I only discovered your channel a few months ago and have enjoyed every one of your videos (I'm still working my way through them). I took the F,A&R class in 2016, then the PCF and AST classes in 2017. I mostly do re-grips and repairs and have forgotten a lot of what Jim taught us so I use your channel as continuing education/refresher classes. Watching this video was like sitting through Jim's classes all over again...in other words I sat in awe of the man's knowledge. Golfworks doesn't need a computer with an expensive data base for golf club technology and history- they have Jim Y. on staff. LOL!
One of these times that you pay them a visit you might consider shooting a video in Mr. Maltby's lab at his "garage"?

pastmyprime thanks, the guys there wanted to go there. I guess the roof came off during one of the storms and since has been repaired. That is certainly in the works

Played the bubble shaft back in 1986 or so. First custom fit driver I had.

I think I have a set of Yonex Titanium + irons with a counter-balanced big butt shaft in them (c.1995 irons?) stored in the basement somewhere. From memory about 5 years ago I got one of the last set of grips for that iron shaft that Yonex had in the UK. So very interesting to hear the description of the reasons for the big butt shafts
to get them now is an ebay purchase or you are getting tour velvets and making them look terrible
I play an old set of Yonex ADX Tour irons with their LTB600 Boron reinforced shafts. I love the irons and was watching to video how they stack up against new graphite iron shafts. Stories claim they are really stiff, mine are rated stiff but I don't know how Yonex's stiff compares to other manufacturers stiff. Any info on the Yonex ADX irons and their shafts will be much appreciated. Thanks Jim, for the informative video and I'm already a subscriber.

With technologies as they are no, it may also run into the shaft needs to be consistent and round, I think it would pass but not without some discussion, putting the shaft into another head would be looked at closely, if the golfer is not aggressive in the swing probably not. The other point with missed is a lot of the shafts (if memory serves) were also bigger tip diameters.
Watched your Epic review... are there any irons made today that don't put the CG extremely low? Have you worked with the hogan ptx pro, they claim to have a more penetrating ball flight? Also I was going to order a couple hybrids from them and they initially stated they could be bent 3 degrees but have since said they won't bend them at all because the mould is too worn?
Love golfworks. Could you talk them in to better shipping rates? Lol. $8 shipping for a pack of ferrules is nuts.

Gotta question for you??? I recently, at 71, changed to a senior flex shaft in my Mizuno 919 hot metal irons, Project X LZ 4.0 A flex shafts. Clubs and shafts feel good, but I am hitting the ball too high. Is there a senior flex low launching iron shaft?
Larry Young that’s a great question, typically when considering A flex shafts a golfer usually is looking for added height. You might consider a few other things. 1) jack the lofts on the clubs, you might get some add length too. Or 2) look for a heavier A flex to control the way you deliver the head to the ball.
Great video what do you think of the ActionLite55 shafts in my 588 Altitude irons Regular
not really familiar with the action lite series, however based on the model of the club it is built for getting the ball in the air. The most important thing is that it works for you
@@McGolf Cheers Jim for replying it certainly has helped took a bit of getting used too but great feel.
My previous irons were FG Tour F5 with DG XP S300, I loved the look of those and thought of trying a KBS Tour 90 Regular after testing some C300 Irons do you think that is a big change ? Also was thinking of strengthening the lofts by 2 degrees to get nearer to the C300 lofts.
With a lower swing speed with a stiff does shaft tend to keep the club face open or will it close.
as a whole it should keep it open
And this is why the average golfer will never find their perfect shaft.
They can if they are fit. Then the golfing journey has begun. As improvements occur the needs will change and the shaft need will too.
@@McGolf Hi thanks for the reply, a big factor is who is doing the fitting, I went with a friend who is a very competent golfer to 3 different fitting sessions with one of the top manufacturers and he was recommended 3 different shafts and 2 different lie angles .
