You know, Chris, I have to admit, as a giant car geek, it is refreshing to watch a review from someone who isn't an enthusiast. It's interesting to see a review from a different perspective.

I understand you are not a car person, but this is one of the most efficient regular-gas-mid-size sedans in the market, you might not realize it since you are used to hybrids and compacts, but once you compare it to other mid size cars (accord, passat, camry, optima, etc..) then you will appreciate the amazing mazda's skyactiv gas efficiency, other than that, great review

Chris, I love this car review! The format is clean, offering a refreshing take from other reviews of cars. The inserted cut scenes during the stationary in-car review are visually helpful of the info you're relaying at that point in the video. I especially like this review because I didn't know just how "teched out" Mazda had become - this coming from someone whose girlfriend drives a Mazda! The honest review begets honest responses and in kind, kind feedback. Thank you for your efforts, I Like this and every energy you give to the community. On to the next! Side note: call me crazy but my interpretation of the end music sounds like a great variation of an 80s song by a then-popular rock group. :-)

I bought this car a week after it came out and it feels really good that I was the first one to buy it. I haven't seen a 2016 model yet in the freeway or streets. The only Mazda i really like is the rx7 but this car just change my perspective of what Mazda is really about. I'm just waiting for hypertech tuner to come out. I'm already looking to get magnaflow cat back exhaust, and a typhoon intake to put some serious torque numbers with such little money spend. I read here on the comments that people like this car but won't buy it cause of the v6 it doesn't have. This car don't need a v6 it needs three things I just said above and there is no way you would want a v6 after the upgrades.

Thanks for a great review...previously leased a 2010 Mazda6 and stepped up to a 2014 Mazda6/GT and love it even more...agree about the MPG. They've made some nice improvements in the 2016. My lease is up next summer and I think I'll go with the CX-5 which is the crossover version of this vehicle...good job.

Thank You for a very informative & in-depth review!! I have been driving a Mazda 3i that I bought from my daughter 2 years ago- it's a 2008 model & honestly I haven't had a new car in a long time but I had taken mine to the car dealership to fix a couple of recalls, so they gave me a loaner- it's a 2016 Mazda 3 & I must say, I was throughly impressed - I know you were reviewing the Mazda 6, not the 3, but many of the features are the same & after driving it for a few days, I am seriously considering trading mine in & actually moving up in the world with a new car- Ha!! My daughter keeps saying I need to check out the Mazda 6 before I make up my mind but I live alone & rarely have passengers so I don't see a reason why I should pay more just for a larger car if the compact one has everything I need &/or want. I def agree with you r/e the comment you made about the radar feature- when you said once you drive with it, you can't live without it or something to that effect. I followed some friends of mine on a drive (about an hour) to dinner- they were on their motorcycles & they always take the backroads - I tried out the radar feature on the cruise control & man, what a difference it was not to have to keep adjusting my speed - I just let the car do it for me!! It was Awesome!! Also, I realized on the way home that the lights (besides being LED) actually followed the road as I turned or went around corners- what a great safety feature!! The more I drove it, the more I kept saying & feeling like Who thought of all this stuff??!! What a difference the features made!! Anyway, sorry this is so long, just wanted to say Thank-You mainly!! LOL

Get your hands on a 2015 Honda Fit EX! I'm between this and the Fit. The Honda is definitely within my budget but the Mazda's classiness and overall better build quality is so tempting.

Thanks Chris... well done. It is good to get reviews from a "Non Car-guy", because we (the general car-buying public), are just that. We want to know, what we get...what we really need...and what we can do without. I've owned Mazda cars... and my experience with them was not the best, for the following reasons: Underpowered...as in weak engines for the car. This car, I believe has a 2.5 Liter engine...and based on my research it takes 8 seconds; to go from 0 to 60 MPH. With 4 adults in the car... probably longer. Mazda... put a more powerful engine, at least a 3.0 liter. Also... Mazdas are known for water leaking into their foglights... CD players that skip... and other "gremlins" that detract from the beauty of their cars. In short...lease..don't buy, based on my ownership experience.

Pretty good review. In Saudi Arabia Mazda 6 is way cheapper than the US. The standard option is for about $18k, and the full option, the top one,is for about $26k. I have already booked one, and I am gonna have it this week. BTW I really like the color you have, unfortunately, I chose it as my second choice after the pearly white. The reason is because the city I am living in is quite a bit desert, so I don't wanna bother myself cleaning the dust.

  • @Sky1
    @Sky1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

I am trading in my Hemi Challenger R/T 6 speed for this car. I too am tired of shifting, tired of loud engine rumble, tired of people staring at my car, tired of $50 paid each time I stop at the pump, tired of the jerky ride, tired of all those close misses since I cannot see anything when backing up. It was fun for a number of years but now I just want a nice family sedan.
My wife has a CX5 and it is awesome, do not care so much for the sound system or the GPS but it is light on its toes and although it doesn't have a lot of HP, it seems to be a joy to drive. The 2016 Mazda 6 was like that but a bit more sporty and comfy for my daily commute. Now I can pass cops without them staring at me waiting for me to do something wrong.

One thing you might think about doing Chris, is record with the camera on the dash while you are going down the road to test how quiet the car is, wind noise, road noise etc.. when you do a review. Other than that I don't really think there needs to be anything else added to your reviews.

Won't get the good gas mileage until you get at least 3000 miles and have the AC turned off. I get 38 MPG driving to work in the morning. On avg abt 30 MPG.
Also, my fav feature is the rear cross lane traffic alert. You can back out of a parking spot between two SUV's and be alerted to pedestrians and oncoming traffic before you can even see them

The gimmicky tech features like HUD and lane assist are not really optimized according to TFL Car and Everyman Driver. So I wouldn't buy the 2016 Mazda 6.
Also the cheap, tacky interior plastics really look odd in the 2016 Mazda 6.
And where are the options for turbo and AWD?
This is why Mazda only has 2% market share in the US auto market.

      Motorenwerke.de Mazda's market share fell from 6% to 2% within a decade.
It's one of the least reliable car brands you can buy.

Motorenwerke.de The biggest disappointment is that Mazda still hasn't solved the rusting problems with its painting finishes. And also the easily breaking sunglass holders and faulty power windows... these are all problems that are still found in the recent Mazda models.
Mazda cheaped out with their interiors again.

Go check out the 2015 JD Power Vehicle Quality study. Mazda, Fiat and Subaru make the lowest quality and most unreliable cars in the industry.
And the biggest disappointments with the 2016 Mazda 6:
    - Poor fuel economy. Everyman Driver and TFL Car only got 26MPG out of this car. That's below average for this segment.
    - Underpowered engine.
    - No AWD powertrain option.
This is why Mazda is ranked only 10th in the US.

MilanoFootball Mazda is the worst when it comes to premature rusting problems. Their paint finish quality is the worst out of all automakers.

Stefan Schmidt Mazda is making low quality and unreliable cars recently. Don't know why they're adding all the gimmicky tech when they can't even figure out their poor fuel economy and transmission problems.

Shirazi All these reliability problems from Mazda isn't surprising. Mazda is a tiny automaker, about a third of the size of Kia Motors.
Mazda will continue to make unreliable trash due to their small size.

MilanoFootball Don't refer to a study without bothering to read it. The worst three (according to YOUR source) are Fiat, Land Rover, and Jeep. Mazda was ranked in this study ahead of Hyundai, Volkswagen, Volvo, BMW, Kia, and Infiniti.
And this thread is suspiciously similar to ones that appear on all Mazda reviews: someone points to the JD Power study, and then three other people (on the same day) chime in with the ridiculous paint quality accusation, something about gimmicky tech, and another about the small company size. Obviously you are shilling something.
Mad because the new Mazda 6 interior embarrasses the cheap painted plastic buttons of your Korean cars?

We just got one and it is nowhere near 50K. The Grand Touring has everything you need and its MSRP is $33K. We paid $29K for our Mazda 6 GT. Even if we were to add the iEloop package, it would have been $2-$3K more.

I live in florida. I did a search in their inventory. The have a pdf of all the features and packages and optionals you can get for the car minus the sun roof and home link rear view mirror. The pricing was reaching a little over 40k not including dealer fees, destination fees, or if your are financing the interest rates and stuff. Some of the stuff he listed like the heated seat or memory seating was not even listed in that pdf file. So to truly Have everything is why I said 50k. I don't know what state you live in but I think that may be a factor as well. Nothing is cheap in florida if you want quality T.T *sniff*

I would love to see this "pdf" of which you speak. The Grand Touring *with* the Tech Package comes nowhere near $40K MSRP. Whomever is selling it for that amount is a con artist. I priced this vehicle in West Palm Beach for my in-laws. $30K plus tax, title, and reg. Unless your taxes are $10K, again, this vehicle doesn't come close to $40K.
