This is as truly a star-studded lineup as one will ever get to see in a television episode: Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Ann Miller, Della Reese, Cab Calloway and Van Johnson. My god!
You have to give Ann Miller lots of credit for her dancing performance here. This is 30 years after the film of "Kiss Me Kate" at MGM. She is dancing on tables and moving pretty well.
MrImiller07 Pretty well? Man...after seeing a 112 year-old Arthur Duncan dancing in that Tap movie, I feel like the only people who should be trusted to tap are elderly people! I'll tell you who I worry about: Carol Channing! I thought she was having a stroke until I did some searching and realized that's just how she sings.
Thank you ever so much for posting "The Love Boat" episodes. I loved the show on Saturday nights until they canceled it. Ann Miller, Della Reese, Carol Channing, and Ethel Merman are timeless and impeccable.
Good grief it's nice to see everybody but Ann Miller. Is still a force and a star to be reckoned with🎉 she was tapping right off into the sunset. Glorious
This wasn’t like anything in the 80s. Someone wanted to give the aging divas another chance to show off their stuff and it was pretty unique. As was Love Boat.
So after college I went to work aboard a cruise ship as an assistant cruise director. The number of people who called me Julie was shocking, given that the Love Boat was off the air by the time I was born! Frankly, I wish it was on Nick at Night so I could see it!
Chattymagpie1210, the songs are You're The Cream In My Coffee/Button Up Your Overcoat they are from the DeSylva, Brown and Henderson musical GOOD NEWS.
What was classic about television in the 70's and 80's was that stars of the past had a place to go and do what they did best versus today where stars of the past go on celebrity reality tv shows to lose wieght or enter rehab and be disgraced instead of revered...Imagine Ethel, Ann, and Della on Celebrity Fit Club...a shame
This also makes me recall a Season 4 episode where, in the same sequence, young Jill Whelan is given the privilege of dancing with Ginger Rogers and being taken off scene arm in arm with Douglas Fairbanks Jr..
I got to watch the whole episode (can't remember where right now) and he was in the whole thing. He was romancing Della Reese's character in this ep. "- )
LOUSY?? What planet are you on?? Better yet, what are you "on" period?? Like to see you or any of these so called dancers of today do these steps. With the exception of Savion Glover there are no more dancers. It's just synchronized pole dancing.

Once again a FANTASTIC display of REAL TALENT. Who needs Madonna?
🎉

Beyond fabulous!!!!! ANN MILLER.. they don't make 'em like her anymore!
Thank god for the internet...but I long for the days of no internet, mobile phones....those days made TV like this.
PURE GOLD. can anyone DO this anymore? and if so, WHO? I almost had a coronary from joy!
The best episode of The Love Boat day ever made you know you would never see this many stars on One show today
You Make Me Feel So Young - first time ever hearing this song... classic!
Talent and class act !
Que lindos recuerdos de esta serie.

I love this Medley. Thank you for posting it.
Channing's wordrobe is mind-blowing!
I was frightened for Ann Miller's safety at 1:04. That flaming kabob should NOT be anywhere near all that hairspray.
The weird early 1980's!!!
What an odd and wonderful time!!!

ROFL!!! I watched Loveboat and Battlestar Calactica when i was a kid! LOVE THESE!!!
Ethel Merman is AMAZING!

When Ann Miller is doing her dance. Check out the woman in yellow sitting down behind her moving back and forth even when there's no music lol

I believe that 'You're The Cream in My Coffee' was from the musical 'Hold Everything'.
RIP DELLA REESE(1931-2017),,Now only Carol Channing(1921) is still alivd
Oops!
*sigh If only...

Oh how I longed for this to have dear Judy in it...and Ann-Margret.
I almost died laughing when the waiter offered Ann M. that flaming k-bob of meat! That was so campy and eye rollingly phallic!
Indeed indeed :)
OMG!! Wasn't that Cab Calloway in the shots at 3:36 & 5:58?
Yes.
What season is this? I don't remember seeing this one
i feel same:D
What's the name of the song that Carol sings?
is it 1982?
I remember the show, but it was only short lived. Have you recalled the name of it? I thought it was a good show at the time.
wonderful!! marvelous!!!encore!!!love it love it!!!Too bad Ann Miller was a lousy dancer!!!lol!!!!
So you didn't?? Now whose eyes suck?
I got to watch the whole episode (can't remember where right now) and he was in the whole thing. He was romancing Della Reese's character in this ep. "- )
I've always wondered who was a better singer-- Della Reese or Pearl Bailey. By the way, isn't Della Reese still alive?
She passed away, last year.
couldn't break it with an eight lb. hammer! lol
I haven't seen that many gay waiters since....I ate out in NYC...

Don't be so vulgar, sweetie!!!
