I once restored 50 chairs. It was not fun.
7 was already too much. I can’t imagine doing 50!

I would not pay attention to comments on a subject that you are more knowledgeable on, your work is always first class, the furniture you chose is always an intelligent choice. Your work is that of a perfectionist.
Well said. I'll also add that I'll never understand those people who want to discard things just because they are not of the highest quality, that to me seems incredibly wasteful. If the end result of a restoration or repair is a functional and even nice looking item then I'd say that the time spent on it is well worth it. Plus of course the person working on it has the satisfaction of a job well done.
@@SlartiMarvinbartfast You should see Cole the Cornstar's "restoration" of his gg grandfather's home. He totally gutted the house, as well as a large percentage of his followers.
@@teret6719Cole is a cornhole who ruined anything good. Them folk are too isolated and slow to stay abreast of what their followers appreciate. Cornfed should not bother with filming because he's not in fooling anyone.
It looks beautiful. Everything you do is top notch. I wanted to tell you, I recently stripped and "restored" an antique oak quartersawn mantle. It was pretty beat up. I am that person who thinks they can do anything and everything. My skill-set is want, determination and what I've seen on TH-cam, particularly on your channel. I am also a 67 year old woman. We had two antique mantles but one got completely blown to bits in a F4 tornado. I recovered the bits and pieces. So, I took veneer from the blown up mantle and replaced a HUGE area on the beat up mantle where the veneer had been obilerated. I have to say, even my very discerning husband said, the repair looks great. And I owe it all to you. Without watching your videos, I'd never have even attempted such a repair. Just wanted you to know. Thanks!
I appreciate someone who will take the time to save these old American classics for the next generation.
That dining set turned out great. During the reveal it dawned on me how proud the original owners probably were when they brought that set into their home. Even though it had some dings and dents, it appears whoever had it definitely took care of it and was proud to own it.
Thanks for giving it a new life for someone else, even if it's you, to enjoy.
Thank you!
Amazing work as always! I’ve been putting off doing our dining set with all the chairs, lol. Love tables, hate chairs. Fantastic job on this big set!
Thank you, Angie! I really appreciate it.
You all are killing it!
This is a beautiful set. It's not often you get sets in the Mid-Century era furniture. Thanks for getting her ready for another 50 plus years.
The fact that you do your restorations in the middle of Minnesota winters makes your work so much more challenging. What a beautiful table and chairs. Restoring chairs is a lot of hard work and you did a fantastic job on them. I love your videos.
This video doesn’t do justice to the amount of time it takes to restore a whole dining set. You did a beautiful job and as someone who has been watching you since your beginning, I’ve noticed improvements to your craft and skills. You’re doing a fine job and I’m still very much enjoying your videos. Thank you for sharing this with other enthusiasts and teaching people to restore and not repaint.
One reason i love Your channel is exactly that You show that even most modern furniture can be rescued, regardelss of the material.
I have zero unsolicited advice to give and only wanted to say that I love watching your videos.
Thank you!
Beautiful set. As always, enjoyed video. You have a gift of doing just the right process to have great results.
Thank you!
I'm so sorry Steven, I actually watched your amazing video on Sunday. But I guess because of the confusion that day, I thought I was commenting on your video. I think you did the most work in the challenge 😁 The table and chairs look amazing, congratulations. Also, it's a pleasure to have you in the challenge 🙏
🧡
Thank you, Ismail. It was wonderful having you in the challenge as well. I look forward to watching more of your videos!
Living now in a condominium myself, I no longer have a workshop or even a workbench, so your channel and other similar craftsmen, passes on the enjoyment of seeing woodworking projects coming back to life in today's throw away society. Your ambitious restoration of that dining-room suite will now be the scene of many dinner parties. Many congratulations.
Just beautiful. Another magnificent piece saved for enjoyment and usefulness for 60 more years.
This was a ton of work and it turned out so, so well. Good getting to know you in the challenge! See you in the next one. Cheers 🥃
Yours is my favorite restoration, and perhaps overall favorite, YT channel, and Brasilia one of my favorite MCM lines. I’m so glad this set found its way to you. It’s stunning again. Bravo!
Well done! I would gladly have that set in my home. Not sure what the naysayers are thinking - too much waste in this world!
Now you have to look out for that eighth chair! Great job as always, especially with those fiddly chairs. Cheers, Angela from Australia.
That would have been the perfect piece for when I was growing up. There were 8 of us and during the holidays no telling how many people would come for dinner. Beautiful restoration.
Your very brave working outside in the Minnesota winter. Beautiful job as usual.❤
My grandparents had that table and chair set from 1965 until it sold at auction in the 1990s (they sold most of everything and moved into a very large RV and hit the road). That table was a BEAST!!!! Many fantastic family dinners around it.
Anybody who thinks pressed wood is inferior doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Most Mid Century furniture from the early 60’s onwards was made this way: veneered particle board with solid wood clashing and features - drawer pulls and legs etc.
It’s a technology that allowed this type of furniture to be produced economically, at scale, and with consistent quality. Sure, it has its drawbacks, but so does solid wood.
Go take a look at the top dollar designer cabinets from this era, credenzas and dressers etc - a significant majority of them are made with pressed wood panels and are still going strong! 😎
Nicely done. A great example of when Broyhill made better quality furniture.
a beautiful table.. definitely a party item with all the lovely chairs
I remember my parents having a smaller table similar to this with particle board when I was a kid. That thing was stone solid. It was also a beautiful dining set. I sometimes think people get upset about particle board because of all the cheap wal mart stuff today that easily breaks and that's the first thing that comes to their mind when they see Mid-Century Furniture with particle board. I think the glues and how they were made ( the particle board that is) was made differently in those days and the particle board was often much stronger and better quality.
Nicely done. I like the way you explain what you're doing without going on and on about it. Your work is beautifully done. Much better than what I often run across on TH-cam. I'll be back. Thanks.
Great improvement but best of all is the kitty still likes it!
What a beautiful result, Steve. My parents gave me their Broyhill Saga dining room set from 1963, when I got my first house 27 years ago. My wife hated the dining table and chairs and made me get rid of them, but I still have the hutch and buffet. It was a huge mistake to get rid of the table and chairs.
Women! All I can say! I am one of them 😂!
Fabulous! I have a client who has that exact same table and chairs with leaves. That is from the Broyhill’s Brazilian group. She also has the co-ordinating breakfront. Her set is in mint condition. There was a bedroom group from that collection too. When I worked at Macy’s, years ago, as their home furnishing co-ordinator, that was a very popular group that sold. I always displayed it as the front vignette, as you entered the furniture. floor. You did a fabulous job restoring it. Kudos to you. Carol from California
WoW! You did it proud!! Looks beautiful too! You got some new skills and they are paying off big time! Love it!!
Hugh undertaking, but it's beautiful. A professional job.
I am amazed at your patience! All those chairs! It is a beautiful set and you did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing!
I love the Brazilia set of furniture. It’s lovely! Wish I had a whole houseful.
That is jaw-droppingly great work! Multiple small decisions about small imperfections really jazzed up this set of table and chairs. Your work never disappoints. Thank you for this restoration, and cheers from Oklahoma!!!
Super good. Thank you for letting us watch.
Among your best so far. Really wonderful results. I really like the fact that you're "personalizing" the vids by appearing directly and adding humor. Well done. I think more of that will increase your subscriptions. A before/after view and summary at the end would help as well. Lastly, giving practical tips and mentioning specific products will provide us wanna-be restorers a lot of value.

I’ve been working my way through the MCM Challenge videos and saved yours for last- a little treat for myself. It did not disappoint!
A new life to a wonderful dining set that will hear so many more stories at supper time. Well done !!
I remember when my parents had a table like that in our dining room (which we used twice a year) cause they had 8 kids. But that restore you just did was to perfection, great work. I really enjoyed it. thank you 😊
WOW ... I remember coveting those things in the 1960s magazine ads.
I recently inherited this same dining table from my parents. I showed my dad the refinish you did of one you had found on the roadside. He was so thrilled by it (and then a big fan of your channel)
Coffee Cup is awesome!!........And great job as always on the table and chairs!
That is some awesome dresser! I sure wish you and some of the others were close by your skills are just amazing! That is such a beautiful dresser! I hope you have someone in your family who follows in your footsteps. I inherited my father’s tools and have no idea how to use them. You are truly so talented and did such a beautiful job! ❤️❤️👏👏👏❤❤
Excellent Work ! You should get on E Bay RIGHT NOW, and pick up another
side chair. With two captain's chairs and eight side chairs, you will have
a complete set.
The chatoyance (sp?) on that top veneer is lovely! Great job!
Beautiful job! Anyone would be fortunate to have this.😊
You weren't specific about where did you "find" it. Was it a good day for thrifting in Minnesota? I love it when you say that. 😊
What about the upholstery? Did you do it?
If I had the room and the money I would buy it in a heartbeat. I love those long tables.
Another stunning piece of work. A pleasure to watch. 🤩
I love your videos. They are informative and easy to follow. I wince every time your videos are in cold weather. Please rent a garage, basement or something.
Charing is caring! Great video 💪🏻
Thank you!
Regarding particle board in furniture, Angie over at Transcend Furniture has pointed out that it’s more stable than solid wood and won’t warp over time in climates with a lot of temperature and humidity changes.
You did a beautiful job restoring this set to its original condition. I would be proud to own such dining furniture. ❤
Excellent job! Very meticulous and restored beautifully. Well Done! And Good Luck in the challenge!
Stunning. Beautiful work as always.
Beautiful work. It looks showroom new.
Thank you!
Stunning 🤩 Watching these fantastic transformations is definitely changing my view of MCM furniture.
Great job on the restoration. I have this same table and chairs, and the Brasilia china cabinet. Family and friends love the set. Also a good way to remove the veneer is the steaming function of the iron. Works for me.
Oh leave the inlay alone! Beautiful work!
Bravo. Amazing as always.
You said just be patient when fixing veneer. Well you had the patience with all those chairs. 🎉 Nice work.
Lovely job. I hope you find a good home for it all and they love it as much as we all do. ❤
This has to be my favourite. Great job. I love the detail along the bottom ❤
I'm here from FLIPPING DRAWERS and MAYFIELD RESTORATIONS and I'm working my way though the MCM videos (I'm not a furniture restorer. I just enjoy these types of videos). You did a lovely job on these pieces. They didn't appear to need much work done to them, just a few repairs and clean and shine. Would there have originally been 8 chairs with this piece of furniture as it seems odd there are 7. Great video.
Your restorations always amaze me. I also appreciate your teaching and explaining why you do things a certain way. My favorite MCM challenge video. All were great, but your restorations are a different level. Thank You, as always!
That was a lot of work! It turned out very beautiful.
A delight to watch, as always. Since I started watching your channel, I find myself looking at my solid cherry dining table we bought 30 years ago, and wondering if I should rectify the various scratches, crayon marks, etc. it has accumulated over the years. But I just think, as most of the previous owners of your pieces thought, "Nah, that's family history there. I remember when that one happened." And I smile. Perhaps I'll give you a call when I'm ready to move it on. At least I understand a little better now how to make it ready for its next lifetime. :)
Wow, that is a huge table! It turned out great as all your restorations do.
Thank you.
Wow, beautiful dining set, you restored it perfectly, thank you for keeping these pieces alive for the next generation of it's life....Take care...cheers !!! 🍁 🍁
By far the best of the ones I have watched
Incredibly beautiful set. You brought it back to stunning!
Same chair with bright new look ❤
Really nice job of bringing this back to it's former glory. I like your attention to detail too. 😁
Very nice. Would have liked to see how you reupholstered the chairs.
Great job, dude. Keep it up. You're a true restoration guru.
Very nice. The lines of those chairs is lovely. Thank you for your work!
I love the Rush 2112 mug! Great job
Great video. I watched the Figure One robot demo video and it was driving me crazy where I’d heard the voice before until I realized it sounds like you. Especially the pace of speech and pauses.
Another great restoration 👏👏👍 I'm with you on the partical board question in mid-century pieces. Well done
Great reflexes catching thay chairback at the beginning. Impressed
WOW! I had the same set that I bought at a garage sale and then sold on marketplace a few years after, so I thought maybe you were redoing the same set that I had at one time because I also sold mine with seven chairs. However, I had no leaves for my table. This refinish turned out amazing! Great job!!
Thank you!
Stunning!! Please leave as is-fabulous restoration!
Very nice! You really changed that chair into something great. Great job. ❤
Very nice work, gorgeous dining table and chairs set
I f**ing love this dinner set! Beautiful!!!
This is a great video. I found you through the MCM challenge, and you have a new subscriber.
Furniture restoration videos are one of my guilty pleasures. I’ve never tried to do it, but I love the videos.
That turned out beautifully!
Steven this job must have taken a long time, wow. you did an incredible job, best wishes for the mcm challenge
Yes, a loooong time. Thanks for watching!
Lovely work. I appreciate how meticulous you are. Well done
Just beautiful… it seems you don’t mind the tedium of 7 wobbly chairs with all their joints, which is so cool! (I kinda love that part😉) Great work!
💙from Colorado
A beautiful table and chairs! Once again, a fantastic job! Thanks for the video!
WoW, that is beautiful! What a ton of work!
We had 4 more chairs than that and not all of them matched. Ours was a much older style but dinning room tables used to be 'the place' for families. I completely understand the amount of work you did. It's all about the chairs. I hope there's a family to fill those seats too. We need more of that. Too much fun to miss. Outstanding work. :)
A big detailed job for sure. Perfectly done.
You guys doing this challenge are amazing, every one a masterpiece! I have been so inspired by your collective work that I uploaded my first ever video this week!!
Thanks for watching! I'll check out your video.

You have endless patience and an eye for detail. Turned out looking so elegant. Will you keep for your own home? Greetings from Scotland.
Yikes …your patient diligence, concentration, and expertise are jaw dropping ~ these pieces will live on with their true beauty, inspiring forms, and the respect they deserve from every eye that sees. Congrats on being with all the other furniture restorers of this caliber. I can only aspire to such greatness.
Oooooo yes! I've so been looking forward to this one!!!
