They did not reduce the screen brightness. This laptop comes with the 500 nits and 300 nits option. The latter being cheaper and only 165hz compared to the 240hz on the first panel
Correct. Why even provide a 300 nits panel in the first place? Let us keep the 500 nits panel for ALL legion 5 laptops just like last year
@@bronztech 300 nits to 500 nits display is only a 10-20$ upgrade in lenovo website , maybe they got a shortage issue or smth.
Has anyone tested this Laptop on Arch linux yet and if so how well does it run?
I wanted to nuy the slim 5 but it's out of stock. So i ordered this one it was $100 more but 1tb ssd. Should i stick with it or cancel the order and wait for the slim 5 to stock again. I was thinking abiut taking this to school too.

Ye, thanks a lot for you sharing. Recently I intended to buy a new PC I used Mac too much of the time makes me know nothing about PC. Last time before I decided to buy the ROG I just saw this guy Pro 5, The quality is good for me. everything is fit for my working environment/office. I change my mind instantly.
But I am really frustrated by the versions of Lenovo brand, They also have the Slim 5 or Slim 7 right? and Pro 7. What the different between slim and pro?
Which one is fit for heavy work and play.
Slim is better for work and portability. Pro is better for gaming because it has better temps when under load. I personally like the slim better because I only play fps shooters which don’t require a top tier GPU
Do you suggest paying 270 USD more for i9 13900HX and 4070 version? of Legion 5i pro? Pls help me to decide, its very tough decision :D THANX!
If you need the power (video editing, streaming, gaming 2k/4K @ 144hz) then yes. Most users don’t need the excess power though imo. I personally am fine with the lower powered versions
in my country the 4070 version costs nearly 400 dollars more (from local currency) in most shops than the 4060....think i will be good with a 4060 XD@@bronztech

legion 5 has qhd monitor 240hz , 4060/4070 , i7 13700hx/ i9 13900hx or r7 7745hx/ ryzen 9 7945hx.
That one would have better cooling and CPU performance

i recommend you to buy it if you really need it, but if it is not an emergency wait for 2025 with Rtx 5000 models

4060 on par with the desktop equivalent. My friend got a 5i pro with 32gb 300nits panel ffor 1000$ with a 13700HX IMO probably one of the greatest deals on a new laptop ive seen in YEARS. In the past budget options with 6c cpus like the 9750h X 1660 ti sold for around 1000-1100 On sale during its first launch/cycle. Then into the lenovo legion 5 Microcenter exclusive 1100$ for a 1tb drive 144hz 1080p 6c cpu 140w 3060. Now seeing a 13700HX 1tb drive 32gb and QHD with a 4060 is pretty GG for 1000$. It makes desktops budgeted for a lot more personal/niche uses. When a package like that can be offered at that sales/bargain price. Other than poorly optimized titles like EFT do you really encounter needing a desktop for games a lot of titles ESP pve titles seem to get by these days with a budget/option like this for 1000-1100$. While being able to have it portable/on the go for lan/group playing potential. Or purely as a workstation even with a type-c charger
Lenovo vantage you can bump up wattage of the 4060.
How is the cooling of this laptop?
I have one too with same i7 but RTX 4070 140W TGP 8Gb GDDR6 VRAM. 1Tb nvmE ssd, 16Gb DDR5 5600MHz and 240Hz screen ips 500 nits 100% SRGB and 4 zone RGB keyboard.

Since RTX 4000 series are continually getting updates, it will be tough to tell. Wattage aside, yes it should be top 3 at least for me for the MID range category ($800-$1500 USD)
asus is the king this year. you can get tuf a15 with 4070 with just different $100 dollar than this
@@latenight4182 True, that specific model is great, and probably would beat this legion in terms of value. Still it doesnt' come with a QHD panel though which is almost a deal breaker for me.
legion 7 with 4080 or 4090 is probably the high end best , but legion 5 with 4060/4070 is probably the mid to high end best.

Battery life hasn't been much of an issue for the latest Intel gaming laptops. Specifically for ALL Intel 12th gen and up AND ALL Ryzen 5000 series chips and up. As long as the laptop doesn't come with a 63wHr battery, expect 2022-2023 gaming laptops to have around 4-5 hours browsing the web, which is no different from this Legion 5. I'll notify everyone if there is a laptop that suffers in the battery life department.

havent had any major problem with this laptop since except for that 1 time the touchpad suddenly stopped working. turned out it was due to some windows update.
also it has free game pass for 3 months!! haha@@jommammaxse95
