Honestly I give up at this point, he says Dustox is better but he put both it and Beautifly at no.8 and Venomoth at no.7. Sure Dustox may not be viable competitively but its a bug/poison type while Beautifly is bug/flying making it has more weaknesses than Dustox. This list should have been 8.Dustox 7.Beautifly 6.Venomoth and so on but nope he has to stretch it as always with more than 10 Pokémon on this list, whatever man😥.
Exactly!!! Vespiquen is so bulky...it has weaknesses...but at least it could have healed them off and with heavy duty boots it would be great in singles

Hey I really messed up this week and the reasoning behind it is because I've been working on other side projects my research for Venomoth totally slipped over my head. I understand this makes my credibility go out the window and I'm really sorry. I'll make another list and make it a better one. Thanks for feedback guys. @@darianclark3980 Butterfree has gotten quite a few buffs and is extremely powerful as an early Pokemon, And with Compound Eyes it has very good utility.
@@lord_boneman sleep powder + quiver dance is already good but had in the fact that Venomoth has usable special attack and speed (90 each) and tinted lance which makes its dual stab near unresisted and you have yourself a really good pokemon.

This list is so wrong and I'll list the glaring reason why: 1.Venemoth has been banned in RU and has appeared in UU and it's setup with quiver dance makes it good and shouldn't even be on the list 2. Frosmoth should be not on this list or at least number 10 3. ......why isn't Shedinja on this list at all, I might even consider it worse then ledian it's so bad which brings me to my next point 4. Ledian should be number one or 2 5. Dustox is infinitely worse then beautifly and should be in the top 5 and should not be tied (there completely different types)
Also, I don't really agree with him saying "well they aren't in S&S so they don't get the benefit of heavy-duty boots." You can't really compare Gen 8 with previous generations like that. It's apples and oranges, so either take the mons as they are now in Gen 8 (if they don't currently exist, then they can't be counted among the worst), or average out their entire career across all generations. Don't just say that a pokemon is better because it happens to exist in Gen 8 and therefore gets to abuse all the new mechanics to make that claim.

Meaning a Gen 7 Pokémon can use Mega Evolution for example but not Heavy Duty Boots like the Gen 8 Pokémon. That's the reason Beedrill isn't in this list. Even with understanding his logic, it's still stupid in my opinion and he should've judged them by making all Pokémon be on Gen 8 to use as a fair ground, making Heavy Duty Boots be available to bugs and ignored stuff like Mega Evolution.
Shedinja is honestly a gimmick. But it’s not bad. It’s MUCH better than Ledian. Wonder Guard can be able to block out whole teams! Ledian… Ledian just… sucks. A lot.

Look Venomoth being better than all those pokemon isn’t because smogon is flawed it’s because at one point Venomoth was in the same tier as those 2 but in that tier Venomoth was just way too powerful and centralized the tier way to much (something that milotic and Metagross didn’t) so that’s why it was (rightfully) banned from that tier and ended up in an upper tier.

I don’t really agree that Frosmoth is that bad, it’s got some good moves and quiver dance, and is infinitely better than Ledian, Wormadam, and Beautifly.

Parasect had a niche in ubers in the fourth generation with a set up trick room, putting to sleep someone and going after Darkrai with X-Scissor. Ledian had no chance over Parasect 1 on 1

The fact that venomoth the RUBL mon of USUM is on this list is so confusing. Venomoth is arguably one of the best bug type mons and seeing it under Dustox and Vespiquen gives me a headache.
@Seth Williams by your logic why would I use Pinsir if it’s just poor man Heracross, also how can you compare Golisopod and Venomoth the former is a tanky physical attacker who also sets up spikes and the latter is a late game cleaner that uses special attacks. Both pokemon are completely different so how can you say that one’s better than another ?
@Seth Williams Of course use Volcarona, Heracross, Scizor, and Golisopod over it. But for a gen 1 moth it's surprising and amazing for this boi to terrorize the meta. However Pinsir isn't worth using over Venomoth. Just cause Quiver Dance + Compound Eyes + Bug/Poison + Good Special Attack is very potent.
This video is flat out garbage. 1. Venomoth was really good in Gen 7 bc of its abilities and Quiver Dance 2. Frostmoth should been Number 10 bc of it's great Specials(Plus Ability) 3. Butterfree should been Number 7 and NOT Venomoth 4. Ledian Should Been Number 1 For Damn sure bc of it's Awful Stat Distribution and More Wasted Potential than both Venomoth and Frosmoth! I'm not a Volbeat/Illumise stan, but even i can admit that they're better than Ledian. Prankster with Thunder Wave is at least SOMETHING in their toolkit, while Ledian can only win (reliably) by fighting some mons that are in their first stage. Always a great video, just my take :)
@@akilcharles3473 Thank you for asking. :) Admittedly I haven't done battle research to test them, so take this with a grain of salt, but I would say Illumise since it can take better advantage of Tail Glow and some of their shared attacks with the Special Attack stat. It's not a perfect strategy, but it is stronger.

I'm confused as to why you excluded Butterfree and Beedrill from the list. Wait Mega evolution and G-max are the qualities that make it good? Well I can allow the excuse of TM/TR variety being enough of a legit redeeming quality.
I was thinking Beedrill was going to be on the list. I love Beedrill but it's so difficult to use him with out getting knocked out. He's still possibly my favorite Pokémon. I love that he can learn Outrage in lets go Pikachu

Dustox has shield dust as an ability and even with low hp it gets the screens/protect/harden/toxic. It can only really stall but it got good bulk and can sludge bomb fairies so that’s worth something
There he goes again stretching yet another top *10* Pokémon with *12* more on the list. I would agreed on Wormadam because it's one Pokémon with different forms/typing but Dustox and Beautifly should NOT be tied in no.8. Sure it makes sense to put them on the list but as individuals for one is a bug/poison type and the other is a bug/*flying* type. And with Dustox being the ladder better one it should be no.8 Dustox no.7Beautifly no.6 Venomoth and so on but nope rather much focus on its stats and abilities which is fine, but rather fine which is more compatible than the other. But whatever at least my boy Ninjask is not on this list I suppose. Should do flying type next.
I remember when Black and White came out, I discovered Volbeat can be a secret weapon. Tail glow, baton pass, and prankster can make a proper special attacker an instant game ender, with thunder wave and sub to help their survivability. I don't even really care about it as a Pokemon, but it was highly effective at its job. Take away baton pass, and yeah it's garbage on its own. I've similarly seen quite a few Venomoth run around with sleep powder/baton pass/quiver dance.
I am offended that venemoth is here. It has weak stats but due to quiver dance it is great in the lower tiers. It was able to rise to UU and then fell to RU in SM which isn't even that bad. It shouldn't be here.
It’s sad to see Frosmoth 3rd on the list. I think it would have made for a cool antithesis to Volcorona, you know similar but different at the same time both being Bug/Fire and Bug/Ice respectfully.
Thing is that Gamefreak did everything to ruin Frosmoth in comparison to Volcarona, is not just the typing, is the stats aswell as an inferior move set since Volcarona has even a signature move.

Frosmoth would have made a great rival to Volcarona. They could make a lore plot where an extremely powerful Frosmoth caused a continuous snow storm that eventually created a tundra/arctic like ecosystem. When the humans and Pokémon’s reached the end of their rope, Volcarona appeared and shone like the sun melting the snow and pushing the winter away. This would not only create the back story for their rivalry but also take into account Unovas Pokédex entry calling Volcarona savior that replaces the sun in times of need.

Starting to want Mystic to have to make Trick Room teams for in game so he can appreciate slower Pokemon more... I mean, don't get me wrong, most of my preferred Pokemon are a bit faster, but I don't think a Pokemon is bad just because it has lower speed. I think it'd be kinda fun! Maybe at base 60 or less? Tldr: Mystic! Trick Room teams please!
Frosmoth is good but Gamefreak needs to improve it's speed to like base 100 or 110. Along with adding more coverage like scald, earth power, thunderbolt,freeze dry,and sleep powder. Glacierona is still my favorite pokemon from Galar.
I think a male Combee is the worst bug of it’s type. Not only does it have terrible stats across the board, it’s move pool is as shallow as a kiddie pool and you can’t even evolve the thing. If you’re doing a nuzlocke and your encounter is a male Combee, you’re probably keeping that in the pc or just using it as fodder
It totally counts. Wormadam is a separate pokemon from Mothim so if they have gender evolution differences it's considered it's a separate group of pokemon. A male combee is hot garbage that can't take a hit or dish out any damage.
Honestly, I think the worst bug type is pheromosa because it's defenses are 50 each which is horrible, basically any priority super effective hit can take it out
Tbh I don't think not having access to heavy duty boots can be used against pokemons. You should just do these rankings from the same gen, for example you could get all of them in gen 8. But I do agree with the pokemons on the list. I also think you should take mega eveloution and dynamax/gigantimax when finding the best pokemons.
I don't see what redeeming qualities Ledian has to put it above Wormadam, Frosmoth or anyone else really. It's completely useless in battle, and definitely the absolute worst Bug type in my personal opinion.
Sorry Mystic, but these lists are getting worse and worse. As has been pointed out a lot, Venomoth is a pretty good Pokémon, and as always the actual ranking orders are very strange. I think it would help for you to check these lists over with a more confident competitive battler before posting them. It's a really enjoyable series that is losing its appeal because of weird choices.
Also why do you complain about not being able to take hits if follow me and rage powder are a thing. Also can’t you just train your Pokémon with EV’s to take hits?
Because he usually judges them without any trick room or redirecting moves to make it 'fair' even though most people that'd run low tier Pokémon like this would obviously think of a way to make them survive to their best capability.

to be entirely fair towards Kricketune, its stats are good for a middle evolution not a final one, give Kricketune an Evolution and then it would be entirely viable. but seeing how nintendo like to just leave stuff half done these days, I'm not betting a 5 on that ever happening.
Well frostmoth should not be on the list , it can switch in on resistat attacks and set up quiver dance with its ok special defense. Not every Pokemon has fire or rock moves
Yeah. The Ice type desperately deserves some buffs. Like giving it a few resistances, 2 or 3 would do in my opinion. Giving them a defense boost on hail could also make them fairly viable.

Look Venomoth being better than all those pokemon isn’t because smogon is flawed it’s because at one point Venomoth was in the same tier as those 2 but in that tier Venomoth was just way too powerful and centralized the tier way to much (something that milotic and Metagross didn’t) so that’s why it was (rightfully) banned from that tier and ended up in an upper tier.

I'm not a Volbeat/Illumise stan, but even i can admit that they're better than Ledian. Prankster with Thunder Wave is at least SOMETHING in their toolkit, while Ledian can only win (reliably) by fighting some mons that are in their first stage.

@@akilcharles3473 Thank you for asking. :) Admittedly I haven't done battle research to test them, so take this with a grain of salt, but I would say Illumise since it can take better advantage of Tail Glow and some of their shared attacks with the Special Attack stat.
It's not a perfect strategy, but it is stronger.

Dustox has shield dust as an ability and even with low hp it gets the screens/protect/harden/toxic. It can only really stall but it got good bulk and can sludge bomb fairies so that’s worth something

I would agreed on Wormadam because it's one Pokémon with different forms/typing but Dustox and Beautifly should NOT be tied in no.8. Sure it makes sense to put them on the list but as individuals for one is a bug/poison type and the other is a bug/*flying* type. And with Dustox being the ladder better one it should be no.8 Dustox no.7Beautifly no.6 Venomoth and so on but nope rather much focus on its stats and abilities which is fine, but rather fine which is more compatible than the other. But whatever at least my boy Ninjask is not on this list I suppose. Should do flying type next.

I remember when Black and White came out, I discovered Volbeat can be a secret weapon. Tail glow, baton pass, and prankster can make a proper special attacker an instant game ender, with thunder wave and sub to help their survivability. I don't even really care about it as a Pokemon, but it was highly effective at its job. Take away baton pass, and yeah it's garbage on its own. I've similarly seen quite a few Venomoth run around with sleep powder/baton pass/quiver dance.
I am offended that venemoth is here. It has weak stats but due to quiver dance it is great in the lower tiers. It was able to rise to UU and then fell to RU in SM which isn't even that bad. It shouldn't be here.

When the humans and Pokémon’s reached the end of their rope, Volcarona appeared and shone like the sun melting the snow and pushing the winter away.
This would not only create the back story for their rivalry but also take into account Unovas Pokédex entry calling Volcarona savior that replaces the sun in times of need.

I think a male Combee is the worst bug of it’s type. Not only does it have terrible stats across the board, it’s move pool is as shallow as a kiddie pool and you can’t even evolve the thing. If you’re doing a nuzlocke and your encounter is a male Combee, you’re probably keeping that in the pc or just using it as fodder
It totally counts. Wormadam is a separate pokemon from Mothim so if they have gender evolution differences it's considered it's a separate group of pokemon. A male combee is hot garbage that can't take a hit or dish out any damage.

Tbh I don't think not having access to heavy duty boots can be used against pokemons. You should just do these rankings from the same gen, for example you could get all of them in gen 8. But I do agree with the pokemons on the list. I also think you should take mega eveloution and dynamax/gigantimax when finding the best pokemons.
I don't see what redeeming qualities Ledian has to put it above Wormadam, Frosmoth or anyone else really. It's completely useless in battle, and definitely the absolute worst Bug type in my personal opinion.

Sorry Mystic, but these lists are getting worse and worse. As has been pointed out a lot, Venomoth is a pretty good Pokémon, and as always the actual ranking orders are very strange. I think it would help for you to check these lists over with a more confident competitive battler before posting them. It's a really enjoyable series that is losing its appeal because of weird choices.

Yeah. The Ice type desperately deserves some buffs. Like giving it a few resistances, 2 or 3 would do in my opinion. Giving them a defense boost on hail could also make them fairly viable.
