So, well... the second recovery of this video hit really close to home for my family and I. Rich, Jethro, and Bailey are dear to us. We moved to Utah in June of 22 not knowing what we were going to do. We lived around in the forests and public lands in our old trailer for months while i was working to find us a home. Which we have managed to find!!! 🙏
We were livin in the bush around Cedar and my dog Choop went missing. It was very emotional for us. He wasnt wearing a collar so it was up to him. We searched for 4 days. We were sitting in the RV eating dinner dreading his loss. The door was open and he jumpped inside! We all lost it! I started whaling like a baby.
First thing the next day we got him a new collar and tag. 2 days after we had him he was gone again. Now i was mad. It wasnt like him at all to do this.
We received a call from, you guessed it! Rich the bearded woodsman! Choop met Bailey the old hound dog and he was in love. Jethroe didnt seem too excited. We met up with them that afternoon and got to know eachother. Choop had even got in the red truck and gone to town with them. We were sadeded to take Choop from his new lady friend.
After we returned our boy back to camp I wanted to give Rich a gift for being so good to my buddy boy. I brought him 5 gallons of gas. Guy drives a Triton for petes sake. Figured he could use it. Seeing Matt pour a keg into that truck and watching him love up Bailey was honestly wild. IVE DONE THE SAME!
We are happy that Matt was able to help Rich God bless you guys, and if you guys read this novel, please pray for Rich and his dogs.
    Thank you. That is all.

Just plain silly, that you spend your time locking and unlocking your hubs. With the type of vehicles you have and the type of work that you do, unlocking hubs is just not needed. 50 or 60 years ago, unlocking hubs was an option that some people would have, but did not come standard with part-time 4wd. There is improved mileage running unlocked hubs in 2WD. But that’s with normal trucks with normal tires running down paved highways. You trailer your vehicle to a dirt road. You would never see a difference in mileage driving part of the trip in 2WD with hubs unlocked compared with driving in 2WD with hubs locked. And as far as wear and tear on the drive line, with the transfer case in 2WD, there is no load on the front drive line so wear is almost nonexistent. To give you an example, my father worked 40 years in the oil refinery industry. Their part-time 4wd trunks had their hubs locked 6 months out of every year. The reason they started doing this was because the hubs that were left unlocked in winter was the weakest link.

    • @Person-ly6im

I really liked the customer in the last recovery with the two dogs (Rudy, I think he said his name was). He seemed genuinely humbled by being helped by Matt and Tom-Tom, as though he was a very independent soul getting by on his own living a hard scrabble life out there in a VERY RURAL part of America--very different from the usual customer out playing around in a 4x4 toy in their leisure time. From what I perceive of Matt through these videos, I bet he was honored to have the opportunity to lend him a hand.

In Missouri, you are required to have a containment system if you have a certain quantity of fuel. We used to buy 1000s of gallons. Typically, it wasn't any cheaper than the gas station. Unless you are burning 100s of gallons a day, it isn't worth the hassle.

    • @thegrayhillbilly

I dislike the unneeded wheel spin (and further erosion) 2wd creates. My hubs get locked in the instant I hit the dirt. Nothing like dropping into a 2ft deep mud hole and needed to get out and lock hubs. Used to hunt on a property and the owner made you stay in 4x anywhere even his gravel drive, if you spun one rock he would get angry.

It was also nice to outline the Arizona strip on the map and state WHY it's called that. I never knew its extent or WHY it was so named despite having been there to see the north side of the Grand Canyon.
