Right now, I’m stuck in an endless loop in Starfield, spawning into an ambush that absolutely obliterates me every time and in seconds. I’m not lowering the damn difficulty. I beat Ms. Pac-Man for fuck’s sake, impossible is what we used to call not-boring.
@alexbanks8429 tht happened to me in Skyrim once. I saved by a dragon so I could restart n defeat it if I died. But after the first time I died, instead of being far enough away so I could restratagize it spawned either it or me right on top of each other. I couldn't even run away from it with one of my voices. Thts when I learned to keep multiple saves.
The thing that annoyed me about Forza Horizon 5’s difficulty was that the highest difficulties didn’t even really make the AI better, it just made their cars faster than they should be for the class of vehicle being used. At least when you’re only driving class B cars and lower.
Also, sometimes you really just wanna drive a slow car with a cool build because of the sound or because it's how you would build it in real life, and the game keeps telling you to lower the difficulty. Like, I am not bad, but I'm not winning races with a C class Eclipse
It’s the entire reason why I quit playing. It didn’t get more difficult it just implemented gta catch up physics. I had a plain old 72 Camaro keep up with my Ferrari fxx evolution 😂
In RE4 Remake, the merchant calls you out for getting all weapons to the max level in a single save, he says something like “unbelievable! you got them all! Everybody needs a hobby, I guess”
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic deserves an honorable mention for swoop racing. Basically, each “race” is a time trial, except the AI is scripted to always beat your first two attempts, regardless of how good they were. This also means that if you make a frame-perfect run on your first 2 tries, it becomes literally impossible to beat the AI’s time. Normally, swoop racing is a side activity, but the first race is a mandatory story mission early in the game that uses the same mechanics. In other words, it’s entirely possible to hardlock yourself out of the _entire game_ by being too good at swoop racing.
It got changed to one attempt. I've played Kotor recently and you only lose the first race, second one finishes the story. It's still possible to get locked, but much more difficult as most players will have a rusty first run, and then do well in the second after that first practice run.
There's also the "birthday party" in Borderlands 3, but I'm not totally sure if that counts. One of your playable characters from the first game, Mordecai, has befriended a little girl he rescued at some point or another, taught her how to shoot, etc, and today's her tenth birthday. Yaaay. He asks you if you'd go to her party with him. Yeah, why not. Only when you get there, the kid's father is there telling you she died like last week, but she'd be so thrilled to know you're all here for her party. He's arranged some "party games" based on stuff she was the best at; there are pieces of cake scattered around that you can eat because apparently she was amazing at speed eating birthday cake; there's a set of targets set up you can toss grenades through because I guess she was really good at that too. If you beat her records at this stuff, her dad will give you her favorite gun, and him and Mordy will make you feel like garbage for it. Nobody says so until after, but letting all her records stand has him give you the gun anyway.
@@ShockInazuma yeah, it's kind of like Claptrap's birthday bash in 2; not actually difficult, but a major bummer and not anything you're likely to wanna sit through.
Honorable mention to the secret achievement in CoD WaW "Go Get Some Sun" which you would get for reaching the highest level of prestige, which is basically indirectly telling you to stop playing and go outside just like the Jurassic World one. Honestly I never reached the last prestige level in any CoD except this one... but to be fair, I only got it because I landed in a Zombies lobby with a modder which unlocked all the achievements for everyone in the game.
I've always hated the "rubber banding" function that a lot of racing games have. It's not so much that the games are calling you out for being good, but it's definitely a way to create artificial difficulty. I've spent all of this time building up a car that should blow the doors off of everything else on the track, but if I get too far ahead, the AI opponents magically appear right on my ass.
I mean...if you want that type of experience play on Easy Mode where it doesn't exist? Rubber Banding in Racing Games is the Equivalent of Enemies being able to find you in FPS Campaigns. Sure, you could have stealthed across the map and gotten to the campaign objective...but its and FPS, you are there to shoot at peoole...and with Racing Games what are you there for? Wait for it...Racing People. Without Rubber Banding, it turns into a Time Trial because the first time you make an AI Crash, they are never catching up.

Their's a line in Skyrim on the Daedras best friend quest where if to talk to Clavicus Vile and tell him that you want more power he'll say "Really? Power? You're a dragonborn; you already have more power than most people who aren't immense, fire-breathing monsters, You're almost as powerful as me"

6:00 about enjoying a unfair fight: I always have to think about "art of war" basically saying "if you find yourself in a fair fight, you are really bad at tactics"
Inscryption has a fairly similar thing in the first act. It's laid out sort of like a rogue like, so you run through the first act a few times before you reach the end. If you replay after getting the play down, you can start to kick the first boss' ass pretty quick. The game will literally pause for a second, say this is happening too fast, and change your current battle to something unwinnable. Not just unwinnable, but cartoonishly so.
4:09 (Infamous Second Son) - I am so happy I found out the game's name again, back when my dad bought a ps4, it was one of the games that came with it and it was the first ps4 game I ever played, we eventually got rid of the ps4 (including the games) so I gradually forgot about them, I only remembered the main character's design and the amazing particle effects (yeah I used to geek out about those a lot and tbh still do, lmao-) I was annoyed that I wasn't able to remember the name, now that I know it, I can finally rest easy😂

I swear one time I was playing Dead Space 2, (I hadn't died or been injured much)and right when you're going through the tunnel to get to the Ishimura. A brute burst through some boxes for you to fight. That one time it morphed into two brutes, I was ecstatic! I had already beat the game twice on hard Difficulty and it had never done that. Might have been a glitch, but I feel games should have more surprises like that.
I remember many years ago when I was playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered, I was trying to get the platinum trophy. I had to run that training course in under 30 seconds. It was so difficult to do and took me probably more than an hour for such a short thing. You bringing that up and showing a clip of it gave me PTSD
Me personally, I clocked that F.N.G. course in 17 seconds on the first try using just the ACR and M9 Baretta. It takes accuracy and speed to nail below 30 seconds, and if you can utilize the trick of snapping quickly to new targets, even a second one behind the primary, you can get impressive results. I also did this on PS4, mind, so my reflexes are on par with PC.

OG Homeworld had an auto-difficulty adjustment built-in. If you were doing particularly well (end the mission with more units / resources) the next mission would have more opponents / less resources available to collect
With number 13 it's basically the Forza games in general. Basically giving you the option to ramp up the difficulty in exchange for earning more credits
In the popular game inscryption, if you make it too far in your first run, which you aren’t supposed to, the screen glitches and says “too fast” and covers the board with one of the strongest enemy’s in the game
Recently finished cod mw2 (old) in veteran difficulty and came to conclusion that the only difference in difficulty is how much your teammates will help you during the missions.
Shadow of war punishes you for being too good, they will create orcs that are near impossible to fight, you can't vault them, freeze them, impervious to beasts, not affected by Arrows, no affected by stealth.
Funny thing is on the Isaac example, you're NOT done after that achievement. You'll even be seeing it three times in total if you want to truly complete the entire game.
Actually MW2 campaign was one of the only COD campaigns that rewarded you for moving quickly, the original MW2 was the first cod I completed on veteran, which i was hooked on, then decided the next move would be WaW, which if you’ve completely you know the struggle. Grenades!!!!!!
The Undertale thing was frustrating because that's what I did on my first playthrough since I like using official names for characters. It's like a Zelda game punishing you for using the name Link.
In Satisfactory, if you reload your Rebar Gun weapon too quickly, you will shove the Rebar Ammo into the weapon so hard that your character will temporarily release the weapon and it will fall out of your hand because the game thinks you are cheating; I frequently accomplish this feat when exploring and fighting the wild aggressive creatures in Satisfactory, without cheating; because the Attack button will also reload the weapon.
I remember buying the very first Max Payne and somewhere, either the game manual or a PC Gamer review, warns you that "...if you breeze through it, the game raises the difficulty..." to match your skill or add some challenge. Don't remember the exact words but that was the gist. I was new to gaming back then and i found it peculiar that the game can actually "think" ??
There is also a PS2 game called "God Hand" and essentially the game revolves around the mechanic, if you're playing good, it will spike up the difficulty and vice versa. Pretty cool game ngl.
I feel, with some games, the difficulties are either a bit too easy, or a bit too hard (I know I could just try to get better). Like if there were something like Medium.5 🤷♂️
I'll add Inscryption to the list. There's an early boss fight you aren't supposed to be able to beat and if you do well you get swarmed by high level Grizzly Bear cards in an effort to block your progress IIRC
You forgot Metal Gear Solid, in the torture segment with Revolver Oscelot if you are too good at keeping snakes health up they game auto kills you. Also the boss fight with mantis if you perfectly reverse your controls without plugging the controller into port 2 (to prevent his "mind control" as intended) he freaks out about his powers being ineffective.
You know I like the option to be let out if the other team or whatever is just beating you into the dirt. Would help with the rage quit issue, not fix but help. And depending on how often that happens could also help with balancing. What makes me saltier than getting whooped, is getting punished because I was getting punished and needed to leave.
There is another game I can't remember the name of. But it stats with your character streaming a totally different game. Lose that game-in-a-game once, and it crashes, starting the actual game. But you can complete that game in a game. Which is awesome.
I like being OP in games. It’s what fun for me. Especially in games where you’re supposed to be known for being the best. Single player RPGs like Skyrim, Dragon Age, Witcher etc as well as JRPGs. It’s why I don’t support nerfing things or excessive patches in single player games. I’m the type who gets annoyed seeing people post in support boards about exploits in single player games saying “please fix”. If you don’t want to us it then don’t. Other people using exploits or farms has no effect on your experience.
On Serious Sam 4, when you’re progressing the level killing a bunch of monsters without dying or taken much damage, a notification pops up and said along the lines of “You’re crushing Mental’s horde! If you want, we recommend you to change the difficulty.” Funny thing is that you don’t wanna crank up the difficulty unless you’re very confident about killing way more aliens and a squishier Sam with less ammo reserves.
I remember playing a mission on the Witcher 3 where you offer up a sheep to a Forktail as bait. I busted my Ass trying to see what would happen, if I managed to finish the fight with forktail without the sheep dying. And at the end of the fight, Geralt says, “go frolick little Little sheep you earned it.” EDIT: The reason it was so difficult for me was because I was playing on the hardest difficulty.
That Madden notification comes from back in the day. Playing against others, before online play, if you were down 21-0 before the half, you HAD to give up the sticks. No option. The OG version of GET GUD.
7:33 Interesting thing about the Annoying Dog in undertale, it's supposed to be Toby fox. There was a secret door in the game that if you avoid touching all the usernames in the credits it will unlock and you can find the Annoying Dog or Toby Fox in the room sleeping on a rug with holes in it.
Honestly I don’t mind if the game suggests at the beginning what difficulty I should select if it’s done via the tutorial level. However I do not appreciate the game trying to adjust difficulty during the gameplay, I remember playing and suddenly the difficulty spiked. I initially thought it was just a skill issue at that time, then I checked to see what difficulty I was at and saw it was bumped up. Leave the difficulty where it’s at, leave the brightness and control sensitivity where I put it at too. Freakin hell.
Binding of isaac gets better. You can get 3 million percent. Which is getting the 1 million percent achievement on ALL THREE save files. This will unlock a special art display across all save files that does nothing, but if you get the dead god achievement too then the art changes and gets much cooler
Dont forget MW2 MP, where you get shadowbanned and cant play the game from a few days up to 2 weeks if youre too good and a bunch of noobs spam report you.
I’ve been accused of cheating on mw, it was great. I was playing with a friend who was lower level, so I was playing against noobs. But they were all in a room sniping, was I supposed to just not walk into the room and shoot them? I think not.
Another game that does this is an indie game called The Messenger. It's a simple achievement where if you get far enough in the game and beat a boss called Queen of Quills without dying a single time in the game, then you get an achievement called No Arguments Here.
PlayStation's VR Playroom had something similar to what was at the end of The Lost World. The platinum trophy had the description: "Well done, you got all trophies in THE PLAYROOM VR! Time to go outside and explore the real world!"
I can't help but feel like the Disco Elysium thing was intentional. The game is trying to make the player uncomfortable. Scolding the player for being a normie is exactly what a truly deviant game would do. It is trying to force you to be a deviant. I imagine, consequently, that it is popular with societal and political outliers.
This video just feels like someone complaining about how they play on easy mode and don't like when games tell them to "try playing it at its intended difficulty".
Falcon has a rambling sort of style with these lists that i absolutely adore. For some reason it comes off way funnier than most TH-camrs who have everything totally scripted. Keep it up

I love F5's difficulty scale/ increases. I'm playing on Unbeatable now and wins are so satisfying.
For the Forza Horizon game, they hit you with the “you are winning pretty easy” on Horizon 4 as well.
In a competitive shooter, the lobby will claim you're hacking if you're playing to well
Interesting mechanic
Quality Jeff Goldblum impresion, Falcon.
There is also a PS2 game called "God Hand" and essentially the game revolves around the mechanic, if you're playing good, it will spike up the difficulty and vice versa. Pretty cool game ngl.
Falcon’s narration gets me rolling on the floor as he goes through the list😂😂👌
I feel, with some games, the difficulties are either a bit too easy, or a bit too hard (I know I could just try to get better).
Like if there were something like Medium.5 🤷♂️
I'll add Inscryption to the list. There's an early boss fight you aren't supposed to be able to beat and if you do well you get swarmed by high level Grizzly Bear cards in an effort to block your progress IIRC
I just wanted to say that you guys make amazing content that always makes my day
0:44 No way that they used the wrong "your" instead of "you're" in an alleged professionally-made game.
I like how there's basically 2 schools of thought in the video, they either mock you for "wasting" your time or they stop you from having too much fun
Damn, even the game itself becomes a hater😂
2:53 this is so relatable, having one difficulty being too easy and the next too hard
How did you guys forget God Hand? The game litterally only gets more punishing if you avoid taking hits and perform too well lol
On Serious Sam 4, when you’re progressing the level killing a bunch of monsters without dying or taken much damage, a notification pops up and said along the lines of “You’re crushing Mental’s horde! If you want, we recommend you to change the difficulty.”
Funny thing is that you don’t wanna crank up the difficulty unless you’re very confident about killing way more aliens and a squishier Sam with less ammo reserves.
I remember playing a mission on the Witcher 3 where you offer up a sheep to a Forktail as bait. I busted my Ass trying to see what would happen, if I managed to finish the fight with forktail without the sheep dying. And at the end of the fight, Geralt says, “go frolick little Little sheep you earned it.”
EDIT: The reason it was so difficult for me was because I was playing on the hardest difficulty.
I've done that everytime playing. It's pretty fun
it's really fun to watch these kind of videos, thank you!
Hi, I love your videos, they are great, thank you for the content and work 🖖
Thanks
this video in particular is just hilarious, amazing work with this one lol love you guys
Thanks
That Madden notification comes from back in the day. Playing against others, before online play, if you were down 21-0 before the half, you HAD to give up the sticks. No option. The OG version of GET GUD.
I can’t imagine playing madden, and I can’t imagine why someone would play it while ALSO being trash lol
7:33 Interesting thing about the Annoying Dog in undertale, it's supposed to be Toby fox. There was a secret door in the game that if you avoid touching all the usernames in the credits it will unlock and you can find the Annoying Dog or Toby Fox in the room sleeping on a rug with holes in it.
i think they should have added god hand as well, that game literally punish you for being good at the game
Love seeing y’all talk about any of the Infamous games
Honestly I don’t mind if the game suggests at the beginning what difficulty I should select if it’s done via the tutorial level. However I do not appreciate the game trying to adjust difficulty during the gameplay, I remember playing and suddenly the difficulty spiked. I initially thought it was just a skill issue at that time, then I checked to see what difficulty I was at and saw it was bumped up. Leave the difficulty where it’s at, leave the brightness and control sensitivity where I put it at too. Freakin hell.
For me the game i have played the most is Valheim 1400 hrs just love the building aspect and how calm the music is just so worth it.
Hey, as a designer on Clay Fighter, I appreciate the shout out!
Binding of isaac gets better. You can get 3 million percent. Which is getting the 1 million percent achievement on ALL THREE save files. This will unlock a special art display across all save files that does nothing, but if you get the dead god achievement too then the art changes and gets much cooler
I haven’t heard anyone reference clay fighters in a LONG time. That game was ridiculous 😂
Dont forget MW2 MP, where you get shadowbanned and cant play the game from a few days up to 2 weeks if youre too good and a bunch of noobs spam report you.
Call of duty fell off so hard man
I’ve been accused of cheating on mw, it was great. I was playing with a friend who was lower level, so I was playing against noobs. But they were all in a room sniping, was I supposed to just not walk into the room and shoot them? I think not.
@NickReilly-iv6jg Come keep an eye on this tribe. Watch how well that works for you.
Love The Falcon!! "Maybe Drs. would do that." *Falcon Face* Gameranx rocks!
At times during Red Dead 2, it felt like the game was getting upset that I wouldn't crumble and fold despite my increasingly high bounty...😋
Hey, The Lost World is actually an amazing game from that time, graphics where above average for ps1 and the soundtrack is epic.
When do we see a leg or face reveal from Falcon
He shows his face at the beginning of the video, he is a talking falcon
Another game that does this is an indie game called The Messenger. It's a simple achievement where if you get far enough in the game and beat a boss called Queen of Quills without dying a single time in the game, then you get an achievement called No Arguments Here.
What game is this from 0:07
Looks like Green Hell not sure
Evil Within 2
@@LuisPerez-kr3kjthat game is at the 8 second mark but to be specific im saying the one where the guy is making a fire is green hell
The evil within 2
2k24
PlayStation's VR Playroom had something similar to what was at the end of The Lost World. The platinum trophy had the description: "Well done, you got all trophies in THE PLAYROOM VR! Time to go outside and explore the real world!"
I can't help but feel like the Disco Elysium thing was intentional. The game is trying to make the player uncomfortable. Scolding the player for being a normie is exactly what a truly deviant game would do. It is trying to force you to be a deviant. I imagine, consequently, that it is popular with societal and political outliers.
this is probably the most unsatisfying video ive ever seen
This video just feels like someone complaining about how they play on easy mode and don't like when games tell them to "try playing it at its intended difficulty".
Thank you Falcon you just made my weekend
Tbh this is every game for me 😈
Probably another Billie Mitchell
@@luisechevarria6930that the dude who cheated in like donkey Kong or somethin? I was just saying I’m good at games. Was meant to be silly
@@PaNDaSNiP3R I know brother I was being funny also....I bet your great at games dont get me wrong I just thought it was perfect timing yk?
The Goldblum impression was perfect!
0:25 thats not football
What is it then? Handball?
It is 💀
It's American football. Not normal football.
Infamous Second Son is an absolute masterpiece, especially for those who’ve been to beautiful Seattle. 😮
Falcon has a rambling sort of style with these lists that i absolutely adore. For some reason it comes off way funnier than most TH-camrs who have everything totally scripted. Keep it up
