Okay, I know that these comments are full of "thank yous" but I just wanted to add one more. I take Step in about 2 weeks and, although I passed my practice NBME, I'm not comfortable with the margin and my Uworld scores are scary. Given that we're down to the wire with time, I have been getting lost in the details and overwhelmed while going through First Aid and premade anki decks. Your videos have been an absolute godsend because they clearly distill things down to which details are important to know (and which details I can avoid wasting precious brain space on).
I know this isn't for the MCAT, but if you ARE here for the MCAT, this is a great simple overview. The only other things you need to know on top of this STRICTLY FOR THE MCAT is: oxidative (irreversible) and non oxidative (reversible) steps Non ox uses Ribulose 5-P to synthesize DNA/RNA nucleotides Other than that, this is gold.
Thanks for letting us know exactly what we need to know from the HMP shunt for step 1. Because I can never remember the whole thing. But I can remember one step and an HMP mnemonic!
Love your videos so much! You're saving my life, exam is next week ahhh Also, a heme tie-in for anyone else doing some last-minute biochem cramming: G6PD deficiency --> less NADPH --> less glutathione reduction (and therefore protection against free radicals) --> HEMOLYTIC NORMOCYTIC ANEMIA XLR, Heinz bodies (precipitated denatured Hb), Bite cells (spleen "bites" bad cells). Triggered by dapsone, sulfas, nitrofurantoin, primaquine (malaria), fave beans
I keep wondering when glycolysis starts with glucose, if instead it’s with ketones? How is it affected. Ketones have more energy? Or generate more ATP than 30-32? Or require less ketones to make 30 atp?
I literally suffer from biochemistry phobia. Thanks a lot for making it so easy 👍
mee too
these channel so amazing
Me too 1sr internal coming with more than 3 units to cover 😭
Don't we all 😩

my exam is in 2 weeks and I feel like I've forgotten everything... thanks for the hemo tie-in... Hoping your exam went well ^^
God like
Biochem is the bane of my existence. Good video anyway
same bro, same
Favorite part is that you keep me going despite the phobia I have for biochemistry 🙏🙏
Listening that "watch it again if you need to" line 3rd time
Love how you simplify one of my least favorite topics :'D Bless you kind sir!
I was wachting this for my biochemestry exam in medical school :(
Thanks a lot making things easy to understand! U are literally the best teacher.
Thank you so much for your videos and can you also make a video on Proteoglycans and glycoproteins
Dang bro coolest video on biochemistry i have watched so far
Exactly the summary I needed
thank you so much
Thank you so much for your videos ... they are excellent ...
Your lessons are something else 🥰❤️ thanks
Helpful video for neet pg
HMP shunt also called as Dickens-Horecker pathway
Can you please explain why HMP pathway is also called shunt?
Because Glucose 6 Phosphate is shunted from glycolysis to HMP
Second to the replier as it is alternate pathway
where is part 2 of Hmp shut as u mentioned?
The glutathione video is part 2
Hi! I have a question: is 6-phosphogluconate the same thing as 6-phosphogluconolactone? Thank you!
hnp S-hunt occurs in the S-ytoplasm
Excellent video. Just suscribed.
Sir, you are an angel
Sir, it's gem, not dirty at all, lol💎💎💎
Part 2 to the HMP Shunt is video #17 below.

in condition of starvation the ketones bodies metabolism start

What is the common point in glycolysis and HMP shunt
Glucose-6-phosphate
Hmp shunt doesnt occur in rbc?
occurs in rbc liver adipose tissue adrenal gland testes lactating mammary glands etc.....
