    What a fun project and an amazing video. Very informative and good fun. I couldn't stop laughing.
    I love your choice of bike, gsxr 750cc which are iconic and an all rounder.
    Welcome to the Gixxer 750cc club as i have a k1 gsxr 750cc and love it to bits although i must admit i bought a pig but now runs like a thoroughbred :)
    I shall be watching very closely.
    Goodluck

    I suggest looking into salvage auctions if they're available where you're at. I just bought a 2022 ZX6R with 250 miles on it for only 32% of the new price. What was wrong with it? It had a dented fuel tank, bent subframe and some broken plastics. A replacement tank and subframe cost $800, broken plastics don't matter as I'm using track fairings. I sold the new street tires and a few other parts I won't use. It left me with plenty to spend like your goal here. I'll be interested to see what choices you make and why for suspension, brakes, quick shifter?

    Brake pads, stainless lines, suspension setup for rider, tires, if you still have a budget then I would get track fairings (remove all the street stuff). As long as it stops and has good suspension, it’s a perfect track bike. Also a big sticker of a cute puppy wouldn’t hurt.

    Great choice of bike. I think these bikes are great, just stripped back on their own. So the first thing that would make huge difference is Trackday rubber. But after the end of your video. It needs the oil leak fixing 😂😮

    This is going to be a good watch! ❤ Used to track my road K8 750. Got fed up with switching the fairings all the time. Build me a K8 600 track bike a few years back and still love it.
    - Fairing
    - Rear set
    - Brakes (used brembo calipers are not that expensive)
    - Chain and sprockets
    - Suspension (piston kit and shock)
    - Exhaust
    - powercommander+quickshifter? (original ECU can be tuned but pretty rudimental)
    - lose some weight (you can chop half the rear frame)
    Do this and I know you will be really quick 👌🏻👍🏻

    @6arethevan5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Top choices that Taylor 👍🏻👍🏻 erm, basics first, a good once over nut and bolt check, service with quality filters, plugs and oil, fresh brake fluid, decent brake pads, some quality rubber ( I've got a thing for continental race attack, really rate them) and then set up ergonomics where poss (levers, clip ons etc ..) and finally get the suspension set up/overhauled if needed. That way you can decide after, where to start spending as you find it's shortfalls.
    Ace to see you back mate 🙂🏍️👍🏻

    Trip to Maxton first, some crash protection, braided hoses, sintered pads, rear sets, clip ons, maybe some spares, new oils, probably K&N, power commander and new silencer for a bit of weight saving, finally a bit of body work, probably not a lot left of the 4.5K 😢oh nearly forgot new booties! You could sell some of the road kit to boost your budget, say another grand!

  • @JP-sp2eg
    @JP-sp2eg ปีที่แล้ว

    With the budget I’d go for…RCS19 master with hel lines and Yamaha R6 Calipers / Pipewerx full system high level can / 520 chain and sprocket / Renthal clip ons / CRC fairings / Ktech rear shock - Front springs and adjusters / Gilles rear sets / k&n air filter / ECU Flash / HM quick shifter lite

    great bike (I've raced a 04 and 07 gsxr600, a 08 gsxr750 and a 08 gsx1000). I'd do steel braided brake lines, race compound brake pads, track tires, suspension, rear sets/clip ons, gearing/520 chain, exhaust and tune, race fairings and a windscreen. pretty much any sport bike is more then capable on track, any mods are to make the bike fit you better and you riding style.

  • @kgsxr7s085
    @kgsxr7s085 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rear shock
    Front springs and valve kit.. cheaper than cartridges and ur on budget.. good set front pads sbs and brake line
    Strip it
    Race bodywork
    Exhaust and flash
    Slicks!!

  • @kinglouiesshed8995

    As a complete novice I’d go:
    Tyres
    Suspension setup/rebuild
    Bushing and bearings
    Disk and pads
    Service and chain
    See what’s left after that for maybe a air filter and a 2nd hand exhaust of something ? Maybe I’m dreaming about that much for a couple grand not to sure ??

  • @malcolmjohnson4249

    Get some track day CRC fairings, forks and rear shock out and off to Colin at 100% for some TLC. Junk the cat and put an air filter, exhaust/power commander and marry this up to a quick shifter. Don’t forget some crash protection and brake guard. Put on some decent track rubber and go have fun. Then book your overseas TD. 3 days in Spain, Portugal or wider a field like Brno cannot be bettered.

    Ktec suspension, brembo master cylinder/hel hoses , SBS race pads as some road ones overheat on track. Tyres, CRC race fairings and a titanium exhaust race system. If you can get some BST carbon wheels (second hand) would be nice. Hit up James Whitam as he seems to have contacts for Suzuki stuff👍

    I love the GSXR750, I agree all around to where the 1000 wont leave you and still have the chassis to keep up with the 600's. They do lack electronics, but thats what makes them great track bikes. Slicks, brake pads, race fairings and youre ready to rock

    This is exactly what I did. Though mine is an 08 GSXR 600. I uploaded a few videos on here when I first built it.
    After going through this exact same thing, doing a season of track days and then a season of racing on it last year I would prioritize:
    The basics (Track fairing, electronics removal, case covers, sticky tires etc.)
    New master cylinder, pads and braided lines (I found on the hard way about this gens MC and have an RCS going on for this season)
    Rear shock refresh/Aftermarket unit depending on budget
    Fork internals/Dropping the forks as low in the clamps as possible
    Full exhaust and remap
    Hopefully it treats you well! (though after seeing the preview for the next episode that may not be the case...)

    I've got a CBR400RR from '89 that would probably be a good candidate for becoming a track bike. It's not got any original fairings, but the engine is great. With a set of Tyga fairings on it, it would look the part, too.

    • @TheOriginalCoda
      @TheOriginalCoda ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's a great bike for learning to ride on track. My first track was ridden on a FZR400. I'm interested in the new ZXR400RR that's apparently coming to the UK, even though I've got a 'Blade and a 748. The ZXR is probably going to be a killer bike with just a few mods.

  • @rofgar
    @rofgar ปีที่แล้ว

    Service the thing - engines oil, fork and shock service, braking fluid, coolant, clutch wire, throttle wire.
    Slicks, braided brake lines - bare minimum to ride.
    Add Brake pads, rearsets and clipons, swingarm spools - to get a Gentlemen's package.
    You are now comfortable to ride and have enourmous potential laptime wise, brake pads and tires are the 80% of your success.
    Add chain (don't go for the pricy 520 kit conv kit, if 525 is way cheaper, it really is barely a noticeable difference) + sprockets kit (at least -1 +2, but also depends on where and how you ride) to get an easy, but noticeable change in dynamics.
    If you have extra money (and want to keep it that way in case of crashing) - fairings.
    Additional steps would be to get engine case covers, maybe frame covers, but they mostly protect from scratches, if you get a strong enough impact they will do basically nothing.
    Next you will get to the point where it is actually uncomfortable to twist the throttle, because you are now the boss and hitting those straights like a pro, this is the time to get a quick action throttle.
    If you want some bling-bling then Brembo master cylinder - a little easier to brake hard, a lot easier to lock up your wheel if you grab the brakes too suddenly without loading the tire.
    Now is the time when you can actually care about getting faster - AIM Solo or other kind of independent lap timer with telemetry to analyze.
    If you have much more extra money then a Woolich Racing (or FT-ECU) flash with a Leovince Muffler (or Scorpion or whatever is cheap enough and not Chinese, Akropovic is just a waste of money, as well as the weight savings of going Titanium instead of Stainless) + De-cat pipe. You probably won't notice much of a performance difference but the flashed maps usually just run better, especially at lower speeds like when you are is a slow 180 corner and getting on the throttle in 1st gear, stock mapping might be bogging on you, aftermarket evens that out 9/10 times
    When you get more serious and start to swap out the tires regularly - captive wheel spacers, chain adjuster and rear brake mount that doesn't fall the hell out when you install the rear wheel.
    Slap an Up/Down shifter with your flash (Woolich or FT-ECU whatever you got), they are a nice luxury that frees your mind a bit.
    I wouldn't bother with changing the shock or fork pistons on this bike. Too much money for almost no gain if you aren't a high level rider, instead adjust what you have for your own weight, maybe change springs, K-Tech has you covered for most of the stock suspension parts out there.
    If you are now the top dog on your local trackdays, time to swap out those brake calipers for sweet Brembos to get an extra edge in those braking zones.
    Cheers from Ukraine. Your dealerships look like a dream, I wish we had such a big place with a nice stock of used bikes to choose from :D Also would love to visit Silverstone someday.

    Hey, Im not a fan of this bike, the Yam R6 is far better on every count, but with £5k to throw at it and the most important box ticks being, shedding weight by removing all that road furniture, suspension setting up with fork internals (K-tech or RaceLabs etc) adjustable rearsets, Renthal/Harris clip-ons, braided hoses and track pads (if not already fitted) chain/sprockets and some good trackday tyres, full titanium exhaust system and with the change out of the £5k, a couple of cups of hot coffee and a packet of biscuits for the trackside garages. There'll be a lot of folk here that'll benefit from watching this build.

    Fantastic bike for this project. I've had a couple of 750s ('05 and '12). An almost perfect sport bike.
    Race fairings
    1-2 up in rear w/ a 520 conversion. May want to go 1 down up front too...
    cat delete exhaust. I cut the cat off (2012 model), found a mid-pipe, and added a slip-on
    race air filter
    Power Commander was always sufficient in my experience; both model years
    new brake pads. Calipers and master cylinder were adequate. If not up to par, maybe a new master cylinder first; cheaper
    Steel braided brake lines (front for sure)
    new forks or fork internals; new shock
    clip-ons are always a nice add for the track
    rearsets for adjustability
    corsa style windscreen to get behind
    Lithium ion battery
    remove any extra weight possible, e.g. exhaust servo motor, emissions crap, etc.
    slicks w/ 190 rear
    If it's in the budget, new wheels :)
    Have fun with your build!

    If I was going to build a Suzuki GSXR600 or 750.. I would get a Thorsten Durbahn self supporting seat unit. Full carbon and saves a good chunk of weight too. K Tech Cartridge kit for the forks and just get the rear shock serviced and sprung for your weight. A full exhaust system and either remapped or a power commander. Decent brake pads and finally get a Pro Fibre faring from Rich who is also local to you. Job done.
    My little 600 was a little more extreme than that but it did then break the Nurburgring Lap record once it was done.
