I have a 2016 Nissan Altima with a 3.5 liter V6 Engine (only 6% of Altimas sold have a V6 according to Nissan) and it comes FULLY loaded for thousands less than the base model Maxima and the engine is the exact same engine as the Maxima. Per Nissan, the only difference is it is set up with 30 less horsepower in order to get that great Altima gas savings . I average 40 plus miles per gallon n the interstate, and when I drive this car in Sports mode, it REALLY books! WHY get a Maxima?!
T 16 Maxima totally does, all the materials are more beautiful, complex and expensive and it’s like sitting in a cockpit of a race car. However, do I want to pay thousands more for that alone. Personally I would, but I like the interior of the Altima better because I sit higher in a sedan-like interior and feel like I have better line of sight, but that’s a personal preference. Very good review , I have a 2012 maxima and have only had 1 problem, my air conditioning started to blow hot air. But other than that ive never had a CVT problem. I have 105,000 miles on it now.
I’ve never been a cvt fan but the cvt in the 2019/20 altimas are quite good. Much better than the new 8-speed transmissions in the latest gen Toyota Camry for which there are many complaints. The revised 2.5 inline 4 is much more refined as well.
Their CVTs have had ridiculously awful reliability for the last 15 years. It's not uncommon to hear of them failing at 30, 45k miles. Mine is at 90k and no transmission failure so far (did have an issue at 40k that was "fixed" by a reprogram of the transmission control unit). However, I just had all 4 control arms replaced, and all the front & rear sway bar brackets and bushings replaced. Also the upper engine mount and the lower front engine mount were completely split apart. I'll never buy another Nissan.

I'm only 19, but I've driven late model Nissan Altimas as rental cars. They're great, but I would never want to buy one brand new, or lease one for 2 years, knowing that any day that CVT will go out. I wish they'd either go to conventional automatics or buy CVTS from another car manufacturer. I know Scotty Kilmer personally, and we talked for over an hour about Nissan's transmissions and how they're actually getting worse with time and that people get less time out of them than the early years of the CVTs in Nissans. I understand that CVTS get excellent gas mileage, but I would never buy a car for a few dollars extra saved at the pump for compromised reliability and durability. I own a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis and I like it a lot, and chose it over a 2010 Altima for the same price of $5000.
I just got a 2020 Altima SL for a rental car...I must say, I am quite impressed! light years ahead of an Altima rental I got back in 2014. Good job, Nissan....but, I will stick to being a Lexus family.

Yeah, people don't understand steel rims and alloy. I'll take alloy on any day. I've had steel rims on my Xterra and that shit was so annoying and loud on the road. Alloy absorbs that annoying bumps.
My daughter owned a 2011 Nissan Altima that the empty console caught on fire and burned the entire front seat area during the night in our driveway. Nissan corporation's response... "it's is older than 4 years so we are not legally obligated to investigate the cause." Lawyer said I would lose thousands trying to sue them for reimbursement and endangering my daughter's life. I WILL NEVER OWN A NISSAN AGAIN!
Ok, I know it's a rental but...The first thing I noticed was how harsh the ride was with the tire and wheel combo. Hitting potholes and bumps(you can't miss every one of them) was very jarring. The lack of acceleration was very noticable too. It felt like I was mashing it with very little acceleration to get on highway or to make traffic corrections. The CVT seems so sluggish and unresponsive to normal driving conditions. But, with only 30,000 miles the interior seems to rattle like a car with double the milage. The infotainment center is hard to see when sunlight is bright and seems odd just sticking out of the dash. After driving it around a few days, I'm glad I'm not an owner. For the price of these things, I would have been disappointed. Good thing it's a rental.

Drivers Only True, I heard the will make them until 2023. Nice Altima though, not my first pick, but I like the AWD option. I think more cars should option it. It is an essential for me, for it snows where I live often in winter.
I had a 2017 Maxima. I downgraded to 2020 Altima SL. Simply because I believed in the pro pilot assist technology. This car is simply mind blowing, its a fatigue less car. I am now addicted to it. Distances have shortened as it relieves you so much of stress while on road. Its unbelievable what the pro pilot assist can do. At slow moving traffic less than 10 miles/hr, you don’t even need to hold the wheel as it steers for you fully autonomous. At such affordable price, such kind of perfect autonomous technology is hugely praiseworthy. Kudos Nissan. Its useless to go behind big brands when you get so much comfort at such affordable price. This car simply floats and you will surely feel proud of owning it.
No it doesn’t, it will hold it on auto break and when the vehicle in front of you moves, you can press resume button to proceed in cruise. The cruise/pro pilot assist is extremely useful and well thought. At very slow moving traffic, it doesn’t even require you to hold the wheel once pro pilot kicks in.
@@DaaToyTV yes sir :) I just got it for my next lease and I am already addicted to the various autonomous features. Makes this a complete fatigue less car. Though people are complaining about cvt, but I feel its a great car and it also has a sports button on the shifter to get some extra juice when you want it. This car is a blessing in heavy traffic as well as smooth sailing on highways.
@@DaaToyTV What do you mean it shuts off? Will try to take a video and demonstrate 😀. It shouldn’t shut off, it should come to a stop, when vehicle in front of you moves, press the resume button.

It's very nice model.I love it
nissan is getting better and better
I’m trying to get this car now !!!! I love it
Dude, Alt season is in full force, where did you go?
I got this car its so beautiful
Nice!
Dude. That very informative reviews...👍👍 way better than REDLINE_REVIEW guy for sure... You should pump out more auto review videos like this every week. Also you just found a new subscriber.
Thank you! I am releasing 3-4 videos a week so stay tuned. :)
how dare you talk shit about Sofine Bae. take it back.
@trippplefive. To be honest with you... he sucks !
Lmfao you're joking bro. Redline Reviews did perfectly fine and Sofyan knows what he's talking about and certainly wouldn't have said this looks like an Audi or Mercedes interior because it doesn't.
U deserve much more subs bruh. Great review 👍
Thanks appreciate it.
His voice is damn monotone
Until the CVT fails hopefully they have fixed the issues by now
@Financially CodedI have a civic with cvt I think I'm a trade it in for a mazda with regular 6 speed I don't trust technology yet
eso510 Don’t bro. Mazdas are great looking but they are just like Ford.... problematic
@@GodsloveMuzik damn really well I hope this CVT on the civic holds up cuz 4000 dollars is a lot for a new trannny and I know they don't rebuilt CVT
eso510 Better alternatives to the Mazda 6 are Camry, Accord, Optima, Altima, Passat (dependant on trim but go for base model with 1.5L) and the Sonata, which is the same as the Kia Optima.
Keep in mind that there’s no mention of any American cars. Going to an an American car dealership is equivalent to going to the junkyard.
eso510 they haven’t I’ve had 3 put in mine in 65k miles one took a shit 2 months after they installed it ..
35mpg with a almost 300hp turbo ? Well god damn.
I have a 2013 volkswagen passat but I'm renting a 2021 altima while it's in the shop I think Imma trade it in for 2019 or 2020 altima it's so great on gas and it handles great
It's just missing a direct shift AT and the AWD system should be available with the VC-Turbo engine. Thanks.
Excellent review, very detailed.
That is a beautiful car.
If nissan gets rid of the cvt no need to get a infinity anymore
First of all you don't know nothing about Infiniti. Can't even spell the name right. It's always people like you who run their fingers on the net. and act like they driven every car.
That CVT is a bitch
What about the known transmission problems with Nissan Altimas, have they fixed that issue?
I got a Ford Fiesta se it’s a good little run about but love this
What model and trim are you showing in this video? I do not like the checkered carbon fiber on the doors and cup holders it feels cheap to me but I actually love the look of this model
superb car awesome features
Nissan Turbo and CVT..... What could possibly go wrong?
I have a 2012 Altima and I love it to this day.
Does Spotify work with the Bluetooth? How does the maps work on the screen do you have to connect your phone?
Yes it all work Through Apple or Android play so yes it works to your phone
This was a very informative and helpful review. You helped me out, so I left you a like. Thank you!
It’s 2020 and the resolution in these high end cars are low smh that makes no sense to me
If only Nissan would give this nice design to the Rogue Sport...
My 2003 nissan Altima 2.5, 5 speed automatic transmission is the best altima ever
XD
Looks good 👍
How reliable are the new gen cvt transmissions on the Altima?
Love this car I want one or the new Sentra it looks like a mini altima
Yes I want to review it once it's out
Beware of the sentras. My friend has a 2018 and already had to replace the engine.
@WDWfan yeah i got a ford fiesta its prerty wuick off the line its lighr weigjt and gets good gas milage thanks for tje info
@WDWfan lookin at nissan this week for a deal tjanks again
"something its competitors lack, AWD."
The Ford Fusion has had an AWD option since 2007 and doesn't have a CVT.
Except the fusion is being discontinued
Drivers Only True, I heard the will make them until 2023. Nice Altima though, not my first pick, but I like the AWD option. I think more cars should option it. It is an essential for me, for it snows where I live often in winter.
That car is wack. I've rented that damn thing for a week 'cause my Wife family was visiting and ugh... But it isn't the worst.
Ike N Yeah, that makes the car that is produced in 2022, a 2023 model year car. Either way they are going bye bye.
Handles well at height speeds as well
"I'm 5'10 I've got plenty of room." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Me: Well I know I won't fit.
I’m 6’2 and have plenty of room
When driving in traffic with the auto pro pilot when you come to a complete stop does it shut off?
No it doesn’t, it will hold it on auto break and when the vehicle in front of you moves, you can press resume button to proceed in cruise. The cruise/pro pilot assist is extremely useful and well thought. At very slow moving traffic, it doesn’t even require you to hold the wheel once pro pilot kicks in.
@@MusicAnirban are you sure?
@@DaaToyTV yes sir :) I just got it for my next lease and I am already addicted to the various autonomous features. Makes this a complete fatigue less car. Though people are complaining about cvt, but I feel its a great car and it also has a sports button on the shifter to get some extra juice when you want it. This car is a blessing in heavy traffic as well as smooth sailing on highways.
@@MusicAnirban I agree 100% 0 stress in traffic now, but mine still shuts off when traffic comes to a complete stop?
@@DaaToyTV What do you mean it shuts off? Will try to take a video and demonstrate 😀. It shouldn’t shut off, it should come to a stop, when vehicle in front of you moves, press the resume button.
CVT yet again no thanks, 2009 Altima is the best version
Those are pretty nice, but I like the looks of the 2010 and 2011 Altimas better. My wife had a 2010 and it was a great car. She'd still have it if a distracted driver hadn't rear ended it. She has a 2016 now and has had no problems with it. The gas mileage has been amazing.
I still have my year 2000 Nissan Altima worh 200,000 miles on it.
I want one so bad
Are you EddieX?
Nissans look amazing, but I'm just worried about the reliability of them.
Nissan Motor Co. will go bankrupt within two to three years, Carlos Ghosn told a defense attorney during more than 10 hours of interviews before the auto executive skipped bail and left Japan.
I have the option between this and a 2020 Chevy malibu. Which should i get and why?
@Law and Games. I rented a 2021 Chevy Malibu after my car accident (not my fault). Test drove 2022 Nissan Altima at local dealership. Saw a survey of 8-10 makes listed on line, ranked 1-8 or 1-10. Nissan rated #3, Malibu ranked last. I purchased through a rental car sales company a 2020 Nissan Altima 2.5 S in the ext/int colors I wanted. Saved over
$4200 on purchase price.
Which model is the most fully loaded Altima?
What about that CVT transmission how long is that gonna last. I would rather have a 6ol or 8 speed automatic transmission
The infotainment screen will almost make you tint the windows!
I like nissan Altima 2012 and 2015
Nice car👌👌
My Altima s doesn’t have that blue button on the steering wheel so what did I buy ?
That’s for pro pilot assist. I have it on Altima SL
Good review. How about the 2020 TRD PRO SEQUÍA
Funny you ask, it's coming this sunday :)
Awesome! Can’t wait. Thanks.
Just Absolutely Beautiful 💛💙💛💙
Where is the paddle shifter?
