 in its facelift version it will score 3-4 stars safety ratings in ancap.
I would be interested in the 3 door. Is that coming?
As I would use it as a daily driver I would opt for the petrol model and take advantage of the cheap day, weekly petrol cycle.
As I personally would like plain dials for my speedo , etc and ditch the screens. I wouldn't need all round cameras either, especially on a 4x4 I will be driving in the bush, but thats me. Keep it as simple as possible with high tech engine, yeah I'd be in.
Just have a look at what Royal Enfield have done with motor cycles. Cheap, reliable and improving with every model. The indians and Chinese are improving leaps and bounds at a price people are willing to pay.

The bigger output petrol & diesel expected. No RWD initially, only 4WD for here . I'd take one without any hesitation.

People who were predicting That the name will be armada were really fools, Armada was back in 90s and early 2000s (replaced by bolero) was a 7 seater suv , so Mahindra may plan a 7 seater thar in future, which may be impossible

Jeez those are some incredibly weak engine specs. Definitely competing with the jimny for uninspiring performance. Other than looks i wouldn't say there's much comparison between this and a wrangler. Hopefully they bring it to Australia though. Competition is always better for the customer.
Torque is what matters
Man that car is already hella light and those torque figures are enough if someone is looking for off-road and mild onroad, it isn't built for pavement princesses like which most Jeep owners associate with.

Idk about how Australia s market price works. Bt in India what keeps the low price of Thar is the wheel base under 4m (or 5m, I am a bit confused) anything greater than that charges 40% tax. So let's see how spacious it is as a proper 4 door car.

So here is my story my grand after bought a mahindra armada in 2002 and it have done 28,000,00 in disel he was a driver and used to drive it in the firest villages in india just think this veiche have done 70% of it's life on bare grounds not any aspalt road and it's running fine until now be it sludge,water,rocks uneven roads it never stopped no servicing no problem it will run just with fuel and only want oil change it's definitely a great vehicle

Power numbers are not correct…. 1.5L petrol and diesel may or may not come as well with 130BHP and 120 BHP…. 2.2L Petrol and Diesel will definitely come with 200BHP & 185BHP respectively …. 2.2L diesel also comes currently in Thar 3 door in low power tune of 150 BHP
Armada is more legendary name in India than Thar. The Armada was the OG people mover in India and was the go anywhere car earlier.
Rear suspension will more likely be based on the Watts link from the Scorpio N.
Mahindra suvs are good but recently many cases came forward that mahindra suvs are creating fire and leakage issues and the dealers are blaming the customer and no proper servicing ...even a recent case of fire ... acustomer bought mahindra thar suv and and drive just 250 km and it caught fire but refused to give any insurance or service frm Mahindra telling that they instal a rear cam that voilate warranty ..even if it was bought frm Mahindra's own dealership . now customer is paying monthly emi but dont have any vehicle it burnt out .....these type of many cases are reporting and even if it comes in social media it was deleted by mahindra delaers .... first look around the drawbacks and negative reviews and cases then goes to positive .both are very important tomorrow this may happen to you also
