Boltund getting Strong Jaw but NOT getting Ice Fang is definitely the product of a higher-up who just hated dogs.

True, but what the hell is he talking about Competitive being bad? It takes any attempt to weaken your stats (or even just passive effects like the very prevalent Intimidate) and punishes the opponent for it by giving you a +2 (not +1, I don't know where he got that from) in what is presumably your main attack stat if you're using this ability. At the very least, even if the opponent is aware of the ability they're stuck deciding if the stat drop is worth your gain or not, so it also acts as a deterrent.

This is why I don't usually watch these lists on this channel. Pokémon like Pachirisu being lower on the list than Pokémon who can at least cause some decent damage isn't exactly logical

You're simply not good .
Piurchin and pachirisu are better than manectric because they simply HAVE A NICHE , people actually have a relatively good reason to use them on a team as a terrain setter for the former and a re director for the latter , while the only thing manectric can do is be a fast sweeper and with those stats its simply outclassed , if you wanted a fast and strong electric type why would you use a manectric instead of for example zapdos or thunderous ? Really , the only niche manectric truly has , is the fact that it has intimidate in its mega form . But that is a problem in itself , since you can only have one mega at a time and why would you waste your mega slot on manectric of all thing just for intimidate

I feel like strong jaw boltund with crunch , thunder fang , psychic fangs ,fire fang is a great pokemon and i personally used it in pokemon sword and it did exceptionally good
Yeah I love Boltund. I'm partial to dog Pokemon, by a wide margin, but Boltund was easily my MVP in Sword. He was such a good boy.

I used him the entire game. I even used him at the final gym.
I used an emolga in my playthrough of Black and it 1 or 2 shot everything with Stab acrobatics even draydens haxorous. It was really reliable

I used one in X and Y and it was incredibly helpful in the sky trainer battles with the ONLY battle it remotely struggled with was Cryoganal. I STILL don't know why Cryoganal was a sky battle.

I agree! It's like saying Manectric is a "meee" pokemon!!! It's my favorite electric type and its mega is good competitively!
@@TheTrueLatios Yeah, Manectric shouldn't have been on this list, let alone in the top 5. It lost quite a bit in gen8, however, with it no longer having hidden power, signal beam, or a mega evolution. It also gets switcheroo to mess with walls, and has for the most part been a good Pokemon competitively, at least in the lower tiers. It also had legitimate higher tier success when it got it's mega evolution, and in spite of this, Luxray did NOT make the list despite having been proven to be objectively bad is just insulting
All the electric physical attackers without an special move are shit, because they don't have a good STAB.

I used in my Hoenn Playthrough it was good
@JustJayYThis only good stats are speed and special attack and if something lives even a single hit it can easily kill it and it doesnt have the best coverage so yeah its not that good
This list is based on competitive, in playthroughs you can use it and make it really useful but in competitive it falls off, its outclassed by alot of better electric types
@JustJayYT yes but that doesnt help its problem, it boosts your speed and if a pokemon survives a hit it will still one hit it and making it choice scarf you can switch to a pokemon resistant to the move it used and its also outclassed by faster, stronger pokemon choice scarf doesnt fix its problem
Take note that Mystic didnt mention Manetric's mega evoution. It would have been viable in competition "before", but now not so much.

Strong jaw
Jolly nature
Choice band
Max attack, max speed
Volt switch
Thunder fang
Psychic fangs
Crunch
Pretty underrated imo
You know what dual typing I find the weirdest? The normal-fighting type. I mean, either you are normal, or you are fighting, not both.
It is a nice coverage type combo to have on teams in the earlier games, because a normal/flying type can take out fighting types like normal, but also has a immunity to ghost. This allows you to have a Pokémon that can is immune to powerful ghost attacks and swap to your normal/flying type in a pickle, and also have a Pokémon for fly.
I had no issues with my boltund. Caught a Yamper and had it with me the whole game. It was so speedy it rarely took hits and if it was faced with a ground type I just let my noivern cover it.

I would actually make a case for boltund being good. Life orb strong jaw makes it hit pretty hard and has good versatility with the elemental fang moves. Also it’s speed is great to our speed making it a pretty good clean up mon in competitive

Physical electric pokemon without signature move are really underpowered.
Exactly, there needs to be a couple more physical electric attacks. One idea is to not make volt tackle exclusive to the Pikachu line. Imagine Manectric or Luxray with volt tackle.

Oh man I nearly cry a tear to see my Oricorio in this list. I like it's design and typing, oh well I guess I should be happy that my boy Jolteon is not on this list. You should do Normal types next.
With any luck Oricorio will get some sort of buff. I think what was the biggest factor in its ranking is the move set with literally only one move that hits as electric type. I think Oricorio should be able to learn other moves based on all four of its forms regardless of what form it itself is: so flamethrower, psychic, shadowball, and thunderbolt should be moves any oricorio can learn. THAT would shake up this list while making all Oricorio forms a threat to contend with
Gamefreak needs to switch Dedenne's physical and special attack stats to actually make it viable

@@jeffhirsh5722 Not really, for physichal it has play rough u turn wild charge, for special it has thunderbolt dazzling gleam grass knot volt switch. I think if it just had better defensive stats it could use its cheek pouch ability to its advantage on stall or smth

Boltund is definitely a prime example of why a mixed attacker isn’t great. Sure, there ARE mixed attackers that are superb and amazing, but mixed attackers need more than just offense to be good, and Boltund is a textbook example of why a mixed attacker can not live up to the concept it’s made out to be.
I feel like a lot of the bases for what makes a bad pokemon for you are centered around offensive presence, but you don't take into account that not every mon is built for offense. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it can make the evaluations feel less well rounded at times

Luxray should be on this list... It has the same issues as Zebstrika, it just has a pretty good ability that still isn't enough to make it useable
Manectric is better than all of these other mons other than maybe pincurchin, it's got a decent spatk and speed, electric immunity with lightning rod, volt switch, and trick for a good scarf set, which honestly makes it better than this entire list

I love slow tanks and stallers, especially in VGC. Therefore, when classifying glass cannons as bad, I get it. But will Weavile be top 10 worst dark or ice types even in stark contrast to its usage?
Funny thing is that Weavile is in his top 10 strongest ice types list despite it also being a glass cannon like many Pokémon on this one

Cuz Psychic was OVER 9000 is Gen 1

- Overheat is special
- Low kick is so weak that unresisted wild charge will deal more damage than super effective low kick (except in case of 4x weakness)
- Bounce is super predictable
Besides none of these moves are useful against ground types.
With Boltund it's underestimated as my Boltund Bolt has gotten me out of tight spots

I agree, Manectric is not a bad Pokemon. At the very least, it's not bad enough to be on this list, especially not in the top 5

Before gen4, all moves were either physical or special depending on their type, and it just so happens that dark moves were special, which in hindsight, is weird, since I think that all of them became physical from gen4 onwards (the ones that were present before then, anyways)
@@matthewkuscienko4616 just saying that this odd quirk of design (they wanted to keep the balance of Special to Physical type when adding Steel and Dark and, instead of making Ghost Special, they made Dark Special) Manectric is actually weaker. I don't think it has access to Dark Pulse? And with Fire Fang also becoming physical...
@@Undrave I actually cannot think of any electric types that learn dark pulse off the top of my head. But overall, gen8 really did a lot to take things away from Manectric that it had previously had access to, with the most notable being not being able to mega evolve anymore. Also, while yes, it does learn fire fang (most Pokemon that are able to learn biting moves can), it also has access to flamethrower and overheat (all 3 of which it has been able to learn since gen4)

I think you've been a bit harsh on Manectric and Zebatrika. They are better than most of the Pikachu Clones. Though, I guess a list that was just all of the clones in a row would be a bit boring.
Boltund with electric terrain and thunder fang can really give some great damage

i was so disapointed with Boltund, i boxed him in favour of Joltik which when evolved into Galvantula, became my go to pokemon for electric AND bug type attacks, i didnt think he would be that good but found him to be quite the nasty pokemon.
I’m hoping you at least tried out some TMs and TRs with Boltund as that’s where most of its better moves are.

Galvantula for example does more damage and has some useful utility too, plus bug type coverage.

Mystic only likes OP sweepers with tons of coverage. His best teams are all about coverage and barely uses set-up moves unless absolute last resort. Curse/Recover/Zing Zap/Liquidation is a perfectly fine moveset for Pincurchin.
@@Undrave understandable I mean coverage is always nice to have on Pokémon but sometimes even tho they have plenty of coverage and can hit hard some people write those Pokémon off for having crap defenses That feels like saying ash greninja is complete trash cuz it can’t live a hit now that opinion would be hated like crazy not hating on this video but I see a bit of a trend here I’m starting to bet that next list or something would be hammering Pokémon with worse hp or are supposed to be tanks
@@racerlord2329 Rock is gonna be another one, cause much like Grass it has 5 weaknesses, but unlike Grass, it's best STABs are Stone Edge and Rock Slide both of which can miss, and special Rock STABs are non-existent (unless you're Nihilego, and to an lesser extent Lunatone)
also, many of them are so slow and have awful defensive typings that result in lots of weaknesses (and maybe a 4x one or two) as well, and they lack recovery too (which not even that would be enough to save it).
If there's two types you almost don't wanna be paired with, it's Rock and Ice, especially when it's those two types together. Hell not even Steel can save either of these two types.
