Only four levels huh? Dat sounds like longeivity is lacking. For $26 sounds like a cheap cash grab. I'll wait until it's on sale. No wonder this game is only switch.
Do you know if it has graphics settings that you can turn down? Does the performance suffer on older Switches? Lag via online co-op? I play on an older Switch, might be first generation.
Anybody else getting game breaking bugs in multiplayer? About 30 minutes into a run, getting a crash on ability select (seems to happen when you’re close to getting every available ability for one power type). Game crashes and when you re-load, everybody except player 1 loses every item / power up received.
Ninja Turtles are so special to me as they were something my brother who passed away used to love with his whole heart (and we enjoyed together) This combined with the roque like game play and just how awesomely fun this game looks, makes this a no brainer for me!! Totally picking this one up! Great review guys ♥️😃
As an 80s kid raised in the 90s, the Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles have been my absolute favourite for a good 34 years. It warms my heart to see them getting so much love as of late, especially at 40 years young! I have been waiting for this review of Splintered Fate with bated breath. Especially since the last multiplayer game (I'm looking at you, Wrath of the Mutants...) was very lacklustre. I was so reluctant to put any more money into the franchises game branch after that travesty. This has renewed my interest and is definitely going to be on my purchase list. You have no idea how happy this video made me. Truly. Thank you :)
The Turtles are no stranger to timeline or multiverse shenanigans, they've been kinda baked into the lore since the 87 cartoon (my jumping on point, like so many 80s kids!) so seeing them trapped in a time fracture with basically unlimited variations is a great story reason to get the Turtles into a roguelike! I saw this trailer on the April Indie World and thought: "Oooh, I didn't know we needed this in our lives, but we clearly did, thank you!" Plus multiplayer, an odd thing to add to a Hades-type roguelike, but a necessity for Ninja Turtles games since the Konami belt-brawler, so I'm glad to see it's wisely included! Also, picking out one of the four brothers is just like picking out your weapon in Hades, so again, this is a place where this format works great for these characters, or vice versa. COWABUNGA!!
Even before the 87 cartoon, it even goes back to the original Turtles from the comics and their reoccurring adventures with Renet battling the villainous Savanti Romero.
This is a pleasant and welcome surprise. I love TMNT and hate when they drop weak games using their IP to attract sales. Looks like this is one of the good ones though. Def gonna try this with my son. Thanks Glen!
Been playing some online multiplayer with my friend and we didn't experience anything but pure awesomeness. It's got the charm of an OG turtles beat-em-up with the RPG elements and character progression of a roguelike.
Awesome game, if you love tmnt and hades gameplay, it's a great pick. Unfortunately the online mode works with a session code, no way to play with randoms... and that's a missed opportunity there.
Can't budget this in yet but will definitely be a future purchase! So glad and relieved to see that this was received better than the most recent turtles release and am curious to see how the next turtles title does when it drops in October. Cheers for the review Glen and SwitchUp 🎉 I'm looking forward to mowing down enemies as Raphael!
Thanks for the review! I've been waiting for this one for a while! It seems to be a fresh take on the franchise, adventuring outside the more usual beat'em-up genre. I also love that the designs are based on IDW comics' TMNT era, and particularly it seems, amazing artist Matheus Santolouco. Can wait to try it!
If this ever comes out physically it’s a day one. Until then I’ll just wait. I love the resurgence of the Ninja Turtles lately. It makes me so happy. 😂😂😂
@@Plut0kin I’m old school. I just prefer owning a game physically than digitally. The thought of actually owning the game helps. Also I can sell it when I don’t want them anymore.

Been a TMNT fan since I grabbed copies off the comic shelf during the original run long before a film or a toon was even a dream of Laird's and Eastman. Thrilled to see a game of that IP do so well and be treated with respect. Kudos.
Update: This game is crazy good, can't stop playing. It's not clearly explained how the challenge system works, Gauntlets, Astrals and Bandanas. Basically the number means the most you ever got in a run, unlike the Shredder claws and Karai gems. - Beat 6 Gauntlets in a single run, get 6. - Accept 13 Portals and beat Shredder, get 13 Bandanas for that turtle and 13 Astrals. These can't be farmed. At first it WOULD seem like a pretty daunting task, but the game gets crazy easy the more you power up everything. Raphael becomes a BEAST. Just stick the Dodge Artifact on him and get either Ninja dodge or the Light Astral ability that increases Dodge for inflicting status on enemies. You can literally stand in place and beat Gauntlet Shredder like this. Bonus if you get the Legendary Astral/Water ability that restores health on attack. I'm still missing 3 artifacts for 70 Stockman enemies, Spend 1300 coins, destroy 200 crates and lose 5 runs despite clearly having done them. I found that playing online and then starting a single player run unlocked some dialogue and artifacts for Mikey, but it only happened once.
Outstanding game, truly. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my wallet) I've already beaten it on Apple Arcade; are there really no added stages or characters or anything added to this version over the "free" iPhone version?
@@SwitchUpYt 100%. But imagine how good dlc would be. So many cast for extra character, and 4 bosses are so low compared to the line up for villians both boss and minions. Maybe in a sequel.

Great review. I really wish devs would stop thinking that roguelikes need meta progression.
