- Removing the ECU from my 2023 Yamaha XSR900 is a quick and easy task.
Just installed a SC Project CRT exhaust and will need to flash my ecu. I will be sending the ecu out to vcyclenut.

The ECU can be accessed and removed without rotating the tank to the side. Lifting up the tank either with a helper of a block of wood under it you can reach under and get to the connectors and slide it out. Have done it twice now. Also did my flash with VCycleNut - great work. Enjoy your XSR!

Okay.. what I did..
1. safest/easiest tank positioning, no connector removal. I had to twist the tank but untangled the 3 fuel lines and electrical cable,, everything stays connected. The tank with everything left connected is hanging off the left side beside the frame, on a 24" high trash can. Ample slack once that electrical wire is moved around the fuel line.
2. Tank out of the way (had to be Empty!!!).. all 10 or so Air box lid phillips screws into the plastic can be removed, and the lid removed with the ECU still attanced to all the cables! Ample slack.. flip the lid over.. you can see the connector latches. the two pop off connectors, and the big latch in connector. Easy.. no risk to tab breakage!! I hate that. Slide the ECU off the lid.. all disconnected.. good to ship to vcycle nut.
3. The air cleaner itself looks to be of healthy size for 900 cc. Easily optimized. The box lid snorkles don't flow well into the filter.. considering a mod mod there.

Scary as hell.. Connectors and Trim clips.. the key to life/everything.. Need some standards here.. but I guess that's later if ever.
Are you able to remove the restriction to get the original bhp or no?

Thanks for the video! It was very helpful. I ended up removing the top of the air box though and that made it far easier to unplug and remove the ECU. I have no idea how you managed to get it out without doing that.
In hindsight it would have probably been easier to remove the air box 👍🏼

If they'd routed the fuel tank connector differently would be cake. How to release that electrical connector. Always electrical connectors, fuel lines and Trim Clips and tabls. Wow!! thanks, exact same deal and color.. lead the way!!
Thanks! Yeah I hate messing with those connectors. One wrong move and your 20 minute job will become nightmare lol

Thanks for this video. I have the exact same bike, but with the full Leo Vince exhaust. I figured it would be close to the MT-09, but see there are a few differences with the XSR. Are you upgrading the air filter as well? I ordered a DNA stage 2 to go along with the ECU flash. Cheers!
Thanks! I did purchase a dna air filter. Just the filter not the stage 2. I may do a video putting it in. It’s pretty simple.
what happens if you replace your ecu? so if you use an ecu from an other xsr? what happens to immobilizer?
How long does it take you to get your ECU back?
It depends on how much you pay. I shipped mine out on a Monday and got it back on the following Tuesday. If you pay extra and ship it out Monday you can possibly get it back by Friday or Saturday.
dod you know if an ECU flash voids the warranty ?
Usually in most cases I believe it does. So if you’re worried about that I would wait until the warranty expires.
