Literally got mine on the day this video came out and let me tell you... one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life! Definitely an amazing car and worth every single penny!
This is your 5th Altima review in 2 years..... Your reviews was one of the main reasons I bought an Altima Platinum AWD..... Needed AWD vs turbo due to the snow
@@IlissaMR there's no update to fix their shit transmissions. Nissan buys these transmissions from a third party company called Jatco. They've been through multiple lawsuits and they still continue to use them. Don't ever buy a Nissan after 2007 because the trans will fail on you
I have a 2007 with 306,000 miles, dealership changed the CVT @ 28000,just under the warranty at that time of 30000 because of a whinnying noise, nothing else. No other major issues. Just got lucky on this one
@Luis Gustavo Actually my wife owns a CRV with cvt and I had a long term Altima rental with one. There is no comparison. Personally I drive stick, like a man.
I have been nonstop watching Nissan videos lately and your videos too. So this was very convenient to see during this time of my life. I will buy the Altima turbo very soon, thanks!
Over time mines has gotten faster. Mpg up real good. Dont gun mines much when taking off and it goes faster. I know the engine and cvt sweet spots. Good review.
I drove two different Altimas as rentals while my car was in the shop. This new gen is very comfortable and an excellent daily. I really like the seats, the dash layout and blind spot monitoring on the inside of the door. A lot of very nice touches that add up to a great experience. I can’t speak for the long term reliability but the CVT was surprisingly pleasant, it’s not as bad as others and it gets you really good gas mileage. The Altima is great but it’s just a little hard to recommend after the new Sonata came out
People dont realize that the cvt you cant just smash the pedal and you have to do transmission fluid change every 60k miles with only NISSAN CVT FLUID not some cheap quick lube shop.
I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 200,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.
Taking off in the morning for a 6 day road trip from Reno NV to So Cal....my 2017 Optima SXL should easily do 36MPG on the 480 Mile trip to Temecula...as it's all downhill!! finally a road trip!! Thanks for your hard work!
Nissan is crazy. They have amazing styled cars that are devastated due to their third part CVT’s. It shocks me that they don’t have enough money to design a simple 8spd transmission. Accord Sport 2.0t 6-speed for me 🔥
Well being that they own the company that makes their CVT, you would think changes would be made and new gear boxes would be used just like Toyota and Honda
@N0RT2G0RD4U That's a transmission designed for longitudinal RWD layouts, as was the 7-speed. It won't fit in any of Nissan's CVT-equipped vehicles which mount their drivetrains transversely.

I love the Cvt as well, my 16’ Altima has simulated shifts mimics 7spd and my 19 vc-turbo mimics an 8spd. It does a very good job of doing so. I haven’t had any issues from my 16’ and I’ve been pretty tough on it. My 19’ I haven’t had long but I have faith in it as well. If you allow them to warm up, and service them they’ll last. Also people even Nissan techs blame Cvt when it’s typically something else. I just joined maxima post and they just had theirs replaced at 54k miles but guess what? 11 miles later it’s same issue so it wasn’t Cvt! 🤦🏻♂️
I saw one of these VC-turbo models on the highway as I was driving through Louisiana on my way to Texas! That one was the edition one model tho in the white color with those dark finish wheels it was pretty nice!
Joe pretty much summed up my decision at 18:19 when he went for a 0 to 60 run. That's literally like 1 second of Turbo lag when you're launching from a dead stop. Even my 2015 Altima which is the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder is immediately quick and responsive as soon as i step on the pedal from a stop light. I am hoping one day Nissan gets rid of their CVT one day and give us an AWD Manual with 10 speed Automatic. That would be my dream

Owner of a 2017 Altima SR, here, midnight edition, with a 100k extended (full coverage) warranty. Thus far, I have 54k miles on the odometer, with one of those infamous (paddle shift) CVT. And guess what? It still runs like new. Absolutely no complaints and zero problemo's!! Same goes for our 2013 Rogue (213k miles) and 2009 370z (112k miles). Absolutely no problemos, with any of them. Sry to disappoint you all :) but I digress... Anyway, not really a big fan of the new Altima, though. Saw a few in person, even went to the dealer and sat in one. I like the grill/front fascia and tail lights but thats about it. From a distance, and especially from the back, everything just seems dimensionally smaller. Like it has a more boxy sorta 90's profile to it. And that floating c-pilar -- who thought that was a good idea? I think its a bit of an eye sore/ugly, myself. That said, can't wait for the new Z to get here. Unlike the bland new Altima, hope they do it justice.
Will it last as long as a ‘94 Toyota Celica? I Really wish they didn’t use CVT because I like some of their styling. Would it make sense to leave a Nissan vs buy? This way you don’t have to worry about CVT breaking.
Depends. If you lease you don't have to work about repairs since it's covered under warranty and after 3 years you can walk away from the car. However, imo leasing is a waste of money. It's hard to recommend purchasing the vehicle because of the longterm reliability question. I have a 2016 altima with about 93.500 miles on it but I'm trading it in once it's reaches 100k miles because it'll be out of warranty and can't take the change with the cvt going out on it. Do your research.
I love your reviews I am very happy to see that you review every car from top model to the lower models from midrange cars to very flagship cars . I just want you to review 2020 Camaro Zl1 or SS and the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali XL because I am gonna buy these cars maybe next year or towards the end of this year. There are actually no reviews of 2021 GMC Yukon Denali XL on TH-cam so I want to know about that car and want to know why should I buy it over the 2021 Suburban. Love you Raiti's Rides 💓.
Hey joe quick question .. in your honest opinion do you think nissans can become great cars with those cvt engines?? Or are they doom in the car industry?
I automatically give props for Nissan continuing to duke it out in a segment where Ford, Chrysler and GM threw their hands up and left in a huff. Nissan needs to add a few features (ventilated front seats cuz it’s hot in Texas) to keep up with the fierce competition. Hyundai and Kia both launched tomahawks in this segment so nissan has to to keep an eye out to keep the Altima fresh. Overall not bad
Pretty good performance but CVT is a zonk. I like the Accord better. What’s the correct HP? You said 236 and description says 247. Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I’m considering buying the 2.0 SR Altima .. currently sitting at the dealer for 23k for some pretty nice options.. I’m currently renting the 2.5 SR & I like that they added paddle shifters makes the drive more fun also idk if the other trims have it but there is a sport mode button right on the shift knob (looks like a minus sign) and it does make the car a bit more aggressive for sure
How much torque steer is there when you floor the turbo? I had a 2013 Altima, and even with just the normally aspirated 4 cylinder, there was considerable torque steer and wheelspin, especially in the wet. Too bad they dont make AWD available with the turbo.
So I bought one of these soon after they came out. I wanted the propilot feature and as much horsepower as I could get. My main disappointment is that on my car I have a 2 second delay upon flooring the accelerator until I get movement (this is from a dead stop). If moving I still have the same delay before I sense any acceleration. This is hazardous from a dead stop. My son was driving us one day, and he caught a brief break in traffic while attempting to turn left across two lanes and the hesitation nearly got us hit. He is used to driving an underpowered small car that does not have that delay. Just my car, or do they all do it?
I think it’s tuned that way so you don’t burn out all the way to 30mph. I notice the same thing but it’s designed that way for this engine. My 16’ 2.5 (same Cvt just different simulated shifts) doesn’t have that delay.
I wonder how reliable is this VC Turbo! I also don't like CVTs but I think the average person won't know the difference unless you are a car enthusiast like me. I see a lot of these on the streets. I rented one last month and I will say the CVT is improved vs the previous generation, I just hope they have improved on its reliability. Me personally I would go Honda Accord 2.0t with manual transmission!
Doubt they can, out of all the money invested with the CVT it would simply cost too much to switch so they’re better off just ringing off what they got left until they go out of business
Wrong nobody really cares about a CVT only car enthusiast they are gas savers and if you don’t maintenance them it will break just like every other car maybe a little sooner 🤣 but I had to of them never gave me a problem
They have gotten a lot better and much more reliable. Works great on cars like this. The new pathfinder is losing it and getting standard AWD which should shake things up
Josue Sicario what money? Jatco? Jatco been making crappy CVT's for a better part of two decades now. Nissan could have easily gone elsewhere, but they refuse to.
Savage Geese (TH-cam channel) did a video on a 2016 maxima and he said that the cvt in that vehicle was one of the better ones he had driven. Why do you think that is with the V6 @Ricky A Robinson
@@consciousawakening4799 because it is tuned differently and the power of the V6 is that much more that when he goes "on throttle" it responds quicker. The 4 cylinder engines matched with the CVT feel sluggish
@@rnicarh2o I am in a 2016 Altima, 93,500 miles on it. I'm going to trade it in by 100,000 because it will be out of warranty otherwise. Considering the 17-18 Mazda Cx-5, 2020 Mazda 6, or 19-20 Kia Optima. I know Nissan will try to retain my business though I prefer to go a different direction. Would you based on your experience with Nissan have any RELIABLE suggestions to make in terms of a Nissan vehicle to consider? The only one I considered lightly was a 16-18 Maxima partly because of the reasons you and others had stated (Us car news states they have higher reliability also).
That CVT is hilarious! I'm not sure why I'm watching this but I think it's because of Covid. I do like your style of reviews though. I plan on getting a Polestar but not until I can get a test drive.
as cvts go the altima and maxima have like maybe 2 of the best ones but i wish they did the accord move and gave the one with the more powerful engine a proper automatic
As soon as I hear CVT, I'm out. I'd call it more X-lax than X-tronic (whatever that means). After I've eaten 6 7-Eleven hot dogs (with chili and onions) on a cross-country drive, those seats are going to wish they were ventilated.
Forget the hard numbers Joe.. how many twinkie boxes 📦 can I fit in the Trunk? Love the videos. I am thinking of putting off buying my new car just to keep watching your reviews more frequently.
Nissan will never change the CVT, they will just improve it and it has gotten a lot better, my parents drive a 2012 SL Altima and it has over 200,000 km and still going
I’m so confused with what to get. I just commented on your video on the Subaru Ascent and said okay that’s what I want. Now I’m debating about this one right now. I have an 2009 Altima now and don’t mind it. This looks so nice, I have a lot to debate about. Also I live in nyc so snow capability is important for me. Which is why I was looking at the Subaru ascent
Raiti's Rides good point!!!! I keep saying it would be nice to have the extra space but it’s not necessary. Plus I drive everyday to work about 50miles round trip for 5 days. Gas mileage is another consideration.
Sucks you can't get the turbo with AWD and if only Nissan would drop the damn CVT it's killing them from a driver engagement and reliability a I know about 10 ppl with Nissan products after 2015 and every single one has had issues with the CVT a a few of them had to get them replaced I miss the pre Renault days love what you do man keep bringing great content what's the chances we'll see 4k car reviews from you
Joe...you know when you sit in an interior and all of the materials are good and build quality is good...but at the same it just feels a bit cheap!? Like sitting in a Chevrolet Blazer. Interior materials and fit and finish is great...but it has a certain cheapness to it? I feel like this car has some of that. It might just be my picky self. Materials in this vs. the Accord are pretty much the same... but it just doesn't feel as nice.
Thanks Joe, for an integral perspective on Altima. I sat in an Altima Platinum, but couldn't test drive it. I like that It has an awd option ( Unlike the Maxima) however I think a V6 would be better than the current engine. I think merging the Maxima and the Altima, would be best. The mean look of the Maxima, awd & perks of the Altima Platinum. Maybe that would justify the 37K price tag. Zonk on the gear shifter (we all can't be BMW) Loved the sun roof. I still want a 370Z Touring Thanks for a great review. Shaun of 🗽🗽 Thank you Joe

The nissan key is the perfect shape and size fits in the pocket well!
So true! Not going to hurt the family jewels!
Raiti's Rides lol...
Will it last as long as a ‘94 Toyota Celica?
I Really wish they didn’t use CVT because I like some of their styling. Would it make sense to leave a Nissan vs buy? This way you don’t have to worry about CVT breaking.
That is a very good question.
You are the best car reviewer on TH-cam
I love your reviews I am very happy to see that you review every car from top model to the lower models from midrange cars to very flagship cars . I just want you to review 2020 Camaro Zl1 or SS and the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali XL because I am gonna buy these cars maybe next year or towards the end of this year. There are actually no reviews of 2021 GMC Yukon Denali XL on TH-cam so I want to know about that car and want to know why should I buy it over the 2021 Suburban. Love you Raiti's Rides 💓.
Hey Joe when you doing the new kia k5? I saw another channel do a review and test drive but I'm looking forward to your zonks
Hey Mike! I have to wait for my local dealership to get their hands on one.
Hey joe quick question .. in your honest opinion do you think nissans can become great cars with those cvt engines?? Or are they doom in the car industry?
From what Scotty Kilmer says most other you tubers opinions on their jatco cvts I doubt it
16:39 "SOMEONE USING TURNING SIGNALS" WOW! Take notes ppl. Such a rare sight in America.
Thanks Jordan! I appreciate your support!
The interior is beautiful. I wish Toyota cared about tech
You are so very right Dustin.
I can’t wait for the next Maxima to come out , I think it’ll be a Electric Performance Sedan
Neither can I ! It should be interesting!
They’re going to cheap out and use a handful of Duracell AA’s🤣
Ayyaz Mahmood I think you may be surprised.
Pretty good performance but CVT is a zonk. I like the Accord better. What’s the correct HP? You said 236 and description says 247. Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for having my back Larry! I am on it!
Raiti's Rides No problem, glad to help.
@@LS1007 It's always nice to have an extra set of ears.
Raiti's Rides 👍🏻
I’m considering buying the 2.0 SR Altima .. currently sitting at the dealer for 23k for some pretty nice options.. I’m currently renting the 2.5 SR & I like that they added paddle shifters makes the drive more fun also idk if the other trims have it but there is a sport mode button right on the shift knob (looks like a minus sign) and it does make the car a bit more aggressive for sure
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective on this one.
How much torque steer is there when you floor the turbo? I had a 2013 Altima, and even with just the normally aspirated 4 cylinder, there was considerable torque steer and wheelspin, especially in the wet. Too bad they dont make AWD available with the turbo.
Wouldve loved to hear the audio..I’m assuming it’s Bose
It is Bose.
It’s amazing 🙂
So I bought one of these soon after they came out. I wanted the propilot feature and as much horsepower as I could get. My main disappointment is that on my car I have a 2 second delay upon flooring the accelerator until I get movement (this is from a dead stop). If moving I still have the same delay before I sense any acceleration. This is hazardous from a dead stop. My son was driving us one day, and he caught a brief break in traffic while attempting to turn left across two lanes and the hesitation nearly got us hit. He is used to driving an underpowered small car that does not have that delay. Just my car, or do they all do it?
I am so sorry to hear that Barry! They all do that.
@@RaitisRides What is the reason? Is it just the CVT or something else?
I think it’s tuned that way so you don’t burn out all the way to 30mph. I notice the same thing but it’s designed that way for this engine. My 16’ 2.5 (same Cvt just different simulated shifts) doesn’t have that delay.
Will always be a subscriber. Love the content my guy!
Thank you my friend! I am so glad that you are part of the Raiti's Rides family!
For folks who hate Nissan and their CVTs, why are you here?
LOL
I wonder how reliable is this VC Turbo! I also don't like CVTs but I think the average person won't know the difference unless you are a car enthusiast like me. I see a lot of these on the streets. I rented one last month and I will say the CVT is improved vs the previous generation, I just hope they have improved on its reliability. Me personally I would go Honda Accord 2.0t with manual transmission!
I predict that unless Nissan replaces those c v t transmissions with a traditional transmission or standard , they will not exist by 2030
They are struggling right now.
I used to sell Nissans and I always felt that the CVT felt best with the V6 engines.
Thanks for sharing that Ricky from your experience!
It’s still a CVT...
Nice. Let’s see what Nissan is bringing! The Koreans are bringing their A game. Nissan needs to be doing a great job.
Is that a nope or nice? 🤔😂

Raiti's Rides pressed Enter before I finished typing 😅 Fingers moving faster that a Nissan GT-R!
Hypersonic 👍🏻
@@AbdullahHood 😎
hey joe, it actually does have a sport mode. its just placed on the shifter which is not a good position lol
I have the 2016 Altima right now champ... very good on gas
Are those amber turn lights still incandescent? I don’t recall any mention of that.
Yes they are. Sorry about that.
Im not hating Raiti.. Nissan is my Favorite import. I worked a t a Nissan Dealership back in the late 1980s
As soon as I hear CVT, I'm out. I'd call it more X-lax than X-tronic (whatever that means).
After I've eaten 6 7-Eleven hot dogs (with chili and onions) on a cross-country drive, those seats are going to wish they were ventilated.
Run!
After making a big fart
😂😂😂😂
This car is actually really good. Great review!👍
I am so glad that you like this one.
Great video Joe the 2020 Nissan Altima looks better really good video
Thanks Antonio! I really appreciate that!
Forget the hard numbers Joe.. how many twinkie boxes 📦 can I fit in the Trunk? Love the videos. I am thinking of putting off buying my new car just to keep watching your reviews more frequently.
A few cases for sure! You are the man Jose!
He loves bringing up twinkies 😂
You better believe it!
Love your reviews and references to snacks haha keep them coming!
Nissan will never change the CVT, they will just improve it and it has gotten a lot better, my parents drive a 2012 SL Altima and it has over 200,000 km and still going
Never say never!
If you need the space then your answer is there for you.
Raiti's Rides good point!!!! I keep saying it would be nice to have the extra space but it’s not necessary. Plus I drive everyday to work about 50miles round trip for 5 days. Gas mileage is another consideration.
I had ventilated on since its 110° in the valley...116 this weekend.
That must of felt good!
@@RaitisRides indeed
Joe Raiti, Like always Thank You for posting but I'm happy with my 2020 Avalon.
2020 Kia Optima or Altima which should I buy
Think about the Kia, cheaper, faster, warranty, sx trim looking spicey
Wish it was reliable!!!Went ahead and brought the 2020 Hyundai Sonana Limited last week,1.6T
Good review & great Nissan.
I feel like the Altima looks better than the Maxima in my humble opinion. It’s also not often that I see pockets on the back of both front seats.
Sport mode is on shifter knob on the back
Thanks for that info Korey!
Sucks you can't get the turbo with AWD and if only Nissan would drop the damn CVT it's killing them from a driver engagement and reliability a I know about 10 ppl with Nissan products after 2015 and every single one has had issues with the CVT a a few of them had to get them replaced I miss the pre Renault days love what you do man keep bringing great content what's the chances we'll see 4k car reviews from you
Hi, I wanted to ask between the 2020 kia optima ex and the 2020 nissan altima base, which one has more speed?
Oh god ! Another CVT! What do u say Joe about that CVT do u like it or not?
I hate it!
I think you hit the nail on head!
I think you should review Nissan Silvia S15
I need to track one down.
I'm closing in on your undisclosed locations!
That 2.0T needs to be in the Rogue as well. Why is is in only a single Nissan?
I loke the steering wheel. Unsure about the VC engine, as i dont know much about them, nor the reliability
Great looking car, all they need is reliability to go with.
This is true!
this combo is very good, its used in the Infiniti qx50 and I have heard nothing bad about it
The white Nissan Altima in front of you, which trim was it ??
Please in every new car u should do the sound system as well just for 10 seconds...
Thanks for the feedback!
2020 Nissan Altima Turbo < 2020 Subaru Legacy XT
Nice middle car between maxima and sentra for that middle of nowhere mysterious car review. Wonder how it ranks against a Camry
You are so very right!
I think the Altima does have drive modes.. and I think it also have launch control
This car is beautiful wow.
I’m so glad that you like this one!
Too bad it has a freaking CVT
@@ATH-camChannelwithNoName Honda's have CVT as well so is it that Nissan CVT's are not reliable or all CVT's? I don't really get it.
The sport button is on the shifter
I use to own a 2008 nissan altima but i got lucky because it was manual and not the cvt that everyone else was getting
Nice touch with the 180 MPH speedometer. An Altima will never be able to attain such a speed. Nissan can dream though with this VC Turbo
I know right!
140 ain’t bad
Great shade of red
I totally agree with you!
Thanks Joe,
for an integral perspective on Altima.
I still want a 370Z Touring
Thanks for a great review.

the v6 in my 2011 altima is pretty nice
14:00 Hey Ford, are you listening to this? Sedans are still viable...
