    I remember playing Halo CE back in 2001 and thinking that we had hit the peak of graphics. I was blown away by it, truly. At that time, Halo was the best looking game I'd ever seen and probably was. It was more than just an amazing looking game though, it had an outstanding campaign and the gameplay was just so good. Many games released today look jaw dropping graphically speaking but the parts that really matter are trash. Life like graphics dont make a game good, its gameplay.

    • @nonfungiblemushroom
      @nonfungiblemushroom ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You nailed it. While UE5 is obviously amazing, the biggest issue I have with games is AI and the lack of "smoothness" still. It's very hard to make an FPS feel cinematic the way they do in the gameplay trailers, especially with a controller. IRL, gameplay is always kind of chunky and unflattering by comparison. Everything, including the player, moves at a constant speed like it's gliding, there's no friction or bounce. No variability. And AI really needs to be improved. Most modern games look really cool but the enemies and NPCs behave like they did in games 10+ years ago.

    • @suicidesquadie7990
      @suicidesquadie7990 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nonfungiblemushroom You think you want good AI, but the second you have to deal with it your going to be so mad and probably lower the difficulty. I want better AI, but I also don't want the AI to bend it up in me at the same time. Game still needs to be fun. More importantly the directional audio in most games that it matters in is DOGSHIET. Nothing worse than hearing something dangerous coming and not being able to really tell where it is coming from. Graphics are great, next breakthrough is in sound, and so many people won't even know it because graphics=good.

      that's because the people who make games are committees, run by informed financial decisions.

    I've bummed myself out about The Day Before at this point. Based on what I've seen/read up on, the developers have had a tendency to leave or abandon their games as half finished, and buggy messes. I hope they've switched up their style, but I'll definitely be waiting for some solid gameplay and reviews before I try it out.

      And of course the huge red flag: Partnering up with Groove Street, another studio known for rushing out GTA Trilogy with a total lack of quality control.
      Oh, and an other issue: They are proud to have Vin Diesel on board, known from Fast & Furious...
      For real? They should have opted for Vin Diesel, known from The Chronicles of Riddick.

    • @mickyb.8014
      @mickyb.8014 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well said Marshall, I'm a huge fan of single player story mode games, but sadly a lot of games are online based..I recently payed for and got my friend to dload and install granturismo 6 onto my PS4, but I'm super pissed cos without having internet access (which I don't have at home) you can't play the main story of the game (only playable is "arcade mode", which sucks). If I'd only known this before wasting money
      (which I don't have much of) buying the damn game...The only plus is, I now know to check whether a game can be played in story mode without web access so I won't ever waste money again buying a game I can't enjoy / play properly.

    I will say, even with graphics improving, I hope we still stick to creative aesthetics here and there and not just realism. I greatly enjoy shooters and racing sims, however indie developers have made some of the most beautiful and fun games I have ever played in my some 20 years of gaming. I'd like to see that carry on with fidelity into the next generation of UHD gaming. UE5 looks great for bringing tons of life into smaller projects.

    I hope that destructible environments is gonna be more of a thing where it can be applied. I remember back when Gears 3 was announced they were saying you were gonna be able to blow up walls to get to opponents on the other side and that would've been awesome but they didn't implement it into the game. I was super disappointed.

    Idk, I really liked the simplicity of Senua 1, it was refreshing, very straightforward game. I would love more combat options and enemy types, but what I don't want is RPG elements. If 2 is "big" enough, a map might be ok, but that's it. I don't want to be spending time looking at clothing, potions and abilities, that's what made the first one great. I could just experience the story, interspersed with good puzzles and combat

    • @Drstrange3000
      @Drstrange3000 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be really unfortunate. One of my biggest gripe with current gaming is adding RPG mechanics to everything.

    A lot of people say this level of graphics will make gameplay and story bad. I thinks with UE5 it's the opposite. It has made making this good graphics easy, and a lot less time consuming. So they potentially could make really good graphics with really good gameplay in less time. Also, it's going to make looking good so mundane that they can't rely solely on good graphics to sell their games and they have to do something special to stand out.
