Yes. Weather related abilities are NOT situational, you can control when the right weather is up. Also, Swift Swim and Chlorophyll can make a mediocre Pokemon into a serious metagame threat, just ask Kingdra
Plus, Sawsbuck and Gogoat aren’t completely terrible. Gogoat could learn Surf in X/Y, which was both good coverage and funny. And if Sawsbuck could learn a Rock attack and a Psychic, it could cover all 6 of its weaknesses.
If we want to put VGC in, Maractus actually has huge potential, compared to every other Pokémon on this list. Chlorophyll and Storm drain, Good Support moves, Good special attack with Weatherball and grass stab, a better version of protect and priority is so good. From doubles perspective its far from the top 10 worst, but sadly not in singles.
@@k2basior At least it has Sticky Web and Endeavor (so with a Focus Sash it can cripple any non-Ghost opponent which doesn't have a multi-hit move) and doesn't take 50% on SR. But yeah Kricketune is a very serious competitor for this list of the worst bug.

Meganium needs a signature move like Body Press that deals damage based on defense. Call the move Treefall or something and make it Grass type for STAB. Maybe even cause paralysis or something so Meganium can outspeed the following turn. I mean, getting squashed by a Meganium could definitely slow you down. I don't know. It won't fix everything, but it could help it out at least.
I ran a Natural Gift Sawsbuck in Y and it put in some serious work, outsped and one-shot Diantha's Gardevoir. It'll always have a place in my heart, no matter how weak.

Truthfully, Meganium should've been at least a little bit lower on this list from an objective standpoint; I think that a big part of the reason why the only put it at #10 and was unwilling to put it lower us because he likes it so much

What is the deal with hating on the normal type as a secondary type? It adds one weakness, and one immunity, while also giving a solid neutral stab. Its not a bad type to have.
I don’t think Gogoat is all that bad, it is able to cover for all of it’s weaknesses (except maybe fighting). It can learn Rock slide or Stone edge in order to cover more than half of it’s weaknesses And in XY, It was even able to learn surf so you didn’t have to have a water type with two HM water moves, and it allowed you to get rid of the common fire weakness
Must've been hard with how bad grass is. Which sucks because I love the type, but holy cow their weaknesses and movepool. The only reason grass Pokemon are ever thought of is like, Whimsicott and if they have steel typing to even out the weaknesses. Probably the reason no Elite Four member has dared to try to use it.

17:45 Boy do I have the game for you! There's a romhack of Emerald called Trashlocke Edition by Pokémon Challenges, and the starters are Sunkern, Slugma, and Goldeen. It's actually surprisingly fun, and interestingly enough, Sunkern is actually the best starter, with Slugma coming up second.
I wish Megas would return so Meganium would get one. Heck make it’s base form Grass/Fairy and give it access to a variety of fairy type moves. Heck if you plan on making Meganium dual typed maybe give Typlosion the Ground type and Feraligatr the Dark typing. Heck I also saw a Grass/Fire evolution for Sunflora on reddit. Sunflora could work with a proper evolution.

Tropius was amazing for in-game playthroughs, simply because (in most gens that had them) it could use all four of its moveslots on HM moves. Competitive, definitely not, but it was one 'mon I rushed to catch in any RSE playthrough.

I def have a soft spot for Meganium lol! GameFreak really should have given it Thick Fat or Regenerator as it's Hidden Ability tho! THEN it could have had a possible niche in lower Tiers! But, even as it is now, if Meganium had a Speed stat of 50 or less, it could function much better in VGC at least! It's just a little too fast for TR teams and too slow for ANYTHING else!! Meganium def got the shaft!

Cherrim as a support Pokémon in VGC is actually pretty fun. Cherrim is a Pokémon that pretty much exclusively works in doubles as support for sun teams, but it has a small but legitimate competitive niche outside of restricted metas, which is more than can really be said for the rest of the list. I’m honestly a big fan of Carnivine as someone who likes carnivorous plants irl, but I acknowledge it’s not particularly useful. Maractus is one of those Pokémon with weather based abilities that genuinely seem promising as a support Pokémon right up until you see it’s stats and movepool, which is kind of sad. Tropius was the first Pokémon that tried to push the idea of a grass type using an unconventional berry-based strategy with the ability Harvest or potentially a move like recycle, but GameFreak has since made other Pokémon that pull it off worlds better, even if none of them really succeed at it. (F for my boys Appletun and Alolan Exeggutor.)
This best and worst of every type is great and it would be even more cool to see a series that goes down the middle and highlights some of the most underrated over every type giving spotlight to some of the pokemon that never get used as much but are actually pretty good.
Every list, I find myself disagreeing with at least one selection, and this is no different. Sawsbuck is perfectly fine, if your entire argument boils down to "it can't take a hit from a type it's weak to well enough" pretty much EVERY pokemon can't take hits well against type. Plenty of worse grass types.

Good list, no real complaints. The only thing I'd change is bumping up Wormadam to number 3. Parasect is unquestionably bad, but a bad pokemon with Spore is better than a bad pokemon with Quiver Dance.
Great list. I whould just swich cherrim for simisage. Besides be to much gimmick to use, cherrim ability can be used in especific double battle sunny days teams, while many other fast grass pokémon can do simisage jobs better.

Good list, no real complaints. The only thing I'd change is bumping up Wormadam to number 3. Parasect is unquestionably bad, but a bad pokemon with Spore is better than a bad pokemon with Quiver Dance.
Great list. I whould just swich cherrim for simisage. Besides be to much gimmick to use, cherrim ability can be used in especific double battle sunny days teams, while many other fast grass pokémon can do simisage jobs better.
