I've watched so many videos and this is the first girl AND she doesn't make the guy air up the tires. That got me to subscribe without even seeing the rest of the video. This Chanel is some of the exact same stuff I visualize in my future. Definitely going to have to watch all the videos you guys. You have the right idea; drive & then have some fun!
Lauryn's always game for anything! Check out #LaurynOffroad for more of our adventures as a pair.
I ended up buying that truck last July from subaru in Oregon City. I wondered how the winch snapped.. taken it out but I haven't bought a replacement yet. Great little truck I really enjoy it. Only been in the snow a few times with it and it's done great.
What a crazy coincidence
Thanks Mike for all these snowy landscapes and beautiful nature!!!
Finally Lauryn returns! She's been missed
Hah! For us poor folk, we use a come along... super safe... oh crap... just caught the winch breaking!! Last time I was in that spot I used a snowblower to clear a path. All part of the fun. Glad you made it out!
Maybe next time I should take my Snowblower with me as a recovery tool too! Would have worked :-)
Oh wow, this adventure we will remember for long :-) Thank God you both are safe now :-)
Need a snatch block to do one too much stress on the watch something I learned in the military when vehicles or mart up to over the axle then secondary snatch block can help you get out
Hi, new here. Fun vedio! I Just bought my Taco Trd O.R 2023 and stumbled here looking for examples of crawl mts mode. I’m confused, why didn’t you use that option when you were stuck? Or do some trd off roads not come equipped with it? Lauren is awesome by the way! Girls who wheel rule.
I have hard mine to the frame. Your done.
Next time straighten your front wheels when trying to get out.
Shovelling out the snow under your truck can make getting unstuck easier.
The pull angle on the winch looked pretty bad. You can run the winch cable backwards under your truck to a better angled anchor if it exists.
A Hi lift jack can be used as a hand winch with your straps and cables but you must know how to use it safely before you need to use it in the field.
A locking rear diff is very valuable and a good reason to select the TRD off Road over the Sport version.
Using the MTS traction system in 4W low can somewhat simulate a locking front diff in a pinch.
Of all the bad luck - the winch breaks! That made for a long off road day. Still looked like a lot of fun
The worst part is now I have to find a day to replace it...
Nice video!!🤘
Wow I’m surprised that you could not make it up with the taco and you had to use the winch . I had a 2015 stock 4Runner SR5 with original tires and after a month of owning it, we had 26 inches of snow I was driving around where everyone else was stuck. Maybe because it was a regular road and not a mountains. At 15.30 on the video she was definitely stuck though.
Why no snow chains??
Awesome video! Do you have crawl control?
The winch always works when youre fucking around, then as soon as you need it, it fails
Looks like you’re in the Bend area. I am too and just bought a 2021 TRD off-road at Kendall about a month ago. Nice channel.
Possibly a noob question, but where did you get your air down tool? Seen at 2:20 in the video. The one that connects all 4 tires at once.
Lauryn makes me wish for her all the best and happiness 😆 Mike was to go home by...4pm? 😂
Little kids are always hard between nap time and bed time so trying to share the burden with my wife!
Nice video guys but i have to ask, can you tell me the brand name of your roof racks? Thanks..
Wait, so who is Lauryn exactly, if your wife and the kids came to the rescue? Your wife must be pretty cool Mike. Not sure my wife would be so understanding Haha 🤣
Lauryn's a close friend and yes my wife was very gracious about the situation!
Find yourself in a situation like this again...be sure to call me!
But ...ya know..
it made for a great video! Did you see the front end of your truck when the winch let go?...YIKES!
How could I have missed it 😔
Best thing to bring is a shovel
Beautiful area! Awesome video!
What brand winch? Can you show the damage?
Traction boards can be used as shovel. dig really really deeper will work.
Rule #1: Cheap winches will let you down
Can u make a viedo of the pilot in the snow? Show if u need the vtm4 to get through
That would be a fun adventure for sure!
Did you forget the shovel? I’d have cleared some snow away from tires before attempting the winch.
Yes and I did a fair amount of clearing.... maybe not enough
Quit being cheap....buy a Warn and be done with it! My 8000 lb Warn is on it's second Tacoma via cradle hitch mount front/rear, used for skidding logs, hoisting and a host of other unadvised tasks. Also the best for self recovery.
What model would you recommend? I am looking at other options and considering the VR EVO 10-S... that said my Rough Country Winch has worked very well for me up until now and its been used a fair bit.
@@DrivenCompanion That's what I'd go with....I think you can get the steel cable version for some less. I prefer steel cable, you have to be so careful with synthetic and there are simply things you can't really do without jeopardizing your synthetic line like log skidding and atypical pulls. Another thing is if you go the cradle/reciever hitch route you can use it on any vehicle you set up with receivers and power disconnects....you could potentially use the same winch on all your vehicles & store it out of the elements.
Wish I access to views like that in my area.
I'm trying to decide on which tires to get for my 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. KO2's, Goodyear Duratratrac's, or Goodyear Ultraterrain AT's, what would you go with? I'm looking for good snow performance.
Ko2
My 100$ tracktion boards have served me well over their last year. Used many many times. No broken pieces yet. Also you can buy a winch for 500$ lol. Enjoy. Great video
You can also buy gas station sushi.
@scrumdiddily6162 true. My warn Evo 8vs disagrees with you to an extent! I have made side by side comparisons to my 100$ traction boards to the waaayyyy over priced ones..I will Take the 100$ every time...
Great video! Sorry about wench.
Wifey to the rescue, no need to take unnecessary risk testing gear. Safety first!
Great video!
That was a violent break.
Hey great video! Wanted to ask, have you noticed any mileage change with the soft shell FSR tent mounted at that height? Was looking at the exact same layout (voodoo bars, tuneau cover, FSR soft shell in line with roof height), and was curious if you saw any impact at the gas tank. Do you leave the tent on year round, or take it on and off? Any other thoughts on the setup are great as well, thanks in advance.
Glad you made it out alive I also keep jerky in my tacoma juuuust incase lmao I'm always getting into trouble in the middle of nowhere. Was that a harbor freight winch?
How does one join you snow wheeling in their Taco?
Nice truck! What size lift, and wheels are you running? And what brand of tires?
On a side note...where and the of the name of the tent rack?I have a 2016 TRD Sport with a factory bed cover and want a rack to go over....how is the brackets holding up with using the tentu
KB Voodoo. Just bought them second hand but they seem to be holding up well
What tires are these
Lauryn!!!
What bed rack is that? I like the minimalist look!
KBVoodoo
I recently bought a new to me 2018 Tacoma SR5 4x4, I notice that Lauryn aired your tires down before you got into the deeper snow. My question is how low can you safely air down to without having the tire break loose from the rims? I live in Colorado and I occasionally get up into the mountains to take photos. I used to have a 2000 Toyota Tundra and it was a bit heavier than this Tacoma. I used to carry 320 lbs of weights in the Tundra for better tracion, but 320 lbs in the Tacoma may be a bit too much.
I like to go to about 15-18 to be careful but there are many that will go to single digits.
@@DrivenCompanion Thanks, I know if you go too low it can damage the sidewalls. Then when you get back on hardball roads you could have a blowout which is not cool at all. Not to mention possibly getting dirt of other matter in the bead.
New to channel, I’m confused. What is Lauryns relation to mike? Is it just me or does mike look like stradman?
Lauryn's a close family friend
LOL, I'm new to the channel, but that's what I was thinking. Yea, I don't think my wife would be coming to my rescue! Beautiful scenery!
Aw Lauryn is back 😍
what trail is this looks fun
Didn't get home for curfew and the wife had to come get you. GROUNDED!
If you can believe it she wasn't even mad - I think she knew I was frustrated enough with myself!
I have 3 sets of USAction Trax Gen2.0 Best recovery boards every. Very weird, I had the EXACT same cheap ones as you, but in green. They all exploded.
Nice! The night and day difference between these and my old ones is amazing - I think I need 2 more though!
How much longer is the DCLB over the ACLB?
13"
Do you think using MTS could have gotten out of it?
We tried that
Glad you got out okay, great video! How much was your winch rated for???
Thanks! Its rated at 9500 lbs
How do you mount actiontrax??
Sounds like you forgot the shovel?
Oh there was plenty of shoveling... but hard to hold a camera while using the shovel
What recovery ropes did you attach from the 4Runner to the Taco? Did those help at all?
Its a Rhino USA strap - I highly recommend it: amzn.to/2KlvnDh
@@DrivenCompanion I thought so. I believe I have that one. Did it help pull you out at all?
Always buy a quality winch!
Which location is this one ?? Cascade mountain WA ?
Oregon Cascades
@@DrivenCompanion Thanks, it looks pretty... have seen other ones as well but this one is really nice !!
Lauryn adds to the fun!
5:58 What are the mountain peaks over there?
Cascade Mtns
@@DrivenCompanion Gorgeous view!
What was that air down hose thing????
Morrflate. Go check it out!
Awesome thank you! Love your Tacoma videos!! You guys are awesome!!!! New subscriber here!!
A snow shovel would have helped clear a path. The traction board isn’t as effective for moving snow out of the way.
Oh I did plenty of clearing with the shovel. I could have done more but I did move a lot of snow :-)
werer you aired down at all?
Yes, about 18.5 psi
Lauren is awesome! She is so fun!
It’s strange that James never even once mentioned you or your channel.
He will but wants $4K for it...
@@DrivenCompanion lol YIKES!
Sweet video. 🇺🇲 all the way!..but, Max Trax are $299 not $500.
The basic model is $299 but its $499 for the metal toothed model like this. Action trax also sells a model for $269 that has plastic teeth.
@@DrivenCompanion Gotcha, never seen them!
@@michaeltill1053 I went with a set of ARB Tred Pro traction boards ($300).

Where is this place?
Central Oregon
Hence the need for a bigger lift kit!
why didn't anyone push from the front? how happy was your wife coming to your aid? What's the point of recovery gear if you have to use someone else to pull you out?
I tried pushing several times while Lauryn reversed... just couldn't hold the camera at the same time
Coming to his aid? Look at it as being badass that she didn't sit on her phone the entire time. Only some of it which I would have too if it was freezing haha. & I never used recovery gear so it was pretty useless to me so far. The people pulling me out of the lake and the ditch and digging our way out whatever i was stuck in at the time.. well they were the gear. And sometimes their truck and that yellow rope. This girl needs Toyota to buy her a truck. You guys are genuine & that was nice of you to get those people gas.
@@tiffanylarcade9275 his wife was in the 4Runner
@@gvsukids she wasn't in the truck the entire time..
@@gvsukids she was probably researching important stuff on her phone. Still a fan
No1 filmed the boards at work? Hmmm 😄😄😄😄
At that point I was just trying to not spend the night in the woods.... filming was low on my list of priorities 😄
lol thousands of dollars in off road gear/upgrades....even a winch....ummm ever heard of chains?
Thousands? Well I may have to get your advice then.. so do you do jumps? A lot of people have that front end that I think is ugly for some reason and want to keep the grill (I can't remember the name but it makes the grill shorter) is there a way to do jumps and get under carriage gear without getting that piece? I'm going to have to Google it to figure out what it's called haha but hopefully you know what I'm talking about
Ummm crawl control
We tried that..
wow built in the usa? Automatically better than built anywhere else. You're so right. lmfao
Stop looking at your woman and push 😒
She is Bad driver
Finally Lauryn returns! She's been missed
