In a setting where "evil megacorps" are so prominent, it could be super interesting to see stories from the perspective of a faction like this. Personally, I'd love to see an unlikely alliance between the UA and the UPP on the frontier, held together by their mutual distrust of the Third Empire and its close ties to the megacorps.
While the idea is intriguing, I have to warning you that its unlikely that UA and UPP will ever get along. We talking of "Space America" and "Space Soviet Union" after all. Historically speaking its more likely that soon or later these two factions will fight a war against each others. And the 3WE will probably side with the UA. Like UK and Japan sides with the United States in real life. The problem of the UPP is that it is a bit unrealistic. I mean the authors says it is composed by Russia and its block that cmprehend also Germany and Spain... What about France? Italy? Poland? Nobody knows. So technically speaking Europe is not just divided with NATO and Warsaw Pact, but the division of the continent is even more complex and that division must have some serious consequences on this universe. In the novel Im writing on a mixing universe between Alien and Halo, Earth federations that faces this new powerful alien threat decide that its not anymore possible to fight divided so conferences and treaties are done to unify Earth. Few are against this proposal, among them the first ones are the UA. But the proposal have a vast support so the 3WE, UPP, China and the Independent Colonies of Inner Core melt togheter under the banner of the UN. A war is about to start against the UA but in order to not waste assets and resources a deal is made. The UA are allowed to continue to exist outside Earth. Yes, it means that United Americas loses the Americas on Earth. New capital of UA that is soon flooded by colonists became Thedusand the core of UA territories become the Reticuli area. Alpha Caeli becames another great center of human industrial activities while the new UN reteats forces and colonists from the most far colonies to not easily lose them against the Covenant. While the UA loses their First Fleet, the best of their forces, due to an insurrection inside the fleet that joins the UN. Things becomes a bit grim for the UA but fortunately Weyland&Yutani that had always planned to find resources to face a probable alien threat, supplies the UA of everything they need. New ships, weapons, ammunitions, everything. So the Third Fleet under which operates the Outher Rim Defense Task Group become the main naval formation of the UA during the war. Conestoga-class light frigates become the main ship used by the UA Navy while they are also trying to found new colonies to strenghten their economic and military power. But a new class apoears just in time for the action showed in the novel. LV-426 is not yet colonized at that time nor the Nostromo ever find the transmission. Only a year later than the events in the novel WY and UA launch a joint venture to build Hadley's Hope. And the events happens around the same years of Aliens movie. Unfortunately part of the deal UN-UA comprehends also the cancellation of the coordinates of Earth to avoid that whatever ship can be captured by the Covenant, it will not risk to locate the homeworld of mankind. A sort of Cole Protocol that the UA accepts in exchange of support for the war. Of course also Sevastopol acquire new value in such scenario. The idea of having an urban center that is able to move in case of emergency is way more valuable than a static colony on a planet or moon. But construction of space stations will slow down the war effort so the main provider is WY that buy stations from other Earth-based corporations (that have seen their power reduced by UN so are in need of credits/money) and are passed to the UA that is more than willing to use them to allocate as much colonists as they can. Workforce of UA greatly reduced after the deal with UN so they need to save people. UA also responds to any distress call from any colonies in their range. It is an unofficial procedure for colonists in need under Covenant sieges that of asking for political asylum or even asking for citizenship and in exchange being rescued and being recruited in the UA workforce. In such dramatic scenario also, while UN is hiding in the shadows, the Weyland&Yutani is authorized by the UAAC HighCom to organize their private security as a military force and is often placed under the command of the UAAC. "Dog catchers" or WY commandos represents the first elite commando units of the UAAC. But recently the Colonial Marines have received order to form a specific group of special intervention and soecial operations. The new "Colonial Marines Recon Group" is growing fast and is equipped with the best technology the UAAC and WY can provide. They are roughly the UA version of the UNSC ODST. Unfortunately in my novel there are no Spartans so everything is reduced to a really cruel battle for survival. As we Alien fans likes. 😎👍

Honestly, the UPP probably should be leading in recycling, renewable, and sustainable technology; given their other disadvantages; only makes sense from their limited resource perspective. Given other examples of extremely isolated and unreasonably limited yet surprising innovative and resourceful countries; Cuba and North Korea come to mind for developing their own technology and even achieving enviable results; Cuba having developed a vaccine for some strands of cancer or their exporting of medical aid all over the world despite their other limitations. I wonder, is their highest honor "Hero of the Progressive Peoples"?
Honestly sounds kinda better than the other empires. Now it being formed originally by the heavily autocratic East Germany, Soviet Russia, and PRC is slightly problematic, but other than that seems really well designed
@Project: ACHERON .. Have you seen Ridley Scott's Raised by Wolves (2020) ? There's soooooooo much potential for it to be in the Prometheus / Alien universe! Look forward to your review(s)!
Blade Runner has been teased forever to be a part of the Alien universe; hell some of the extras on the Prometheus Blu-ray damn near confirm it; not even mentioning Easter eggs on the 1998 Blade Runner sidequel Soldier mentioning Alien film weaponry as training; but we ain't getting that confirmed; for obvious reasons. Isn't Raised by Wolves on HBO, so, much like Blade Runner it's owned by WB and not Disney; copyright laws for such things are bullshit; art should be public domain.

@@ColasTeam I think for Ridley they defaut are though. Prometheus Weyland confronting Engineer scene and Blade Runner Roy confronting Tyrell scene are philosophical mirrors of each other
In the Blade Runner Final Cut director commentary Ridley Scott states Blade Runner and Alien are in the same universe and there's little easter eggs like Tyrell Corp being mentioned in the original Alien film in a digital bio. Given that this was prior to the concept of "cinematic universes" as a commercial product and distribution models were different they were kept fairly distant from each other. Technically Blade Runner takes place about a century before the events in Alien which gives it enough room to be conveniently similar but not directly connected.
It's interesting how anti soviet attitudes from the anglosphere echo in media after the fall of the soviet union. Not a lot of people outside of the Russian speaking/eastern bloc world, but the Soviet Union had this thing called the "War on Nature" which saw MASSIVE infrastructure projects (which were often ecological disasters but engineering miracles) spring up and radically change the environment. Similar mega engineering projects occurred in China under and after Mao. It doesn't really make sense to me that these states (which seem to be based off of the 20th century communist states) struggle with technology when they didn't in our timeline, at least in the same way. Central planning is slow to respond to market changes, but it is extremely good, much better in my opinion, at dealing with huge problems (or making them much much worse, see the Great Leap Forward). Be it a bore hole in Siberia, draining of an inland sea, the repeated daming of massive inland rivers like the Yangtze and Volga, central planning seems to be more efficient and effective than market solutions. I think it makes a little more sense of incredible infrastructure projects being burdened by backwards central direction, atmosphere generators long since over produced Nitrogen, and central planning preventing production of other atmospheric terraforming gases
My impression is that the capitalist powers made a point of courting promising scientists and engineers to cause a brain drain in the UPP. There are ways to counter this, but it might have taken the UPP a while to put those measures into place, so they're still playing catch-up.
As much as I love this universe, its geopolitics are by far the laziest I've seen in a while. Because of course, Russia and China would reunite through the power of Socialism. The Russians would be all too happy to become a minority within their own country, yes. What about Vietnam and China? Those have been friends once, in millennia of shared history and for the duration of a war so that China wouldn't have an American-aligned country on its border. Mega-States never made sense to me, so perhaps I am biased but it's lazy.
