Well…..I got mine after a tour in Kosovo / Bosnia 1999, 5 Iraq combat tours, 3 Afghanistan combat tours and a combat tour in Syria……retired in 2015. The rifle / suppressor is all to 2015 specs. Hit gallon milk jugs at 1,000 easy using AB-39 / 175 gr ammo. The stock is the McMillian A4 stock. Good luck trying to find one. Mine is still rattle canned….but worn. Semper USMC / Retired
Mcmillan did a limited run on A4 stocks a few weeks ago in both short and long action. I bought the long action option as I'm building a 300prc m40a5 clone. Basically a magnum m40.
Sweet rifle. I was thinking of doing something similar but in 6.5 Creedmoor and with the impact precision action. Both the Mcmillan and the Manners stocks look nice. The impact precision action has the recoil lug built into it like the Winchester model 70 and you can get prefit barrels for it so it's easy to change barrels. I love the look of the M40A5 but would much rather have 6.5 Creedmoor and being able to change barrels at home is a plus.
Fyi. Hornady Black is a target round, not recommended for hunting. Proper bullet expansion is hit and miss with the Hornady Black when shooting animals....dont ask how i know.
I have never had an issue using black. In my previous hunting videos I was black and it dropped what I hit. That sucks it hasn’t worked that great for you. What caliber were you using?
When SHTF and all you have is cheap FMJ bullets shot placement is going to matter. I too use match ammo to be specific Hornady ELD M and I too have dropped deer and coyotes 200-300 yards out. The military currently uses 175gr Sierra matchking BTHP and have scored kills from 800-1,200 yards away. Even further with the 300 win mag using 190gr bthp match ammo even further. If you shot a deer and it did not drop then it’s a clear indicator that no vital areas were hit and thus being a slower death. Therefore leading to a blood scan search. 90% of my kills drop right in the spot very few times where I shot a coyote or a deer and it ran but then it would slowly drop.
@Texas_Rigged im proud of all 3 of you gentlemen for being able to kill game with match ammo. I was just stating a fact that Hornady Black ammo was designed for target/match shooting.
You need a bubble level on your scope dude.. I see so many guys on TH-cam build badass rifles and wanna shoot long range but don’t have a anti cant bubble.. just cutting your self short
Killer rifle brother…try some 110v max or nosler varmageddon..my 1:12 fn spr will stack em and fastest .308 I have at 3500fps 24” barrel..3300 from my dd5v3. Love the 168a max and eldm and have them in .308 and 6.5prc..I have old 7rem mag 700 I’m gonna build similar to yours oneday…just got the 4.5x22 lht ands awsome. 3x15 viper on my spr
Here is a scope that might put on your list optics to consider, the Brownell’s MPO line of scopes. I put together a Savage 110 Tactical in 308W, I replaced the barrel with a Criterion barrel 22” topped with a 3-18x 50mm 34 mm(T) with MIL -E: 40, W:32, WT:30.5. I replaced the factory stock with a KRG Bravo GI green or OD.
Thank you sir ! I have a lot to learn about putting something like this together, let alone learning how to shoot it and what a D.O.P.E. card means but it looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for your response @@Texas_Rigged
Put a real scope on this. At the very least a Schmidt. If not then put a nightforce atacr on it. Get that vortex crud off this bad boy. Also vortex razor line gen 2 and gen 3 are crap so dont waste your money.

Amazing build. I’m looking to do the same. Are you sure that’s a 16in barrel? It looks longer to me. Either way badass gun.
Thanks. It is 16 inches.

Rifle looks amazing . How do I go about building one ? I can find the stock but where do I find the rest ?
Buds guns website has the rifle

Where can I upgrade my rem 700
You look online. There are so many online stores where you can get upgrades
Did you true the action with LRI?
No. I was thinking about it but I was happy with the way it preformed.
sick!
Nice build. No ear protection?
No need. The thunder beast suppressor is outstanding
Your shooting technique is excellent.
Thanks.
Which McMillan is that?
How much does it weigh in total?
A nice rig, but why would you go to the expense of adding a second ejector plunger and not have a Sako or M16 style extractor put in?
Spec is spec bra
