Zippo finally listened to us and is now repacking the inserts differently. The proper way lol let’s give them some praise here ! #zippo #breakingnews #insert #repacking
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Just repacked a D23 and an F23...find your local hairstylist (or have a woman do it for you) and get some of the 100% cotton that they use to keep perm solution from dripping into people's eyes. I'd love to see how it compares to cotton bacon...which is practically impossible to find, if so, not at a reasonable price, or in Canada, or with reasonable shipping. Based on what you've showed, I think that "perm cotton" is a bit thicker than "Cotton Bacon"...and with a "bag of bacon" going for what it is, with the ridiculous shipping they ALL seem to want for something to small and light...it seems to me that $35-45 for a box of cotton that'll probably last the rest of your life is a LOT more reasonable!
Yeah man that’s awesome. Making great and informational content about zippos has eventually changed the outcome of their product. Love zippos , great channel man keep it up. 🤙🏾
Great video my man! That is my EDC and favorite style zippo. I love my vintage look zippo 😁🔥 Wow good on them for packing better! Pretty cool Great video as always brother! Have a good one 🔥🔥🔥
this is NOT a recommendation this is just something i've seen done by guys in the military. a guy on a cot next to me one field problem was filling his (new) zippo. he yanked all the cotton filler out and put field ration toilet paper in there instead of the cotton. he messed with the case for a while, though i didn't see exactly what he was doing to it. then he took some plastic from his rations and cut it to fit the bottom of the insert. filled the thing put the plastic back on the insert and shoved it into the case. the next day i asked what he was doing and he said he might not get back to fill it for a while and this is what needed to be done to make sure the fluid lasted longer. no one carried a can of lighter fluid with them while on missions. if the thing leaked that smell was a dead give away of your position. i had 2-3 zippos back at the barracks, but i only ever brought bic lighters to the field. you'd have to have an extra one kept somewhere else because your gas lever might get depressed in your pocket for a long time while you're laying in the dirt and end up with an empty. i didn't bring the zippos, they were pretty and i didn't want to scratch or damage them down range.

i bought a zippo at a zippo store years ago (1990-ish?) and just opened it up again. was packed this same way. maybe different people are doing it or maybe different grades of zippos? al i know is my 30+ year old zippo was done right(?).
I just checked my Zippos, have 3, 2 are from 2020 and 1 was from 2016 when I got my first one, the 2020s surprisingly have the wick a lot better in there then I would have thought! All I had to do was lift the bottom and I saw it there, my 2016 tho (haven't gutted it yet) just opened it up and didn't see anything, but my guess is that it will be bunched up near the top of it, no wonder it didn't last more then 3 days Edit note : opened it up and it was just a big U with the wick like in this video, will need to see how the new ones i ordered a few days ago will look inside
Good to hear! I've been looking for cotton bacon for quite a while now, and every time I find it, it's either overpriced, in the US and they won't ship here for less than 30/40/50 and even 60 bucks!!!, or in Canuckistan, they want 20 bucks for shipping, or they're just out of stock. VERY annoying trying to find that stuff. d=^(
Zippo has been using the "strip" type wadding since the 1980's. I know this because I collect new in box vintage Zippos and have extensive notes about when certain transitions have happened (it's a pedantic nerd thing). As for the wick routing, it's been an off and on thing. Maybe they have improved routing in the past year or two, but when they used to wick and wad by hand decades ago it was definitely a lot better.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I told myself I was only gonna buy '41s and Vintage Looks from now on because 100% of what you said about their graphics is true, but here we are... @@1Patient yeah u will noticed compared to regular ones when u get one some day. It is a little looser but it was explained to me that case is thicker so it needs to be more loose.
