The manual states the kit it for the MT09/ MT09 SP. This kit comes with the carbon heatshield. Leovince also sells a kit for the XSR 900, this does not come with the heatshield. When I asked Leovince for the reason they stated that the MT09 kit won't work on the XSR 900 because of the swing arm. I don't really know what the mean by that. Did you notice anything?
UPDATED/REVISED VIDEO HERE: th-cam.com/video/TILy8F7CbKo/w-d-xo.html Please read the updated/edited description. I had left a bracket on that was supposed to be removed, making the LV sit a lot lower than it was supposed to and the gap between the bottom of the exhaust and the ground (ground clearance) is much smaller than it should be. Similarly, the gap between the top edge of the muffler and the bottom of the bike (muffler to bike clearance) is also much larger than it correctly should be. I have since corrected it, easy peasy. The LV now sits up close to the bottom of the bike and the clearance to the ground is as high or higher than the OEM. I will be re-filming this video with clearer imagery and explanation of the bracket in question.
Two things. The OEM exhaust got uglier and uglier every time I looked at it, and second it was just too quiet. This LV exhaust, with the baffle cut to about 1-3/4” long from its original size for me is the right balance between being a little louder and deeper tone but not obnoxiously loud and not with a monotonous drone like others I have heard.
Thank you! I have a separate video comparing the Corbin to the stock seat and in the description there is very detailed info on the specs of how I ordered it. I really like the Corbin seat - the biggest downside is the sticker shock 😮 Happy New Year!
Richard! Nicely done! I just became a fan of ur channel. You do exactly the same stuff I try to share with others on TH-cam . I am considering an XSR900 because of the great tech and performance. I own a KTM 390 duke (which fulfills the tech aspects of what I love) and a Kawasaki zx14r (which fulfills the power/performance aspect of what I love) It’s seems ur bike is a nice combo of both of mine. I’m not sure if u ever had the chance to ride a ZX14R but if u had…. Would u settle for the XSR the tech/performance to replace the absolute insane performance of the zx14r?? I appreciate any feed back u may offer. 😎👍🇺🇸 Ps: please keep these great videos coming!
Thanks for the positive comments. Never had the opportunity to ride either the KTM 390 Duke or the Zx14R. I’ve had three bikes over the years. First was a starter bike a Suzuki GS500 1987 if I remember. Then a Suzuki RF900 1996 - sort of a sport tourer in-line 4 similar but a little smaller displacement than a similar era GSXR1100. Got out of biking for a while with other interests and hobbies (boating, off-roading on my side by sides and RV up in Central FL, and my ‘98 Eclipse GST now heavily modded). Got back into bikes about 3 years ago once the kids got bigger and I was less worried of the risks and impact on them with motorcycling and now have the ‘23 XSR900 and a 2020 Indian Scout Bobber. I know, apples and oranges as far as style and handling, although the Scout is pretty quick for its weight and smooth up to about 90, a little scary feeling above that. I like the Scout and barring unforeseen adverse life circumstances plan to keep it. But if I had to keep just one it would be the XSR without question. The XSR is the most fun machine I have ever owned. I’m new to this and not really trying to make a channel or “become a TH-camr”. Got so much going on with work and life just not much time. I do enjoy occasionally doing these videos more as a “Pay it forward” type thing as so much on YT has helped me along the way. So far it’s all one-take stuff with no editing and I know it’s pretty amateurish. I have a really strong PC and DaVinci Resolve and have GoPro9 (4 of them from off-roading and boating/fishing) and recently got an Insta360 x3. Hope to do some better quality stuff on the bikes if time allows. Sorry for the long winded answer. Again, thanks for the positive feedback.
The dealership installed it as part of my purchase, but I believe it is an OEM Yamaha factory optional part. I think also there are similar aftermarket radiator guards.
Absolutely NOT. For a long time I couldn’t decide on an exhaust because all the videos I saw most seemed exactly what you asked - obnoxiously loud. Then I saw Moore Mafia’s TH-cam video on this exhaust with a ‘22 XSR900. I wanted something louder than stock and a little more aggressive but not crazy loud. My own admittedly unscientific testing I’m guessing as I have mine - with the DB killer installed, but cut 2” shorter than its original length, I’d say its about 25-30% louder than stock. Full length DB killer I felt was much too close to stock, yeah a little louder but not by much. DB killer out it was quite a bit louder but not as obnoxious as most others I saw on TH-cam. All the aforementioned comments on my perceptions are based on the bike at both idle and moderate accelletation and RPMs up to about 5,500-6,500 rpma. At WOT it gets fairly loud as one would expect. I haven’t yet had time to record a better quality (sound wise) video yet, its hellishly hot here in So Florida right now, too hot to ride except at night, and even then pretty uncomfortable. But I will as soon as practical. The only other exhaust that to my ears based on what one can discern from a TH-cam video that is pretty similar to the LV is the Spark Titanium - maybe a bit better overall sound. But the Spark Titanium is a shit-ton more money than the LV. AdmireInSpire has a good Yt video on it with good quality audio. Its pretty similar to the LV, maybe a touch louder. Lasty, Dave, FlashedByVCycleNut has an in depth write up on this LV exhaust and he personally has it on his MT-09. IIRC, he has some dB testing numbers as well. Dave highly recommends the LV and so do I, especially at the price point I got it for. Sorry this is such a long reply, just trying to answer fully as best I can for your and other’s benefit. Thanks for looking at my video.
The LV 1 Race exhaust is a full system but has no catalytic converter in it. It does have the threaded bung to screw in the OEM O2 sensor (no extension needed) because with the ECU flash I have if that sensor does not remain connected the OEM cruise control will no longer function.
Look at the updated video linked in the comments of the video. It sits now tucked way up close to the bottom like the OEM exhaust does. If the bike were to be dropped the side of the frame and maybe tank and handlebars will hit before the exhaust even comes close to touching
Its very tame with db, only abit louder than stock. 30 percent as you said there abouts. Most aftermarkets are more than twice as louder and some compared to euro five crap. I dont understand why they designed the tip like that. Looks abit odd. I hope you enjoy this and thankyou for sharing your mods etc.
The db killer as it comes is waaaay too quiet. Cut down as I did it’s quite louder than uncut and quite louder than stock with a much deeper tone. I think the outer tip is designed the way it is so as to deflect the hot exhaust gas to the side and away from the rear tire. I expect to finally have another video up tonight with my camera and audio setup now dialed in which will demonstrate the exhaust sound far better than as it is here just sitting static. Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, I had missed a step in the installation - it now sits correctly and much more clearance. See the updated/revised video. It’s on my description and the pinned comment.

@@LoopsFroott hello, I have had absolutely zero issue with clearance on the swingarm or elsewhere. I remain very happy with this exhaust.
