Lol, I've been following this closely and commenting about it. I think they're testing the waters and want to eventually stop working outright. They're already having other people write most of these videos, so the next step would be the voiceovers. Some youtubers have already done that, just not with AI but with other people reading the scripts instead

The one from Assassin's Creed Origins was not just strange, but also historically 'accurate'.
It is based on a legend that the Persian Emperor Cambyses (Son of Cyrus the Great) sent an army to conquer Nubia after his conquest of Egypt. The army never reached, never returned and they got lost in the desert.
This was essentially Bayek finding that undead lost army after 500 years under the desert sands.

The man bat was a legitimately terrifying jump scare because it's just totally unexpected in an action game like Arkham Knight. I loved it!
Despite many of Valhalla's downsides, one of the best parts about it were the mysteries like the lady of the lake.
Nearly every mystery in the game was unique and thoroughly enjoyable. More so because they were no longer fetch quests requiring a great distance to travel. They were all tied to a small area and well written. I definitely want to see that kind of side mission in future AC games or open-world games in general. It was totally unexpected but welcome from the repetitive nature of Ubisoft open-world games.

I never found him until he was chasing me. I panicked and sprinted out of the sewers- which was not easy since it's a freaking maze in there. Thankfully wasn't doing the Main Quest, was just curious. If you're willing to go down the Skyrim modding rabbit hole, there are quite a few that wallow in creepy and unsettling. The Vicn trilogy is a great source, especially Vigilant and Glenmoril, with Unslaad being the only one that's more on the sad side than creepy, though it's also unsettling in a different way. There are a couple of Slender Man mods out there of course. Darkend has dread atmosphere in spades, though be warned it's also very difficult.

I've seen a lot of people mention they find the Gary vault scary but I only found it funny and kind of a relief from vaults full of ghouls or whatever. Speaking of ghouls, though, there was that one vault in NV full of ghouls and some of the best weapons in the game plus tons of ammo and the unique carbine, the All-American and the pulse gun. Anyway, that vault is radioactive af, so my stress levels were through the roof managing my rads while trying to not die to the ungodly amount of ghouls. It doesn't help that in NV, ghouls can sometimes say actual words between all the snarling, which makes them creepier, imo.

Red Dead 2 is full of unsettling moments like these. Almost every abandoned house is creepy, and every town has creepy NPCs. The slow pace and realistic graphics make it more terrifying

The side quest in Hogwarts Legacy called "Minding Your Own Business" is creepy as all hell! The music, the tension that is built up, I was constantly on my toes throughout the quest - easily the best quest in the game. Pretty shit they made it a timed PlayStation exclusive, so a lot of people haven't experienced it yet.

There's a quest where an entire village is wiped out by spiders. Perhaps not quite as creepy, and mine bugged out a tiny bit so that the vendor there would still talk even though they were invisible or whatever, made it a bit silly instead of dead silent, besides the spiders.

Okay Falcon that was pretty unexpected that you selected fallout 3 instead of 4 for creepy encounters because 4 has pretty disturbing missions. Not just one serial killer but 2 to begin with and many more regular and lovecraftian horror material

Joker does the same thing to Batman after the man bat scares you, in another random roof, and then he mocks on you for it hahaha. I love him

Studies done decades ago found that bathing rooms in red light would make people tense and anxious, and green would make people paranoid and jumpy. Blue light, meanwhile would calm and eventually depress people.

Arkham Asylum and City blueprinted a lot of what was to come. Rare games, gamechangers like these!

I've played thru Cyberpunk at least 5 or 6 times now and that cyberpsycho is the only fight in the game I have to psyche myself up for. Not only is she scary but it's probably one of the hardest fights period other than maybe Smasher.

I absolutely love skyrim and continue playing it to this day, over a decade now..and not once have i came across that freak in the Rataway.
The fact you can still discover new things in the game is absolutely mind blowing..and the mods is chefs kiss to the extension of it.

Brin in "Horizon Zero Dawn". Sends you on the "Acquired Taste" quest. He's incredibly creepy. Teeth stained from machine fluids he's been drinking. Headpiece hiding his eyes. His unsettling voice. Yeah, he's a real treat.
