    So happy and glad that my stupid Bi-Polar switched and I have been active and motivated the last 2 days.
    Brother oh my Brother! I just found your page at 4 o'clock in the AM and I love the video and commentary you created and shared!
    You've motivated me and I appreciate you with a smile on my face.
    In a small box, with a printed word document listing each zippo and problem, I have had 7 zippos I love, that, for over 15 years, in need of repairs, have been in my closet, that I inteneded to send to PA for repair(s), I never did. I just opened the box for the first time.
    I don not know how to date the older ones i have.
    From the good old camel cash days, I have
    Camel 8 Ball that came with a tin package (ash tray). Just has a "X"
    Camel Pewter Zippo witha "XIII" that came with a holdr/base
    My father's zippo he purchased in Hawaii (1955-58?), it has a patent number and "ZIPPO" is different from current ones.
    My Mom's slim Zippo with same font as above, no year but has "III"
    the others are nothing special
    I will send my Dad's zippo on it's own first and look forward to
    yeah
    thank you

    That '92 orange Camel is my holy grail. Been wanting to get one for years, and 3 days ago I finally got it! Mint condition, never used. The flint had completely fused to the wheel, took a good 30 minutes to get it out.

  • @alecbuxton7634
    @alecbuxton7634 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You could argue that if Zippo have to remove some of the finish to fix a broken hinge it adds character to the lighter especially if is a used one that show signs of wear and tear overtime over one that is kept untouchable in a display rack or cabinet

    • @Zippofanatic77outdoors
      @Zippofanatic77outdoors  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lol could totally argue that. I would also add the finish of the lighter was already in bad condition. It would never sell for top dollar anyway. So might as well get it fixed and enjoy it.

    • @Zippofanatic77outdoors
      @Zippofanatic77outdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      A new hinge has solid pin. Your loose hinge that isn’t broken will just get a hollow pin. Haha every style of zippo makes a different sound. So I’m not worried about it any way lol

    Cant agree more with you about the packaging. I sent in 5 zippos for repair, 2 they didnt do shit about, a brand new 35 replica with a seriously crooked hinge which didnt close straight. They did nothing to that one. The other was a brand new armor zippo which had a significant gap they didnt look at at all. The other three they did fix. Anyway, i had wrapped all of these in bubble wrap in a corrugated carton box. When they sent it back to me after almost 2 months, they didnt reuse any of it, only threw them all into a bubble envelope and called it good. I was smart enough to ship the brand new ones in their boxes, so they did put them back in those at least, so no uncalled for scratches on those, but i mean you had all the packing material to just reuse and you dont? This was done by zippo denmark's repair shop...

    • @Zippofanatic77outdoors
      @Zippofanatic77outdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Zippofanatic77outdoors im glad they returned the boxes. maybe because i asked them to return all original bits even if replaced, on a note with each lighter. But ill be sending to germany if i need a repair in the future. The danes were very lacking in communication. The repair took over 2 months and they only replied to me during one day and i contacted the german shop to ask for help. They knew about the issue, so ill be using the germans next time, and maybe they will actually fix the flaws of my brand new lighters. Its a good warranty, but the danes didnt really live up to in in terms of QC issues. They work, but a crooked lid or a gap looks bad, and will allow faster evaporation...

    I live in the Republic of Ireland, and our state postal agency ('An Post') will not handle lighters, whether new or used, full or empty. It's not a customs 'thing', it's their own safety regulations... I can understand the thinking, but without fuel?! I mean, what'll be next? A proscription on pieces of stick, in case they rub together en route?! They take it pretty damn seriously too! 6 times over the years I've tried getting lighters sent to Irish addresses from abroad via the 'regular' mails, whether sending them myself or having them sent _to_ me, 6 times for 6 no~shows. One can't rule out pilferage, of course, but _every single time?!_ I'd have to be the unluckiest man in Ireland! Probably the most annoying thing is they don't even seem to put in one of those "We've been rooting in your stuff" inserts! (In contrast to their procedure when they intercept your arthritis medication!) You're most probably going to be OK if you're just posting lighters within the Republic, and probably - _probably_ - within Ireland as a whole, though with Brexit 'n all, I'd be somewhat loath to take the chance! I should say, too, each of these examples were all _after_ the EU got all integrated 'n everything, so customs declarations, and twee, creative workarounds like 'bric~à~brac', 'forwarding personal effects', etc, didn't even come into it! My point being, of course, that Zippo's no quibble free repair policy is absolutely great 'n all, but it's worth damn~all to you if you're beautiful collectable, with dragons _rampant_ and everything, winds up getting lost in the pond! All I can suggest (as a modest collector who's preferred make isn't _even_ Zippo) is to either use a courier such as DPD, DHL or the like, make enquiries with a reputable jeweller or tobacconist regarding how _they_ get around the problem, or just have the thing repaired domestically... which is a lot dearer than _free,_ any day of the week, and may invalidate the warranty as well, but those concerns are somewhat moot if some 'An Post' employee is going around lighting their smokes with your lighter, or, worse in my opinion, if it's been consigned to the crusher! Obviously my particular concern is solely with Ireland, but I can scarcely imagine that our Post Office is some quirky outlier in this regard, as a matter of fact I'm almost certain that the Royal Mail, or whatever they're calling themselves these days, have rules that are almost identical...
