    • @chaosdirge4906
      @chaosdirge4906 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Rogue galaxy does alot of things right, I wouldn't call it unknown though. alot of these are well known midling known games. Stella and I'd say Dual Hearts and Radiata Stories are less known games. But Rogue Galaxy, I'm sure that game effected alot of games in the development world it did advanced things for its time like costume changes and upgradable weapons systems, it took the mixing mechanic from the dragon Quest series and streamlined it which appeared in things like Ni No Kuni.
I'd say if you want really unkown games one would be Okage the Shadow King.
that one RPG about that guy that dies and becomes a ghost, and he starts possessing people to preform their daily tasks so that he can move on. I forget what that game's called I saw in in one of my local gamestores recently though. It's worth like 300 dollars which is funny because while I would say it's unknown it's also not one of the best games mechanically and deserves its unknown stats, it is unique though. Rogue galaxy though feels very influential.

I was lucky and got a copy of it brand new while it was on shelves. I still own it today.
I ended up buying a PS2 slim one day while I was on my work break and I picked up that game just before the next generation came out. I wasn’t a huge gamer at the time but my old PS2 broke a couple years prior and I never got around to getting a new one till then. Probably because I wanted to buy something with the money I earned from my first job haha. I fully finished that game at the time and then when it got added on the PS4 games list, I bought it and played it again earning the trophies. Such a good game.

I have only played the 1st one which is amazing, but I believe the theme change is indeed one of the main reasons why the 3rd game isn't near as well liked. The new cast of characters I think is another reason. The devs were probably trying to keep things fresh by changing it up a little. That's not a bad idea at all, but there were a couple of problems. For one thing, the series didn't need to be freshened up yet. Fans were still very happy with the series as it was and were certainly not growing tired of it after only 2 games in. Also, it's best to keep things fresh by adding something new to the game, not by changing the game. Any changes should be minor, otherwise you risk alienating the fan base as they unfortunately did. People loved the series as it was. You do not fix what isn't broken.

One forgotten RPG on the PS2 would be MS Saga: a new dawn. Heck, it's often forgotten by myself and I own it!! It was a pretty standard RPG affair set in a post apocalyptic world where the main hook was that you could pilot various mobile suits from the Mobile Suit Gundam series. Furthermore, you could also mix and match parts to customise your units for your characters. It was a pretty cool gimmick which sadly felt somewhat undercooked but the game itself was enjoyable enough. I even managed to finish it back in the day, tho I felt that the ending was rather abrupt...

Ephemeral Fantasia has remained one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Honestly, I think of it as a pretty bad game, but it's the concept and how you go about recruiting characters. My favorite thing to do in that game is the Banjo - Pattimo. Then again, it's always the mini-games that hook me the most (such as with Blitz Ball or the card systems in the Final Fantasy games). My last playthrough, I managed to collect all map pieces and recruit all characters.
Also, I don't think Rogue Galaxy has ever really been forgotten. I still hear about it all the time. I have a deep love for the game, just as much as I do for Phantasy Star Universe or Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. It's been re-released as a PS3/4/& 5 PS2 Classic. Now...ask about any .hack//sign original games and no one talks about them - same with Xenosaga. Popular back on the PS2, I think they deserve a current generation console port/compilation.

I have Growlanser myself. Bought it maybe 5-7 years ago at a store I think for 60$
Gonna argue about Rouge Galaxy though, that was a common reddit /r/gaming post about that game for years. Its in no way forgotten, it even got put on the PS4 with tons of support like 1080p graphics, trophies, use with the vita of all things, etc. Great game though, my friend had it as a kid and we'd hang out for hours just playin that game.

    • @paxhumana2015

@luffy111234, Wild Arms 3 got a PS4 re-release as well, just saying. However, no other Wild Arms game got a re-release past the PS2 era, which is absolutely criminal. I do hope that a combination of Wild Arms 1 and Wild Arms: Alter Code: F get made as a remake/remaster for the PS5, but, considering the state of the franchise as a whole, we were fortunate to get the PS4 Wild Arms 3 re-release.

@@thatvideogamesshow , honestly, I would love a remake, as well as a LOT of additional enemies, bosses, new locations that could be visited, a revamped story, a greatly expanded story, and a page that is taken out of Arc the Lad (IV): Twilight of the Spirits, namely, that there could be the eight characters that we know from the original Rogue Galaxy in their Longardian Federation, and then there could be eight other new characters that come from the Draxian Empire, and that both parties can visit each part, each individual place that is in this new game, and that can also be combined into new party systems. I would also like for there to be more items that could be used in newly expanded Revelation Flows for the current characters, as well as big, and expanded, Revelation Flows for the newcomers, for the Insectron to be different, namely, that a person has to literally fight for the Insects to put in the Insectron, including the one that cannot be obtained in the current version of the game, as well as for the Insectron being possibly eliminated and replaced with a much bigger fighting pit arena where a person can use all sorts of critters that you usually fight in the game in these new battles, yes, even defeated bosses. I would also love for there to be a counterpart for Mother in the Draxian Empire, as well as the revelation that both the big bads of the Longardian Federation, as well as the Draxian Empire, were controlled by forces that were controlled by either Mother OR the new Father, say, like some humans that were accountable to a demonic council.

Many say it's a bad game , and coming back to it , I can almost agree . However , I have a soft spot of nostalgia for it since one of the first video games I've ever played .
The controls are somewhat clunky , but the attacks and spells are great , and the bosses have good gimmicks behind them . It's a flawed game , but I still enjoyed it

Rogue Galaxy and Radiata Stories are my fav from the list. I still play both to this day and I have Rogue Galaxy on PS4 and Radiata on emulator (Since my ps2 is extremely uncomfortably to play on my SmartTv u.u).
Since I mostly played RPGs I don't have a forgotten list (I know they all) but as rule of thumb people that enjoy RPG should know Suikoden (3, 4, 5), Valkyrie Profile 2, Ar Tonelico (Trilogy), Mana Khemia (1 and 2), Dragon Quest and Digital devil saga (1 and 2) to name a few.
Thankfully many ps2 games are bought to life like SMT3, Makai Kingdom, etc.
