In case you're wondering why my hair looks so much fuller in the old footage: I went through a massive bout of hairloss in 2011 and it grew back a lot, but never quite to the thickness I had before :(

My mom had that happen too, after pregnancy, it fell out but didn't grow back in to the thickness it was before. Cue menopause and it got thinner again. I myself lost a lot of hair going through puberty (age 13/14), including bald patches. It grew back in wavy when it was straight before. Shock of my life, and I didn't know how to treat it. It wasn't until in my 30s that I learned to deal with my natural texture.

You do NOT have pin straight hair! But if you keep treating it like that, that's what you'll get. I know from experience. I had big curls as a child, but the minute I stopped using baby shampoo, which has less harmful ingredients, and my mom started making me brush my hair all the time (she has straight hair and didn't know what to do with my hair), it went straight and frizzy. I transitioned only a year and a half ago, and believe me, it takes a LONG time for hair to go back. You have to use this method every day for months to see real results. Keep at it, and I think you'll surprise yourself!

So, SO true. I had no intentions of doing this, but decided to no longer blowdry/heat style my hair, just wet set pin curls. 6 months later in winter when I did go to dry it again (way to cold for wet hair!) I found my texture had changed quite a bit and my kid-curls were coming back. Now I'm coaxing them back with intention, and it's still a process, but it improves bit by bit! :)

I also had semi-curly hair as a child but I never treated it right and a few years back I discovered I had some more texture than I thought I did. Now I take better care of it, and my curls are as strong as ever. I'm trying to follow the methode, but where I live there are no sulfate free and silicon free products, so I do my bsst with what I have 😉😉

As a kid, I had curly hair that were tight like a coil. My mom had pin straight Asian hair and didn't know how to treat my curls either so she just brushed it so that it looked like a bushy mess. I rarely used a straightener but over time my hair lost its bouncey curls and became frizzy waves. I shaved my head for a pixie cut and now it grows out pin straight with not even waves. At first I thought it's puberty that made my hair lose its curls but I don't know anymore. I really want my natural curls back and I'm tempted to try the curly hair girl method but I'm scared my childhood curls won't return and I'll have spent all that money and effort for nothing :/

I have straight hair and I assure you that your hair is not straight, no matter what other commenters say. The texture and appearance of your hair are completely different than mine. Also, when I scrunch my wet hair, it is still straight mo matter what products I use, while yours holds some curl. Your hair is very similar to my 2 sisters (I have many female relatives with varying amounts of curl to draw examples from ). Both the texture and the amount of curl you get in long hair is very similar to theirs. They are in the 2B - C range, with maybe some 3A.

      @carodeux 5 ปีที่แล้ว +32

awkwardmariah My hair is thick in the sense that there are many hairs per square centimeter. But it is fine - each hair is very thin, so in that sense its not thick. It is very silky and shiny and when its newly washed it is puffy and full and it doesn’t lie against my head. The next day its flatter and if I go three days without washing it, its even flatter, but it is always straight and shiny.
It’s nice hair. I was lucky in a way, but I think everyone gets tired of their hair because whatever it is, you’ve got it for life. And because all my siblings have lovely curls, I sigh.

I think if you had layers in your hair, the texture/waves would stay better. Since your hair is long, the weight of your hair probably pulls them right out. My hair is similar and when I have layers, it stays wavier.

  • @herChristianBusiness
    @herChristianBusiness 5 ปีที่แล้ว +132

From your older pics, I would definitely say you have natural waves. I also have fine, lower dense hair like yours. I've always thought I just had straight hair, but after detoxing my hair from all chemicals, one day I noticed I had waves in my hair. I took interest in the CG community shortly afterwards. I started a little over a month ago, but then gave up because I was only getting results like yours. For some reason I decided to try again and make a longer commitment this time. It's getting much wavier each time and my hubby loves it. I like to keep the process super simple. I shampoo my hair upside down. Then, I add conditioner. At this point I take wide tooth comb to evenly distribute the conditioner over my hair....and comb out tangles while having some slip from the conditioner (still upside down). Do a little scrunching and rinse it out. Leave in conditioner is too much for my fine hair. While my hair is really wet, I add small dollops of gel three different times to make sure I have all areas of my hair is covered. I scrunch that in, while squeezing out excess water. I then plop my hair for about 10-15 minutes. I allow it to air dry and form a cast. (I tried drying it like you do before, but this actually wipes out my waves instead of enhancing my waves.) If I sleep with the cast on my hair over night and scrunch it out in the morning, I have much better results. For this reason, I wash my hair early evening when I know I'm not going anywhere else for the day. Really, this has become a very simple, fuss-free method for me... and I'm actually beginning to get a few spirals here and there. Cutting layers in also made a huge difference. Oh, and the real game changer that really helped was after I did the rice water protein treatment. I immediately saw results with wavier hair... so now I'm going to do that once a week.

    • @user-ry6jj6kx2s
      @user-ry6jj6kx2s 5 ปีที่แล้ว

What is the rice water protein treatment you've been doing to your hair?

    • @herChristianBusiness
      @herChristianBusiness 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@user-ry6jj6kx2s It's been making it "come to life" so-to-speak. Right away, I could tell my hair was wavier than before after it dried. I've heard that some people's hair is very sensitive to protein and can't handle it, and other people's hair really thrive with extra protein. So the only way to really know is just to try it a couple of times to see how your hair responds.

Hi Loepsie, I have veeeeery curly hair - like tendrils / coils. But when my hair was not "virgin" hair, it would NEVER get any texture, no matter what. So I think the only way this method actually works, is on people with virgin hair. Once you grow out your whole head of hair then you could do some occasional heat (with protectant) but no chemicals, and still get texture.
Also Jamaican black castor oil massaged into the scalp, will help regrow thickness. It takes about a year of regular massaging and low manipulation styles. Good luck!

A lot of people are saying you have straight hair, I disagree and do think, especially from seeing older photos, that your hair is slightly wavy and could eventually get to 2a waves. Creams are very heavy on wavy hair! I have 2c/3a hair, and most creams loosen my curls quite a lot. Also the drying time you mention makes It sound like your hair is low porosity, which means you really don’t need much product. I would recommend products meant specifically for wavy hair (try devacurl wavemaker! Or the herbal essence totally twisted mousse for a cheap option), or a very light, strong hold gel (like the LA sports extreme blue gel- sounds scary, but it’s great at preserving texture without weighing the hair down). Also, diffusing doesn’t work for everyone. For me, it makes my pretty darn wavy/curly hair practically straight! Just a few tips if you decide to try again.

As a kid and young teen I used shampoos with silicones and I had a 1a texture, after I switched to natural cosmetics I had like a 1b texture and now it's 2b to 2c (on good days) texture, so you can do it and it gets better with time. In my experience I have found that the CG method works better once you’ve committed to transitioning into it for at least 3-5 months. That means all the products CG approved, using styling products like gels, no heat... but also: getting a new cut! The cut does change A LOT when you’re doing the CG method. I think you should definitely give it a thorough try. My hair looked similar to yours before I began, and now I’m a 2b/2c/3a!

About half of my hair is destroyed from 6 yrs of bleaching so the back of my head gets so wavy almost curly but the top layer dries completely flat and it's so ugly and not soft like it normally is. I dont want to give up because I miss my old texture and going through this with you makes me feel not too bad about it 💕

  • @tiagrimaldo

Your hair definitely has wave to it. I had "straight hair" my whole life, but my 3 year old daughter has curly hair. In the process of trying to learn how to care for her hair I learned my hair may not be straight after all. Your natural hair has similar characteristics to mine pre curly girl. So I too started experimenting. I'm 2-3 months in and every time I wash I see change happening. I have had spiral curls. I personally would look into custards. I use the mop top curly hair custard. Curl creams are too heavy for my hair. I will also say that moisture is KEY. I get weighed down very easily, so I never thought my hair could handle the amount of weekly deep conditioner and leave in conditioner. Keep experimenting and will be surprised!

  • @MakeupMobster

  • @Anna-pm8td
    @Anna-pm8td 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You did so good!! I'm a wavy/curly girl and here's my humble suggestions: leave some of the conditioner in - even if your hair is fine, it needs the conditioner to encourage curling; next, put the gel on right after the conditioner - this will help keep the moisture in your hair. I'd suggest "scrunching" in the gel too (praying hands always makes my hair straighter). Moisture = happy waves :) And it takes a few weeks of commitment to the CGM for straightish hair to produce waves every time it's washed. So unless you have very curly hair, the CGM won't necessarily make your hair obviously wavy unless you decide to do this for a month or so. Either way, you're adorable, your hair is gorgeous, and it's fun to try something new once in a while!

If you don't have pin-straight hair, but a slight wave, the LOC/LCO method for styling, from the CG method is the best way to go. It is about layering your styling products. To give you an idea. I have fingertip length hair and use about a coin size of each layer of product, so that goes to show how *little* you need! I usually use a curl cream, a gel, and a serum. All a coin size, that's it. Shorter hair, use a pea size amount. No joke! Also, the straighter your hair, the less product you need. Do mix your cream with the gel up front in the palm of your hand; if it curdles, it's going to flake in your hair. Some creams don't go well with gel. Just FYI!

  • @lynpepler

Oooh, you do have some waves! Lovely ♡ it takes *months* if not a bit longer for hair to really start to show what it's capable of using this method. It takes patience and dedication, but it's worth it if you would love to have more body in your hair.

Love the experimentation! It is definitely a part of the CG process. And I would agree with others, you do have texture it's not "straight", so it's really about finding the right techniques and products + giving it the time it needs.
A few recommendations that may or may have not already been said:
The praying hands method was almost right 😅 Instead of patting it into the hair you want to smooth it downwards without separating your palms.
Another option is to try roping in the product. I only recommend roping because it's a method many wavies use.
Secondly, really make sure your hair is dripping wet before you apply products. I have a spray bottle I use when I apply my products to make sure my hair is dripping wet each time I apply and even inbetween to keep the hair saturated. Especially since you're going to squeeze out water as you squish in product.
Finally, I would try not squishing out excess water before plopping. That is one of those things that can either work for you or against you.
Product wise, you can use a mousse. Just make sure it is without alcohol. Mousses can be great for wavies since it is such a light product. I use a mousse and a gel to get best results.
For reference, my hair texture ranges from 2b-3b (I have curly spots and wavy spots. It's not homogenous), and I'm low porosity.
    I hope this helps!!

I've only recently discovered the CG method and I've really seen an improvement in my hairs condition and the state of my curls now that I'm using it. For the entirety of my life I've brushed and combed my dry hair, obliterating my hairs natural curl into a horrible frizz which was exacerbated by under conditions my fine hair. The only good thing I've done for the last few years is to not heat style, but that was out of frustration of years of being forced to straighten my frizz. The CG method might seem cumbersome, but I find it a lot more manageable than the 30 minute blow dry sessions of the past.
With each new was my curl pattern improves. I only comb my hair when I'm conditioning, I have stopped brushing my hair at all, and I'm seeing the hair regrowth. I lose a lot less hair now, which is good, because my hair is fine and thinned out by brushing damage. The curls give me more volume than I've had in years, and the curls are lasting longer between washes as time goes by.
The best gel cast I got was from a clear eco styling gel, my hair was actually crunchy after a plop and air dry, but I'm also happy with my curling creme curls, where there's no crunchiness to scrunch out. I just have to be sure not to put in too much product as that weighs my hair down far too much.
Lastly, don't be scared to plop longer. As I saw in a previous comment here, it allows your hair to dry without any weight billing down on the curls. I've let my hair dry in a plop, which does allow your heads natural heat to assist in drying your hair. I've adopted your over the sink post wash leave in condition and product scrunch, as I didn't like washing my hair upside down all the time and doing g the product in the shower, so thanks for that, it's far more comfortable. I look forward to your next visit to this topic

The CG method isn't a 1 time fix, it's a way of treating your hair and the longer you follow the method the better your hair becomes and your curls or waves will look... OVER TIME. And if you were to start the method with the intentions of truly seeing your waves potential you would need to actually do it correctly because your still not doing it right. Your hair isn't straight but it takes time to fix your texture when you have treated it like straight hair for so long. The reason it looks more wavy when wet is because it is moisturized.

I think your strainer trick was just dang brilliant!! 👏 Only sharp minds think of solutions like that, so you really shouldn’t take any criticism from anyone to heart. To be honest? I thought it looked easier to work with than many hair dryer diffusers I’ve seen (or owned), that are out there! So keep doing you girl!!
As for your ‘curly-girl’ routine? You’re doing pretty darn well I think. I agree with many who’ve stated that it’s basically a matter of ‘re-training your hair’ -similar to how some girls will work on getting their hair to part naturally in a different spot. It can be done, but the key in all of this is consistency. If you commit to using this routine consistently (or one similar to it), I think you’ll find your curls will become bigger, larger in number, as well as more defined.
I also agree with others that you might want to try sleeping on your ‘plop’. I’d probably use one tee to soak up the majority of the wetness, then switch to a dry one before my head hit the pillow. I think if you did this you might find your hair would be mostly dry by morning. By then, if you did have to use the hair dryer, you’d likely be able to just concentrate on your roots which would give you volume. 💁‍♀️ Last step after that would be to run your fingers through any remaining ‘gel crunch’ to soften the look real quick, then head out the door and be on your fabulous way. 💃🏻😉
Keep the dream alive girl! Based on the pics you shared I really think you can get there!! 💕

AAAaaaaand I heard the gasping from the curlies as you were scrunching out the crunch before it was dry, lol....for us that need to coax our curls you really can't touch it till it's 100% dry. Sucks, I know. Also, us fine hair girls need straight up gel - NOT a cream based product. I tried a product similar to the one you used - no curl definition whatsoever. Pure gel is the way to go. Think Dippity Do gel, lol. Can't wait for round 3!!!

Yes, this! Also, seemed like in the video you scrunched only the ends of your hair. Get up in there all the way to the scalp and the back of your hair when Squishing with conditioner and don’t rinse it all out. Then. Squish in lots more gel than that (and real gel) not just the ends but all up to your scalp.
Plop for way longer than 15 min. and you might not have to heat dry. Could you let it air dry the rest of the way?
SOC after completely dry with a tee shirt and it could be a whole different look.

You have lovely wave potential! Try focusing on getting the waves to clump, or they will frizz and fall out as they dry. If your hair is soaking and you gently finger-comb to separate it out, then you can scrunch in the product while it's still wet without breaking up wave clumps too much. Then be very gentle when you scrunch/squeeze your hair with a t-shirt tip get out excess moisture. The wave clumps are essential when you have such a delicate wave pattern!!
I think we have very similar hair wave types, and I had some similar issues at first. If you have any questions, I can can share all the other little tips that worked for me! :)

Hey lucy! Your last video on the CGM, led me to try it out. I knew I had wavy hair, but I had no idea I had extremely curly hair. It was amazing to find that out! So, a trick that I have found that works, is to scrunch the hair up and the hold it for a few seconds. I find that this helps the curl to form better. Also, it was a cool idea, but I don't think the strainer is working. I would recommend a diffuser. Which might lead you to buy a new hairdryer. I apologize if this could be an inconvenience. However, I really think it will help.

I will say that after years and years and years of straightening my hair I have been going through the process of getting my natural curls back. It does take a long time but I’m slowly but surely getting there. The one thing I can see is that when your hair is dry, before breaking the gel cast, your hair should look stringy and crunchy. It’s hard to explain but I don’t think you used enough gel, although if it’s a cream rather than gel that might also be the problem. I use Shea Moisture or Cantu gels and when my hair is dry it’s sort of stringy and wet looking. Then I scrunch out the gel cast and it is very soft but defined.
Also if you are going to continue this method a diffuser is a must. My hubby got me two for Christmas and my curl game is even better. He got them from Sally’s Beauty Supply. The ones I had bought before never fit my hair dryer either because it has a smaller nozzle, but the ones he got me does. He actually took my hair dryer with him lol. Before the diffusers he got me I never blew my hair dry so I didn’t even realize they were gone. lol
Anyway, it’s worth a shot to see what your hair does. Mine was pretty straight before doing the curly girl method to get back to my curls so you never know. Good Luck! 🍀

I have wavy hair, and you clearly do as well. Ours are similar, though I would say I'm a little bit more wavy. I recommend using as little product as possible. Nothing will bring out your natural waves as good as your own sebum, as well as wooden and bone combs.
Go water only. Use luke warm to hot water to cleanse the scalp. About once a week, clarify with distilled water. You can scrunch like you do here (without squeezing the water...without product in it, the squeezing will just cause breakage). Personally, I generally "shake out" my waves and then scrunch a little bit. And then hair dry.
I like comb and brush my hair before I bathe. I start with my hands, then a wide toothed comb, thinner toothed comb, and then I might use my wooden bristle brush. I don't know why the wood and bone emphasize my waves, but really works. My hair was never this wavy when I used store bought product.
Of course, nowadays I boil an onion and some garlic for a couple ours, strain it, and then wash my hair in that. Works well enough for me!

I love that you're trying I'd go for the LOC method which stands for leave in, oil, cream and in that order (using the scrunched method) only using a very small amount. Try to leave your hair in the plop for as long as you can and also use clips on the roots when drying. I think a defuser attachment is a god send. I have 3a hair but I rarely do the curly girl method because it's also very fine so breaks easily when using even a tangle teaser

Hi Loepsie, I really enjoyed your video and would love to see you continue the curly girl method. I have a few suggestions. 1) Used 1 cup apple cider vinegar and 2 cups distilled water and spray your hair to clairfy. 2) Try Devacurl low-poo and one conditioner 3) squish and condish 4) Use eco gel (only $9 for a huge tube at sally), 5) Do not diffuse right away, put hair up in a turbon 4) use black orchid diffuser xtava (does not cost much). I used this method and seems to bring out texture. It's difficult with wavier hair if you put too much the wrong product that may weigh down your hair. Good luck and looking forward to your next video.

It has to do with how it cups your hair, it’s like scrunching your hair while drying it at the same time. Hope that makes sense. Good luck! 😊

As someone with curly hair, I can't blow dry my hair even with a diffuser if I want my curls. The winds from the hair dryer always makes my hair frzzy, then when brushed out it's more wavey than curly. I have to ploft my hair over night if I want my natural curls, and I use a tiny bit of leave in and hair curling gel on soaking wet hair. I also only use deva curl, I use the decodence no pooline though because I dye my hair but you would need just the low poo line If you do this again try avoiding the hair dryer

Very beachy! Cute summer look! For me... another girl with fine hair... the longer it is, the less curl/wave I have. Chopping it really brings out an often astonishing amount of curl. When it's longer, nothing much happens. Also a nice, fresh cut livens the curl in a big way. Any dry/thin ends just don't do a darn thing for me. They fight me every step of the way! But, as I think I said in your last video, it's a training process. Keep doing it and you might just see a lot more curl/wave than you think! :) Good luck!

Hi Loepsie! I find it very interesting to see what the curly girl method does for straight hair and I hope you continue this project. I just want to suggest some changes to your routine. the first thing I wondered was at what point do you you detangle your hair? You shouldn't detangle textured hair as much as straight hair. Ideally you only do it when it's wet and saturated with conditioner to prevent breakage. But I suppose you could also carefully comb your hair before you wash it since it doesn't seem that dry and prone to breaking. secondly i believe you didn't use enough of the curl cream because your hair didn't have much definition once it dried. you can gradually increase the amount of cream with each wash until you get the definition your hair needs to hold the waves. thirdly you should try not to touch your hair until it is COMPLETELY dry. I know it sucks to have to wait so long for it to dry but it's very easy to destroy the texture and definition of wet hair. once it's dry it'll hold the texture much better. and lastly the method works best if you keep doing it every time you wash. so if you really really want to have wavy hair i suggest you use this method for at least a month and then decide if it's really worth it for you because it does take a long time before you can get the most out of your hairs natural texture. I hope you found some of my ideas helpful. But I still encourage you to use the advice of others as well. Everyones hair is different and you just have to find what works for you even if it isn't curly girl approved! :^)

Late to the party, but I'm loving these videos. Now, I don't know about you, but for me the product actually holds better when it's not dripping wet. I think being super wet like that would just dilute it too much to be as effective as it's intended to be. If you try it again, I'd still s2c, rinse, but dry it a bit with those microfiber gloves next and then squish in the product. Plop to finish as well. I can't help with the blow dryer as my hair is too short to need one, but even when it was long, I think it always turned out better when it could air dry. Even if it takes a while, I think it'd be a neat experiment. Maybe do this in the evening and plop overnight? See where it's at in the morning and let it air dry from there. Just film check-ins throughout the day.

I have 3c curls and I have followed a lot of methods for my hair just to see what fits best. The curly girl method is basically trying to keep your hair moisturized by less striping of oils when shampooing and having “breathable” conditioner afterwards. Silicones in conditioner can be either water soluble or not, and the reason we opt for soluble is because the insoluble one is hard to wash off even with a sulphate shampoo. This makes putting any other product after it kind of useless because it just sits on top of the hair cuticle unable to penetrate it because of the “protective layer”. Another thing, the strainer diffuser thing might not be doing exactly what the diffuser is designed for. A diffuser spreads the air blown in a wider area, decreasing the force of blow as well. Just being gentle on drying the hair. Curly hair is easily prone to frizz even when using the same products that worked before that’s why some just air dry without any manipulation.
I can write down here chronicles about hair stuff but just to be short: curly products can work on any other hair but not necessarily give the texture because they are designed to keep curls deeply moisturized since they are not as good at holding it. And with variable hair porosity levels that could also affect how well your hair soaks up different conditioners. There’s this blog called the sciency hair blog that gets into scientific details of why hair behaves in ways with different people. It should help.

Hey hey! I have curly hair but I just love your channel in general cause it's so different from the rest of the beauty community that's currently having a disaster. So, praying hands. Good effort, but you want to glide the hands down the length of the hair, in the praying position, distributing the product. I also wide tooth comb and finger comb my conditioners in. I ONLY finger comb my other stylers in cause I don't want to break up my curl clumps too much. After applying my conditioners or stylers, with the finger raking, I squish my hair. Then I use praying hands as the final step to create as much clumping as possible. Then do my preferred drying method

I just recently saw a DevaCurl stylist for the first time and she gave me some amazing tips that I'd love to share with you! 1. DevaCurl believes that curls/waves start to form right when you start conditioning, so try to do your hair brushing and make your part when you're shampooing, since parting it after washing will loosen the waves you do have. 2. Try putting gel in your hair when there's still water in it, it varies for person to person but some do it when the hair is soaking wet and others squeeze a little out first, it helps adhere the gel to your hair and makes it much more effective. 3. After putting in product, don't touch it while it's drying! Don't part, tuck behind ears, nothing that could disrupt the curl pattern. When you diffuse, use the strainer gently by lifting it from the tips of your hair, letting it sit in its natural pattern inside the strainer, and don't press it right onto your head. Also, don't continuously lift and lower it as you're drying, just blow dry the same sections for a while on low heat since the more you move your hair, the more wave pattern you're disrupting. 4. Waves can be picky with treatment, experiment with diffusing for varying periods of time, like air dry until it's 70% dry and then diffuse the rest, or diffuse gently for a few minutes when it's damp and air dry the rest of the way. 5. When your hair is almost dry, try gently twirling some clumps and then twist the twirled hair around your finger, both in the direction that your waves naturally curl in. Hope this helps maybe?? It has for me!! ❤ P.S. I have wavy-curly hair and plopping ruins my curls in my experience, so maybe try this routine without plopping and see if it helps you preserve your waves!

so i have a mix of type two hair and i think that without a gel you won't get anywhere. there isn't anything holding your waves so i suggest you find a gel like La sports with a really strong hold and if you want you can use a light leave in like kinky curly knot today. if your hair is greasing definitely use a shampoo.also for applying products put your hands together and instead of clapping the products in smooth it down with the hair in between your hands. then you have to scrunch a lot.also touching your hair while its wet can cause frizz. stick with the method for a while , doing it twice won't give any results. i also suggest a trim as your ends seems dead. the cows could be weighing your hair down, i suggest continuing sulfate free product and mild shampoo.

I enjoyed watching your video 😊, if you are still experimenting with techniques for your hair, try a volumizing shampoo, if possible see if a hair salon has sample or travel size before committing to a full size bottle of such. I've noticed volumizing shampoos help to remove excess heavy hair product that may be present, and may help bring back any waves as seen while you washed your hair. If your hair is difficult to detangle, use a very light conditioner and a wide tooth comb to detangle your hair in shower but be very gentle. Wash off conditioner with cool water, from here you can try 2 things to see which works: remove excess water with a t-shirt in scrunching motion, then avoiding the scalp sparingly apply a Beach Wave Spray as you scrunch throughout and let air dry, experiment with a sugar based one as it is less drying. Alternately on a separate day follow the same volumizing shampoo and then condition and detangle gently in shower, t-shirt scrunch excess water then apply a Beach Wave Spray this time a sea salt based one then air dry. A long layer haircut may also help achieve bouncy waves.

I think you shouldn't give up the CGM, also i think you may have 2A hair and maybe you should try using a little bit less product since you have really thin hair. I think you got a really good result, bc you are still learning and beginning to know the real texture of your hair. And every hair is different and take a different treatment, you just have to try and find out the best for you and I think you are having very positive results!
I also have a thin hair that is not completely straight just like yours (and sometimes does some waves or even curls). So when I saw you starting the CGM I wanted to give a try, sometimes it works, but some times its just a mess. Eventually i will discover if its just a phase and my hair is straight or if is a wavy/curvy and I've been treating him wrong
I really hope you continue this journey bc it really looks good on you and helps me a lot!

Lots of hope!! I use waaayy more gel than that on my hair that’s shorter than yours. Blue LA Looks is my favorite. Leave in conditioners and creams weigh down my hair, so I rinse my hair completely after squish to condish. I also get the best results with a mix of raking and scrunching the gel into my hair. You want your hair to curl up with itself in clumps or it DOES go Hermione Granger in the first movie. I rake the gel through while my head is upside down, then bring it together into one big clump, then gently scrunch that clump out, being careful the clumps stay big. Even if you don’t style your hair curly every day, letting your hair go back to virgin in the meantime will help your next trial go better.

@@kaylynboyd2035 could be. But honestly, we won't know unless she tried CG for weeks at least. Her hair is definitely not straight to me.

Ana Marie Albiad we do know because it literally wasn’t created for her texture hair. 😂

One thing that works for me is to comb my hair with a wild wood comb straight out of the shower. Being gentle and not overdoing it. It helps to distribute products (even if actually, I only use my shampoo and sometimes water and apple vinegar rinsing water) and I think it separates the hairs in smaller groups so when you crunch them up, they have less weight to carry. I am not sure if it will help you but that can worth a try :)
using diluted vinegar as rinsing product can also help remove the residue from the tap water if your area is calcareous. It can helped also with avoiding "build up" of products but I don't understand fully this problem yet.

If you try this again i think you should use a firm hold gel, so it feels super crispy before you scrunch it out. for some people plopping doesn't work, (like me) i really enjoy watching these videos your very interesting!

That's how my curly hair looked when it was super damaged on the ends, I did a big chop and my curls came right back!

I have wavy hair/some curly hair and the plop method did not work AT ALL for me! But scrunching and then hover drying works sooooo well!😍 so that basically when you have a diffuser on but you don’t cup your hair up in it you just hover over it and dry it! Works so well, would definitely recommend trying that!✨

My mom has hair a lot like yours. I don't know how you feel about cutting your hair, but the only way my mom can keep her wave is to cut it (hers is a little lower than shoulder length) and put layers in it. Just be careful not to layer it to much or the bottom layer may get frizzy. As for myself, I have wavy hair and I did get more definition after layering it. When you go to style your hair, mousse might actually be better because it is more light weight than gel. Also, before you put in that, you should try putting a very small amount of leave in conditioner. I think this will help your hair to wave and might be shinier. If you do that, the product you use to lock it in, might have something to lock in haha. After I wash my hair and put conditioner in, I use a wet brush to detangle my hair. Then I scrunch it. I don't know if this would work for you, but if you try it, you might be able to see if your hair has a wave or, if it is just kind of tangled. I don't know if this is helpful, but there you go! :)

Help!!! I had curly hair when i was little and got my first haircut (yes. First.) at 6 years old, and then it started to loosen up more and more, and now its completely straight!!! How do i bring my curly hair back? Should I do this CG thing?

My hair lost its natural wave when I was really young because my hair got too sleek and heavy, but ive air dried it for years now and its very wavy! Not the waviest hair in the world, but its a bit wavier than the older video clips you showed of yourself. I only air dry my hair for convenience and hadnt expected to get the wave back, but I wonder if you tried air drying yours it would wave again? :o I never use any product aside from shampoo and conditioner, I just leave it in a towel until it dries enough to let it down, then let it fully air dry. Also, im sorry about your hairloss, I lost some of mine too a couple years ago from stress and i still have some baby hairs that struggle to regrow in the front and just have a lot of fringe as result. I hope youre hair regrows more and that you can feel happy and comfortable with it, if not already!

I did this for years and my hairs like urs. My 2006yr old suggestion is garnier curl spray and straight after washing, use product then immediately use diffuser without ever flipping ur hair until its dry. It works!! I did it for yearsssss ppl thought it was my natural hair

Have you tried looking for the Diva Pro diffuser? It seems to be popular amongst us curlies because it fits many hairdryers

When I was little I had somewhat curly hair but it just kind of left the older I got. My hair is very similar to hers. My hair stays frizzy so I don’t like using heat on it super often. Should I try this? When ever I scrunch my hair it’s pretty wavy when it’s wet but then like hers it falls as it dries.

I find the longer my hair gets, the less curls I have. The length “weighs down” my curls. So if you want curls, consider getting layers cut into your hair or a shorter cut if you want something different. You are beautiful regardless!!!!

I’ve been curious about trying something like this. My hair does have some texture or waves occasionally and it really curled up for a day or two after I cut it a few years back. However, I don’t know if it’s worth the effort and the money on products to figure it out

Michaela LaLonde i think if you have hair that seems to “never behave” or deal with a lot of frizziness it’s worth it! Especially if your hair seems to go crazy in humidity. I thought my hair was straight but just not tamed, extremely frizzy. I pretty much had the same wave as her initially but the only difference is my hair is more thick and poofy and hers looks pretty fine. Now my hair has lovely 2b waves and is frizz free. Just starting out I think won’t be too expensive, the only somewhat expensive one is the sulfate and silicone free shampoo and you can just buy a cheap $1 suave or vo5 conditioner.

maybe a strong hold hair gel- scrunch, scrunch and arrange how u want it then don't touch it until completely dry. then scrunch out the gel cast. you could purchase an inexpensive diffuser--might make a difference. some curlies/wavies like LA sports gel for hair. I do best with Devacurl's Wave Maker.. try it

try not to tousle it so much while its drying... will straighten it more and cause frizz. It has slight wave, slight texture. you could prob get the tousled beach wave look. I like your hair in this video.

It seems like we have similar hair types. My hair has always been somewhat fine but, like yourself, I've gone through some hair loss (twice). The way I get my hair to wave is washing normally, then putting volume spray in it and blow drying until it's about half dry using a diffuser. The result is not super wavy but wavier than your hair here. I think us fine haired girls, unlike curly girls, cannot use heavy creams and styling products. I've also had some luck with salt sprays!

Hey, I definitely think you can get a better result. One thing that worked really well for me was going for the 'big chop' . I cut around 5 cms of my hair and my hair was a lot healthier and therefore held curl a lot better afterwards. Also I don't think that curl cream you used has enough hold to it. It definitely doesn't look like it gave you a gel cast at all. A gel cast really means your hair is stiff and crunchy (like boy's hair :P). If you are looking for a cheap curly girl approved gel, try the styling gel extra strong from Hema. It's like 3 euros, easily available in NL and works well enough. Doesn't give amazing hold, but definitely better than that cream you used. Next time I would just shampoo and condition and then just use gel, no other product. I use one almond sized amount on the left side and then another almond sized amount on the right side of my hair, using prayer hands and scrunching. After applying product I use a microfiber towel so squeeze out more excess moisture using the scrunching technique. Then I blowdry with diffuser on cold until it's about 50% dry en airdry the rest of the way, before scrunching out the crunch
Few more tips: 'is it cg', an app where you can enter ingredients from products and it tells you if the product is cg approved.
I personally don't like to do the whole upside down thing. It's too much of a hassle for me and makes my hair dry weird, so once I get out of the shower I just style my hair while I am upright. It might give me less volume but I have more control over the end result. But my hair is currently shoulder length, so maybe that's just an issue on shorter hair.
I'm really curious to see you continue this journey :)
