      Same hear mate lol. Because I don't plaster a lot. I am quite slow. But this really helps speed things up for me with less arm ake lol👍👍👍

      @@bitTorrenter 900mm is a pretty good size for most walls, not too big or too small, though saying that, 1200mm is very good on the bigger wall

    Hi Mark. Great job. Do you use the sponge float or flexi trowel aswell? If so what stages do you use.
    Eg first coat , wet trowel , polish trowel etc.

      Hi mate Yere I just used my steel trowel to finish wile it wet on final coat then a quick polish after with a bit of water👍

    I used to use a bit of perspex years ago it was 700mm long and 150mm wide 2 or 3mm thick it was probably the first speed skim ever, I was a bit slow on the up take, missed a trick there I used it to make my job easier didn't realise it would make £££££££ on the market.

    I once done a full kitchen with a spatula and very little use of the trowel I used that tyzack one and and age trowel worked real well but I felt i had to do it that way as the gear was not waiting for me it was go for that or lose a wall or two was all plasterboard but the plaster was setting fast I must do a video where i use a spat the whole way through it dont feel as normal but can work also , I did finish with a super flex but at that stage the walls are under control :):) Nice video mate glad you getting on well with this

    Iike a lot of things skimming is all about timing and that speed skim would definitely help keep you in front of it but have to say that's a good job Mark 👍

      Was around 20mins. You want to try and get it on when it's still damp. But pritty ferm. So it goes on top not mixes in with the first coat👍

    Fair play, Mark. That looks like a real time saver. I don't mind doing a bit of skimming for a bit of variety but I've not tried using one of those.....I might just have to go out and buy one now to try it out! I'd be worried about carrying it around in the back of the van just in case it got damaged, I'm assuming it is quite fragile?

      Been using 1 for about 2 years now but I wouldn’t use 1 on PVA n skim only on boards, the Moldovans n Romanians on my job are absolutely shit hot with them and their standard of work is fantastic, clean neat and very tidy, what more can I say, give credit where it’s due🇬🇧

      I drive a ford transit a safety feature I use is I put both finishing trowels and speed skim with the protection blade on tucked behind the passenger seat head rest not had any problems in as many years as I’ve done it the padding from the head rest and bulk head has never damaged any of my finishing equipment

    Great video Mark. I've just bought one - 900mm. I wonder if you could get away with putting on just one coat of multifinish plaster and then using this to smooth over it?
    I bought the pole connector too so that I can do these artex ceilings, but I reckon the connector might slide up and down the speedskim as there isn't anything to stop it sliding up and down apart from a tight fit.

      @@markhep I used the speed skim and I am very impressed with it. It makes light work of skimming, particularly the final coat.
      Incidentally, have you ever noticed that bonding smells like a mixture of burnt hair and sh*t?

    How long do you leave the plaster before you go over it with the speedskim? Is there not a risk of taking it off the wall if using tool too soon. Nice job by the way mate.

      Chears mate. With mine you can pritty much go over it straight away and it's fine. Does not take much plaster of at all. Realy good for the slower plasterer like me 👍

      @@markhep Thanks for your reply Mark. I'm a slow beginner who has just bought a 900 mm Speedskim to try and help do my daughters me house. Using multi skim on the walls wan.t sure whether to leave for 10-15 mins before flattening.Another little question Mark is it just very light pressure on the blade as you cross the wall. Thanks again mate you've been a big help already.

      Hi mate yes you don't need much pressure on it at all. I prefer to go straight over with it. On first coat. Put second coat on straight over again or you can wait 10 mins. Then when it's going hard. Just finish with your stainless trowel with abit of water👍

    Is it ok to skim over painted wall by putting pva on first ?

      I want to try skimming for the first time as I never done it before, not to save money but I just want to try it myself, I done one coat of neat PVA as it says on the bottle use it neat, next coat I will do before I skim it and I’ll leave it tacky, I was worried as it’s silk paint

      Hi mate this is ohe plastic one not sure what model. It's 900mm long. I have been told the 1200mm is better. Probably depends on what size walls you are doing. 👍👍👍Hope this helps

      Hi mate so I got it on ebay but the guy sold out. But if you put this in OX PRO SPEEDSKIM - PLASTIC 900MM - OX-P530990. Should give you some of the same I paid a few pence less than 60 pound. Hope this helps👍
