Don't forget they wasn't just one atmospheric processor on LV426 ( about 80 where scattered around the surface). There is a chance that a second colony could've been built later on where the moon could have had a fully terraformed atmosphere.

Part of the power plant's self-destruct system also involved lightning strike arcs and fireball explosions. You also hear the voiceover say "Attention! Emergency! All personal must evacuate immediately! You now have X minutes to reach minimum-safe distance!" You know that giant explosion would be coming in just minutes...... The explosions were similar to what happened at the end of "The Man With The Golden Gun" when that nuclear reactor blew up there due to absolute zero imbalances in temperature.

I was always confused when Ash was explaining the composition of LV426 when he said “the planet had deep coal” surely this must mean that the planet must have had plants and organic material made of carbon to have created coal/oil and by extension some form of plate tectonics not to mention water much like earth. First, the ship crashed there. There's no evidence that the engineers were using it as base. As far as WY picking up the transmission, and decrypting it, there's nothing to suggest it was directed to earth.

Almost 2 percent the distance of a Light Year....
The power station there had a nuclear reactor core that can be one big extremely giant ticking time bomb if damaged. And it did get damaged. A dropship crashed into the reactor's power systems, and Bishop realized when that happened, it set off a sneaky "self-destruct system" (which lasted an hour down to T-minus 0 or so) that would vaporize everything in and around the LV-426 plant for roughly a good---50 or so square miles--in a nuclear blast that was about as powerful as maybe 40,000 tons of TNT when it went off.

I disagree. I enjoy most of (or at least parts of most of) the stories set within the Alien franchise. I think fans agree that we would like more xenomorph content to entertain us, and all have different gripes about the quality most of the franchise after Aliens was handled. The LV 426 , was originally the Engineers planet as shown in Alien covenant It was visited by David , who used the Black goo from Prometheus movie and killed All the Engineers and made the planet uninhabitable as he wanted to carry certain experiments which were possible only with out any difficulties and disturbances from any one . He used shawls body and perfected his creation to b the Xenomorph as shown in the covenant. I'd never really followed up on all the other "lore" you mention and, if fact, have forgotten a lot of the details even of what I did/we talked about at the time, etc: I forget unless I pull out the drawings and notes from way back when to help me re-refresh my memory. (That movie, I sorta suddenly realized, is now really rather ancient/is truly from another era, but m glad to know it still holds a degree of interest after all these years.) Are there any comic book(s) or graphic novel(s) that amount to being an illustrated version of the actual film that you might recommend? Might be fun to see an artist's version of the movie/see how our shots were depicted, as well as all the settings. Thanks again.

We aren't exactly certain, its likely the ship was shielded by the mountain shield like geology of its resting place called the illium range

Who came up with this elaborate speculation re: the theoretical background of Acheron? Is it pieced together from the films that came after the first one or two? Did some of it come from movie tie-ins or other ALIEN-related projects?---or is this mostly your own speculation?
Lore comes from other sources rather than just movies. He's probably taking into account all the video games that have released, comic books, etc.

@@craigsovilla6578 I was just really curious. I created a lot of the film's images and details about that world, but only for the first sequel to ALIEN. I'd never really followed up on all the other "lore" you mention and, if fact, have forgotten a lot of the details even of what I did/we talked about at the time, etc: I forget unless I pull out the drawings and notes from way back when to help me re-refresh my memory. (That movie, I sorta suddenly realized, is now really rather ancient/is truly from another era, but m glad to know it still holds a degree of interest after all these years.)
Are there any comic book(s) or graphic novel(s) that amount to being an illustrated version of the actual film that you might recommend? Might be fun to see an artist's version of the movie/see how our shots were depicted, as well as all the settings.
