- While we've had good TMNT games, I personally think it'd be a stretch to claim anything has felt new. With TMNT: Splintered Fate, that finally changes in what is possibly the best TMNT game yet. Sure, it's not a high bar to pass in a series full of respectable tie-ins and the occasionally great one offs, but it's still something!

Shredder's Revenge may not have been anything "new," but it was the best iteration ever of the classic beat 'em up format Turtles game. I was very happy with it. Splintered Fate is about on the par with it for me. Both are really incredible.
Shredder's Revenge is the best TMNT game ever by a mile and the best beat em up ever. While this game is good too it's nowhere near as good as Hades.
@@smellywaffels1967 it’s better than Hades to me. TMNT universe is way more awesome than Hell, lol, and multiplayer makes this miles better for replay value with my sons.
Shredders revenge is still the best. I have no idea why there isn't a part 2 yet.... splintered fate is ok.
Shredders revenge and its dlc are addicting, seriously, if you take time to learn the little hidden mechanics, its the deepest beat em up system this side of Punisher. Its really the best beat em up game ever for turtles and non turtle fans alike.
@@ericg1100 Nah. I've played over 100 different Beat 'Em Ups in my day. Shredder's Revenge is fantastic, and I even think it's one of the Top 3 brawlers of all time, but the core gameplay mechanics are not very deep. It's quite simplistic when you compare it to stuff like Guardian Heroes, SoR4, Jitsu Squad, River City Girls, and others. Thankfully, it doesn't need deep mechanics to be incredibly fun.
I love it more when the turtles look similar. Donny isn't a total nerdy wimp here, he's still mad jacked. That's TMNT for me.

My God as a comic diehard, I absolutely love those two games, Personally think they are da best XMEN games ever outside of XMEN children of da atom game. I’d love a TMNT game in the style of an open world, Arkham Asylum/City type game. I love that style of combat in those games and I think TMNT would lend well to that style of game play. Even more so to the tandem combat like when you fought with Catwoman or Nightwing so you could pick which brother you want to be and fight along the brothers.
The Last Ronin videogame is going to be basically what you're asking for here. TMNT+Arkham City.
@@TomVCunningham respectfully, not really. I can’t stand the Ronin story line for TMNT. The story itself is a good one on its own but doesn’t make sense for the TMNT universe. Let’s take everything that makes TMNT great, the brothers….splinter…and take all that away. I want a game with all the characters, not one.
Mutants in Manhattan has parts of that but Ronin will be IT

TMNT 2012 and 2003 are the best turtle media in my opinion. It’s hard for me to pick which one is best. I really hope you watch it soon.

There's no better version of TMNT than the IDW comic version. That is peak TMNT.

There are some Versions of the turtles people would not even recognize if you just showed a picture...But as soon as you see the classic or the nineteen nineties , you know exactly what version of turtles those are...

and yet that's exactly what it feels like, and a boring one at that. It was a chore to get through.
I grew up watching the original TMNT and was not a fan of the Mutant mayhem movie. The 2012 series brought me back to enjoying the turtles again though. Good series.

The way the game shows you how the many different in-game currencies are earned on a single screen is fantastic! More games need to do this (maybe behind a spoilers tag)
The apple arcade version had bugs which caused you to lose all progress cloud save be damned... the bugs pile up once you start doing runs through portals

From the sites I’ve seen it shows the Nintendo shop, steam for pc (is slated for Q4 24) and the mobile he briefly mentioned at the beginning which by the way had a yr long exclusive! Crazy and it was horrible via mobile 😂 💜

Love this game been playing nonstop. Meteor shower is busted, all the shuriken powers are also busted, along with the stacks of ooze and flame. Raph can melt health bars with the tool, weapon skill combo as with the other characters. Donnys rage is insane, and the multi hits with Mikey are crazy. Great review!
New comic series coming out next week too. Good time to jump on the TMNT wagon if you never have. And a great time for us who already are!

I’ve only played it for a couple of days now but I am absolutely loving it! I like all of the turtle’s except for Leo tbh, but that’s already so much variety and the interactions/dialogue throughout the whole game is just so great if you’re a turtles fan. Very surprising little gem we’ve got here
I am a lifelong TMNT fan, I was there on day one and have been around for every iteration throughout the years. My favorite version to date is the 2012 series. It was fantastic.
Never liked the 2012 design either. Bought the complete series and I thought overall this is not too bad

So good. Easily a 9 out of 10 so far. A lot of tmnt love went into this one.
I love Hades, but this game is up there for me. Of course because I'm biased to the TMNT theme. I thought the story and interactions also helped motivate you to keep pressing especially early on.
This is fantastic but I'm sorry sir a top down beat em up will always be simpler mechanically than a side scrolling beat em up. Shredders revenge/turtles in time will always be better... Plus rogue like just makes other genres worse. Great game though and very creative
I haven't stopped playing this since it came out on the switch. Great roguelite that is going to blow up once it hits PC. So much depth including legendaries that are really hard to get but so amazing once you do.

I was under the impression games like this and Hades aren't Rogue-like but rather Rogue-lite as their is past run attribute building etc. True rogue-like are one run and done and don't build on past playthroughs etc. Am I bonkers?
You are correct, but most people don't know that or just slip up what they said. "Rogue-like" is just the one most people hear so they use it for both genres, but yes, you are 100% correct. Also its called "rogue"-like because the genre is based on an old game called 'rogue' that did the permadeath system with no permaupgrades, thus "rogue-like" is game like rogue lol
I had already pre-ordered it and I am enjoying it. But I do wish the characters that you meet in runs would go back to the layer to talk to and see it fill up more.
Shreddeds revenge is a love letter to the fans and the amount of charters and content with the dlc still puts it at #1 for me but this is a close #2
I really hope the difficulty options are generous enough to play w my kids...
It's a game you are meant to lose over and over but you upgrade as you play. Itll make sense once you play it

The game has a story mode that makes it pretty easy, you should be able to complete the story with your kids after a few runs :)

BRUH!! Listen. Ill be 40 next month. I have watched every iteration of tmnt possible. 2012 is hands down the best! Its made for turtle fans. Art style aside its simply brilliant. U need to watch all of it
Gotta start on the TMNT franchise (tv series and games).
Looks cool, I’ll probably get it. I got SR and the CCollection. Wish the art had different emotional states so Mikey isn’t smiling like a goofball while doubting his ability as a ninja, for example. But ah well. I’m glad we made it out of the TMNT drought of the late oughts to twenty teens.

I been playing Hades since day one and just finally beat 32 heat 😂😂 (I'm not that great of a gamer) and this is such great homage to both Turtles and Hades.
It's hard. I can't wait for some of my friends to finally play with me, looks like it's so much fun with more people.

2012 TMNT is the ultimate example of people judging a book by its cover. People refuse to give it a chance even though it's one of the most well-written stories to ever come out of the entire franchise.
.....but then you completely lost me when you were talking about how the voice work turned you off of the series, but that the voice work is one of the things you love about the original series. That was when it became obvious that it's nostalgia talking. The voice work and acting of the '80s cartoon has aged very poorly, whereas the voice direction for 2012 was done by Andrea Romano. It doesn't get more top-tier.
Man, this game is kind of f'ing hard!! I like the challenge, but there are moments when the AOE damage that some enemies do is WAY overpowered. I play solo, and I'm having some real issues finishing gauntlet challenges. I really wish there was an lobby system for multi-player.
The 2012 show is really great. Watched it with my kids, i was a fan of the 80s cartoon - and the homage, the love, the references in the 2012 show were clear. Then they had the audacity to go multiverse and cross over into the 80s show. Robert Paulson who voiced raph in the 80s does the 2012 Donnie, so when 80s raph meets 2012 donnie... Yeah there's classic winks and nods. Got a bit crap when they went to space.

2003 for sure. Great blend of humor and action with great animation.
Honestly, I'm just glad we're getting a game that both seems to be made with care and isn't just a side-scroller beat'em up.

You need to watch the tmt from 2012 and the one from 2018. Trust me, in my opinion, those two are the best in the ninja turtles series.

Sweet X2 Frickin Hades is my favourite game ever with dead cells ,tied for first place, and I'm also not big on the TMNT mutant mayhem deal, and I actually like Seth Rogen quite a lot. Anyway , new fan right here bud. Cool game too

With this TMNT game and that Hello Kitty AC-like game escaping Apple Arcade to Switch, I would love for Sonic Dream Team to release on Switch as well.

I just wished there were more villains and stages and enemy types but the base game is very solid.
I like the format, but why elemental attacks instead of more advanced ninja moves? Characters cannot even jump

Good game and good review. To post my personal flaws with the game, the graphics are blurry which is a Switch problem in general, the gameplay while good is a little too slow, the hits you take don't have much impact so sometimes you're losing health and don't even know it and depending on which version of a boss you fight they can be really easy or really cheap. A solid game but Shredder's Revenge is still a lot better.

Doesnt really get the hades part right. That is just a bad comparison other than the camera angles. It appears to have the worst part of meta progress. Again, Ill get it on pc for sure.
This game is a lot of fun. I had to connect my controller to play on my phone because the touch screen is not it for this style. I welcome the Switch version but maybe they should have left this one at $10!!!

Pretty challenging solo for a tmnt game
What was the TMNT on ps3, it was really short, it was 3rd person but you could bounce between turtles and do combos. It was actually fantastic.
