Russell Brand has 6.38 million subscribers now, how absurd is that? I used to be one of them, when I think it was under 100k. He couldn't be more different now, but it was clear from early on that he was extremely naive.

Will be interesting to see how far he takes it, before it inevitably goes badly wrong, as everything in his life seems to fall apart on a fairly regular basis. @Willie Fistergash No. I can't admit any such thing. If we had all used basic PPE measures immediately, the virus would have been gone in a week. I have literally 30 years of training in infectious disease safety. But, I understand that the average person does not. What I took away from the pandemic was that the person of average intelligence doesn't understand anything about droplets, and social distance. And if the average person had any idea what gets transferred onto our faces whenever we are closer than 6 feet away from each other, they would NEVER stop wearing masks. Also, the average person has NO CLUE about how MANY virus, pollen, microbes, bacteria, fungus, spores, and others are in the soup we call "air". Again, IF the average person could conceptualize the virus properly, they would have followed the CDC recommendations. The government, at the time, made the decision to shut down the economy because too many people were ignoring the recommendations. It saved lives. It shouldn't have HAD TO happen. But, ignorance prevailed.

Dr Wilson, i was reading the ourworldindata end of year reports. They provide the reports you're using to back up your points. Anyway, in the funding sections of the reports i see the following :-
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. An initial grant provided unrestricted funding for general operations and data infrastructure development during the period 2020-2021. Upon successful completion of this initial grant, restricted funding was additionally provided for core project activities over the period 2021 - 2024.
World Health Organisation. This grant provided restricted funding to produce a set of public online charts tracking global health trends.
Bill and the WHO funding this company to provide charts? Not sure that's going to convince Russell Brand or anyone else.

I don't think you're understanding this correctly. He didn't earn a living as a left-wing activist or thinker. He earned a living as in actor, and just occasionally made commentary about politics that was nebulously left leaning. He never earned a living as a lefty. He is earning a living as a reactionary right-wing commentator now, not an actor. It's a huge false equivalency to pretend that he went from being a left-wing grifter to a right-wing grifter.

That said I do think you're right to be skeptical. He was probably just as reckless with facts when he was espousing left-wing ideas. It's just important to note that he did not earn a living as a political actor or journalist during that time period. He earned a living making movies.
He never monetized his political commentary outside of maybe writing a few books about spiritualism which aren't connected to left-wing ideology in any meaningful way.
Which is why I think he has an addict’s need for attention that even back then pushed him towards harmful narratives. He might have been “clean and sober”, but he’s always had the selfishness that characterizes the active addict.
@@MarcosElMalo2 exactly. Unfortunately, this is all too common with recovering addicts that address the addictions themselves, but not the underlying cause. They’ll just switch a “bad” addiction for a “good” addiction. I’ve known two people who were addicted to illegal drugs, who got themselves clean, only to turn around and become obsessive fitness junkies (way beyond healthy limits, like actually getting Rhabdo, which is insane). It’s sad, but oftentimes, the addiction is merely a symptom, and not the problem.

Russel is in no way (like the vast majority of people, unfortunately) a guy with actual minimal knowledge of biology, and basic science (and logic, apparently), so when something is up, his insticts flare up, and the rest is irrelevant. He might try to use references, but like most people, not scientific ones, to back him up, again, because he doesn´t actually understand it... In his rage against big pharma, he forgets that science is still there, independently of money or not, and so vaccines work, not because of money, but despite it´s existence, but that just doesn´t fly by the mind of an angry animal (or one just trying to get clicks and views), and like most people, he doesn´t know what exactly to look for, nor what questions to ask, because it takes understanding statistics, amongst other more complex ideas.
Well, I think he knows what his bank balance looks like., and maybe that's all that matters to him now. He's not the only one who lost their moral compass during the pandemic.

I also find Russell Brand’s delivery over the top, but as a liberal democrat, I agree with much of what he says. My daughter was forced to get the vaccine to attend grad school even though she had the virus early on and her antibodies continued to increase over time. She was in bed for three days each feeling horrible after each shot and since that time her menstruation has been out of wack, bleeding for 12 days instead of for 6 as she did for years. She told me that many of her girlfriends have a similar issue. There’s “no evidence” though that there is a correlation because no one is looking at it. The pharmaceutical companies had an obligation to gather adverse event data in exchange for their emergency status and they failed to do that. Any one who tried to post about adverse reactions were taken down from social media and labeled a conspiracy theorist. Science is about debate. When we squash debate or varying opinions, we have a totalitarian government and society. We need to listen to each other not dismiss one another. I know my voice may be different than most of the commenters here. I hope you can hold space for my view.

@Marco too. It turns out there is a history of vaccination causing minor disruption to menstrual cycles. The two reasons it's not common knowledge are probably
1) we very rarely undertake mass immunisation of adults who menstruate
2) The historical male dominance of the medical profession, so issues outside their experience are understudied

Marco. The thing you'll quickly note, is that it didn't matter which Vx they received, mRNA, Viral Vector or a classic attenuated / inactivated virion. All types of Vx produced disruptions to menstrual cycles.

Like you said, the safety signals reported in these turned out false, but even if stoke risk for people over 65 was slightly increased, its very likely they same mechanism responsible for that is an order of magnitude greater should the same person get covid as an unvaccinated individual..
