For those who don't know, 2 Jeep families have been running in parallel since the first Willy's Jeep was introduced in 1940's. One is the US family now owned by FCA/Stellantis and other is the Indian family owned by Mahindra. Mahindra started out in 1949 by assembling Willy's CJ2A under license. Then in 1953, they bought full rights to make, modify and sell Jeep CJ3B in their own name, in India. They even had a temporary license to use 'Jeep' brand name, which expired in late 1980's. So Mahindra has been continuously making and evolving Jeep based products since last 70+ years. Every Mahindra body on frame UV is an evolution of Jeep CJ3B. Unlike Jeep/FCA, Mahindra's focus has been on reliability, durability and being VFM. That's why FCA fears Mahindra. But with gen 2 Thar, Mahindra did copy the exterior aesthetics of Jeep Wrangler. Now both Thar and Wrangler are kind of cousins since both of them share a common ancestor in Jeep CJ3B. But despite the high demand, Mahindra cannot sell the Thar anywhere else in the world. Because they own rights only in India. They could have done things differently, but they chose to copy Wrangler's design aesthetics, which is not agreeable.
Warranties and ADRs will make it start at $35k in Australia. Provided it can even pass. The Jeep and Landrover have proper balljoints, this has just got stub axles like a Hilux. Not much cop offroad.

@@2075anantCan you break that down for me? Because Thar top spec is like ₹20 lakh sth right?
Jimny goes for like ₹18 lakh?
@@JohnHenkamGangte That 20lk price is before on road costs. Depending on the state here in India, you have to pay 2-3 lk more (Taxes, Insurance, Reg. etc). That 18lk price for the jimny is drive away pricing and again, it varies by state. In my state, the top spec Jimny with AT costs 17lk drive away. One advantage the Jimny has that because its is less than 4m in length, has less than (or equal to) a 1.5 litre engine and costs less than 20lk before on road costs, its in a lower tax bracket. If you match the spec of the Jimny (Petrol, AT and similar (or more) features) with the MX3 AT RWD variant of the Thar, they are both exactly the same price drive away. (Where I live at least)
Jimny did not do well in India they priced it higher than Thar in India, Super Flop product now they are giving heavy discounts on jimny the top trim of jimny in india costs around 26,646 AU $
No jimny is priced from 14000USD to 16000USD but thar 3 door is ranged from 12000USD to 19000USD includes RWD and 4x4 but jimny only 4x4 but tha 4x4 starts from 17000USDr@@JohnHenkamGangte

Will definitely buy 1 definitely need in Aus,will get rid of current rubicon 😅
I haven't seen any other competition in India to Mahindra..when it comes to rugged cars.... This is is built in the DNA of Mahindra...
Its unbelievable how old thars (and Mahindra boleros) are used in some of the hilly areas in india. Stripped to barebones with focus on tyre grips and frame strength and 4x4, absolutely minimum for passenger comfort, but runs for years as it's so repairable with adequately powered and long lasting diesel engines.
@@satheesht Mahindra got into people heart because of their reliable MHAWK diesel engines
I want this with steelies
Steel rims?
They have it in mx1 varient
Definitely want to see this in Australia. We've been putting off getting a new car and I'm kind of desperate. If they don't release it over here soon I'll have to get something else and I REALLY don't want to. This is exactly what I've been after for YEARS!
Don’t get too excited about the price. Just because it’s cheap in India doesn’t mean it’ll be cheap in western countries. Look at Royal Enfield motorcycles, they can be purchased for half the price in India compared to the West
Aus and ind have fta. There's pretty good chance taxes on it might reduce but it's upto mahindra whether to launch it in aus.
@@AnjaliApta-qt1iw did u mean economic cooperation and trade agreement?

The XUV 700 sells for cheaper in Aus than in India though…
As an Indian I would definitely prefer Mahindra Roxx. Mahindra engines are bulletproof
If I take the mid spec model at $29K AUD, add shipping, compliance costs, GST and on-roads it may be available at around $40K AUD. If Mahindra can sell it for around $34K It will sell like crazy.
Don't think that's how it gonna playout coz the XUV700 cost less in australia than india
Mahindra pays way lot of taxes in India than Oz… the savings on the tax can absorb all the shipping, dealer cost & other launch expenses.. it might be cheaper than in India like the XUV700’s
that 29k is including 48 % tax. so the price is around 20k before taxes which apply only to cars sold in india.
It will be more cheaper in Australia then india
India taxes very high on everything

Excited about the Thar ROXX from Perth WA!!!
The cream interior on an off roader just rubs me off in a bad way ngl. Even if it is being used for day to day things, maintaining that interior would be so much cumbersome.
That's why the 3 door version has a washable interior. That's meant for hardcore off-roading and this is mainly meant for urban SUV users with occasional off-roading. That's why interiors are given a little more premium feel
Yeah me too wish they gave a dual tone interior bit i dont mind i jave already booked one i will change the interior aftermarket
Only i get the thar once they say 1.5 years of waiting period 😮💨

Yeah, but IFS is better for on-road use. In my opinion, I would rather have an ifs.
@@nathandsouza7104 you are correct in saying that. I guess it depends on what the buyers are intending on using it for
Mahindra recent car design are real good I was just watching BE6 and now this and not to mention their engine have always been reliable
Front and Rear Lockers?
mechanical diff Lockers only on the rear
I think its more natural competition is the gwm tank 300.
Front BLD (Brake Locking Differential) and rear Electronically locking differential.

@@MrJishnuTrue. But the presentation was very bad. It's an entirely new chassis than the 3 door. They managed to reduce NVH between 450 and 650 hz significantly, which is the main conversation range of humans. Means it'll be quieter inside with lower NVH compared to the 3 door. Also, they managed to reduce some 180 kgs of the frame while making it stronger and stiffer. Watts linkage is added plus a fully electronic power steering for better on road behaviour. A lot of improvements in the drive
There is one car we have which has front and rear diff lock known as force gurkha
Just because the change in dollar is lower amount doesn’t mean that’s what we will get it for by the time taxes are added .
I like the Suzuki but it's underpowered and expensive for what it is.
The 4x4 roxx variant is double the cost of Jimny XL in India. This video is not providing all the information.
4x4 Roxx will definitely cost 5 to 10 lack INR more onroad than jimny.
New Thar starting price 27lakh on road price will cost a few lakh more.
Longer wheel base more weight to booth with that they better be giving out power close to Jeep Wrangler or it will be a total flop car again in Indian market

Very true. I'd be very proud to call Thar the only Indian offroader. Yet they copied Jeep Wrangler again
JEEP WRANGLER is overpriced..it charges way much...
Warranties and ADRs will make it start at $35k in Australia. Provided it can even pass.
The Jeep and Landrover have proper balljoints, this has just got stub axles like a Hilux. Not much cop offroad.
Seen the pricing on new Jeeps here in Australia....$92K for the SWB 2 door. I thought for sure that was some kind of error...but no. $89K for the 4 door? Just what in the actual hell. You'd have to be functionally brain dead to spend that on a Jeep.
It's insane considering their reliability and their tendency to overturn in a front on
It's very good..... Thanks to velu samy and team..... Forget the rest, wait for Mahindra EVs,.... Get lost tesla......model y. Good job Mahindra BE evs...... Waiting soon.
