Dr. Dray, you are a household name in my home. I've watched you for so long that whenever I give my teenagers skincare advice they ask, "where'd you learn that, Dr. Dray?"..."Yup", I say. 🤓
i love that
Same@@christine02
I was going to say the same (or similar lol). I also can’t tell Dr. Dray how much I appreciate that she puts out videos every single day. That is a LOTTTTT of work!! But I watch her every single night as I’m doing dishes. I look so forward to doing dishes because of her lol! :)
Same same 😊👍
FACTS
Skin genius right here !!! 🔥🔥🔥.
I’ve learned so much from you, Dr Drey. You’ve helped me to understand ingredients and getting back to the basics. I’ve learned also that I’ve been spending way too much on products, thinking it was necessary for good skincare. I’m glad
to have made that course correction. Thank you!!
Wonderful, informative video as usual!
Thank you for this informative video especially at the end where you explained how it lowers the threshold when exposed to sun. Makes sense to me.
Thanks for the info Dr Dray I've never used glycolic acid unless it's hidden in some other products. Your hair looks especially pretty today, thick, healthy, and shiny.😊
Dr Dray, your skin is amazing!
Thank you for informing us. Your the best.
I am so happy to hear that we need to use this ingredient with precaution, when it comes to other areas of our body. I wish I would follow this advice before destroying the under armpits skin. Thank you so much for the accurate, provided information!
Luv this💖 Thank you, you have answered so many of my questions! 🌷🌸✨
I'm so glad I watched this as it confirms my experience! About a year ago, I introduced a glycolic acid into my face routine and was initially impressed with how much brighter my face looked. But over the past several months I've noticed that it seems to irritate my skin more than help - I kept using it for a while, thinking my skin would calm down eventually and it would go back to that initial glowy look on its own but it didn't. Now I've switched to just 2x a week and my skin is a lot better. I don't think that I will use it anymore once I use up what I have...
You’re so informative Dr Dray and I love watching your videos! They are very helpful as I’m in esthetician school making sure I know my ingredients and am using them properly 🧴🙌
Im 55yo w/ combo oily skin and have been using Alpha Skincare 14% 2-3days/week for years . Love it.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! ❤
Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray!
Morning!
The young lady at Sephora just tried to get me to buy this product a few days ago. I was looking online to see what other skincare I could and couldn’t mix it with…then you put out this video. Perfect timing👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you for the video. It is very informative and worth sharing.
Thanks for being awesome as per usual Dr Dray!
Can you do another DT video soon?? I love those and they’re pumping out all kinds of skincare for spring including glow recipe dupes I hoping for your word on!
Thank you for all your info!!!
Happy Tuesday Dr Dray so excited to be here I live for this ❤️

Thank you so much dr.Dray. I just started using the ordinary glycolic acid toner so I have so much knowledge on it thanks to you! 👍🏼❤
I use a glycolic mask by Serious Skin Care , I love it!! It works great and I have never had any problem with it
I always refer to you as my TH-cam dermatologist. Your advice has really helped me in selecting products for skin care. Thank you so much😊
Yes
This was really helpful! Thank you. Are there other actives/moisturizers that should be avoided when using glycolic acid?
Happy Tuesday Dr Dray…see you tomorrow x💙🤩
Happy Tuesday, Dr. Dray and friends!🎊✌️💜

When i saw the reel with that guy using glycolic acid in such manner really got me in safe mode 😂 He did what ? omg LOL . Fun things aside we should always read the instructions labeled on the skincare products and the areas where they supposed to be applied 😊❤ and other useful info. Thanks for pointing these out 👍 Doctor Andrea.
Great info! I’m 57 and use 10% lactic acid every other morning with my skincare routine. I’m thinking a once per week glycolic treatment would also be beneficial but maybe I don’t need it. Thanks
I learned a lot from this video and it makes sense. 👍
Happy Tuesday!
Morning!
Hi Dr. Dray, Hope all is well... Looking at your list ... Question: what is the difference between Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer SPF 50 and Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen 50 (purchased)? The active ingredients are the same, although there’s more inactive ingredients on the one I purchased; there is no mentioned of hyaluronic acid in front of tube. Hope this makes sense. I love the way it feels on my skin and the smoothness is incredible. Thank you, and take care... I do enjoy all of your videos!
I found glycolic acid to be very effective when I was younger and had oilier skin. But now that I am using tretinoin on a regular basis, I don't want to add extra irritation into my skin care routine and so I have backed off using this. It's definitely an effective ingredient if you know how to use it properly.
Good morning Dr Dray ❤
Happy Tuesday!! I Hope You're Having a Great Day!!🦋
Greetings Claudia Smith hope u r well n Happy Tuesday😀👍💜….
I love glycolic acid. I switched from L’Oréal to The Ordinary due to quantity and price difference. I use it about 3x a week at night on my face and neckline and follow up with CosRX essence and cream. It’s been wonderful.
L’Oréal is much better quality than the Ordinary imo, but I’m not paying $25-$30 for that lil bottle.
Where do you notice the quality difference?
@@exomake_mehorololo Good question! The honest answer is the concentration (10%) and how fast the results came 🤷🏻♀️ Personally, L’Oréal felt better and more effective at a quicker rate. I only had to use it once a week. But again, I just looked up the price at $45? Not in this economy.
AND that higher concentration needs to be used less. Some girls out here be applying it every night. Skin looks great now, but the damage will eventually surface.
The Ordinary (7%) at $13 is a lower concentration that I have to use more often. I’ve done my girl math and this is the choice that works best for me. Slower results, no damage or increased sensitivity, a bigger bottle and it spreads well 😇
So 🙌🏼 in conclusion they are both great. Just a matter of how your skin reacts and how much money you’re willing to blow.
Just remember, immediate results don’t always last forever. Slow and steady wins the race.
One important thing to remember is the ph balance……The Ordinary has the perfect ph balance making it more effective than many other products at a higher concentration. According to Angie ( Hot and Flashy) using the wrong ph balance means you might as well be using nothing…..I have no clue what the ph balance of the Loreal is lol. It might be perfect as well….just something to consider😊
I don’t know about L’Oréal formula but I don’t care too much for Ordinary. I once used their formula I got hives from using their line actually. Not sure whether it was improper preserving of their formula but since then I don’t use Ordinary. You get what you pay for most of the time, not always though as L’Oréal sounds too expensive. My guess is they have extra stuff in there that is not just glycolic acid as it isn’t an expensive ingredient. It’s good for people with oily skin in my opinion, not for sensitive skin. I like other resurfacers that tends to be a lot more gentle…
@@KittenBowl1 I saw how The Ordinary was damaging a lot of people’s skin. I think they may just have too strong of concentrations in their products and people are using them improperly or they just don’t have the skin to handle it. Pixi Glows formula gave me a terrible, itchy rash but so many women swear by it.
I think you’re right about the quality in L’Oréal….but still not for $45 😂
Woohoo! I just recently started to get scalp acne so I started using the ordinary glycolic acid in a spray bottle on my scalp. So glad to learn more!
Be careful of getting grey hair
Thank you, Dr Dray! Could you provide information how make-up and creme-blushes etc impact the performance of sunscreen? Always afraid of putting on creme products over spf. Thank you in advance!!
The Isntree GA has been wonderful, I use it twice daily
thank you for this video
Dr. Dray, please talk about the VT reedle serums!! Thanks!!
I love using pha from the inkey list great product
PHAs are a great, gentle exfoliating option
Hi, thanks for this video. It was very helpful. I am using tretinoin 0.05% at night. How would I incorporate this into my skincare routine? If using in the morning, would I skip tretinoin that same day in the evening ? Thanks
Just started using Glycolic Acid (7% - The Ordinary). I use it after cleansing my face (Shiseido Foaming Cleanser), (Glycolic Acid) then followed by Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (The Ordinary) and Shiseido Bio- Performance Revitalizing Cream. I'm 67ys. and still occasionally have break outs. I have sun damage, i.e. dark spots. However, my skin feels soo nice right now. Do you still practice Dermatology?? I've followed your for quite some time, and feel I always get factual and understandable information . Thank You!!
Glycolic Acid really stings my face. Thank you for this information!❤️
thanks for watching

Hi Dr. Dray! Can you speak to using glycolic acid on the scalp? I use apple cider vinegar several times a year as we have really hard water, and it helps. I have heard glycolic acid can be useful too, but wanted to ask about it! Thank you!
Happy Tuesday! I was using Glycolic Acid Serum from L'Oreal but it was too much for my sensitive skin. I let my skin get used to it and over time it stopped stinging. However, eventually I noticed problems with my skin looking red and irritated. So I stopped. Also, your demo on how to manage wet hair over the weekend was very helpful, thank you!
it can be irritating for sure

Thanks Dr. Dray, should we be careful about the frequency of using glycolic acid since it’s been linked to kidney damage?
Happy Tuesday! Can you please make a video about skin manifestations of COVID?
I am a wound care NP and am seeing several cases of Covid toes.

What are Covid toes symptoms? Not familiar with that issue. Thnx
The ordinary glycolic acid toner has been so helpful in managing my HS. I will keep using it all over my body.
I also have hidranetitis supparitiva. How do u use it?
@@indiracox7573 I have it in a spray bottle and put it on my flair areas. I spray it then kind of spread it around to reach the entire area. It really helps lessen my flares. Don't use it on open wounds.
Thank you!
You MUST use it…I feel the same way about Tretinoin or any vitamin A derivative-even the drugstore retinols. I have tried all versions of slow/gradual exposure, short contact, etc. and absolutely cannot tolerate it. I feel like I’m gonna be the only old lady not on retin A. I feel so left out because we are all told it’s the MUST HAVE of skin care.
As for glycolic acid-it’s the only that works on my arms and legs to smooth out my chicken skin. No irritation whatsoever!
Me too! I can't use adapalene or tretinoin
Same here!
I can’t tolerate tretinoin but I have been using adapalene for years.
Nope. You're not alone. I can't handle adapolene.
Needing to use skincare is dumb
Oh my god just what I need
Hi Dr. Gray, is it okay to apply vitamin c serum after using glycolic acid toner?
I used glycolic acid (the ordinary) on my neck and back. I like the results. Even though I have been using it for almost a year, I can still feel sting and pinching. 6:30
I've tried glycolic acid but my skin didn't tolerate it well. I was using the one from The Ordinary nightly. Maybe that was too frequent. I appreciate this information and may get brave and try it again. Happy Tuesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a tranquil evening. 💜

Hi my Dear Sweet Sweet Friend!! I'm Sending You Some Vegetable Soup, So You'll Feel Better Soon!!🥣 Much Love!! Sweet Dreams and God Bless You Always!! 😴
Yeah. I only used it on my T zone once or twice week. I like the glycolic acid especially for my keratosis on the arms.
My face hates this but my body loves it!
great for KP and rough, dry skin

Thank you for addressing this glycolic acid information and where it should be used . Because you have some people that want to use this product all over the body like a lotion. And then want to blame the product for not doing what it was designed to do 🤦🏾♂️
Thanks Dr. Dray.
I just do short contact and use a cleanser with glycolic and lactic acid. Leave it on 10 minutes, wash it off. I get results doing that 3-4 times a week. Couldn't handle a toner, active cleanser works for me.
👍
What cleanser do you use? I can't use alot of acid toners or serums because my skin is really sensitive.
@@gabdizzle294 I use the naturium smoother body wash. It's fine for your face, nice n' gentle. I think 5%, plus pha. It's nice and helps keep things smooth and even.
@@gabdizzle294 the naturium smoother body wash, good for face and body. When acne flares up I use the super cheap acnefree benzoyl peroxide cleanser with 2 % glycolic acid. Brightens my skin like nothing else 🙅♀️
I can vouch for the Alpha Skincare body lotion 👍🏾
it is really good!
Dr. Dray, can you please make a review on Anua? Thank you
You may have to check smaller channels that cover k-beauty like Kelly Driscoll or AliceintheRabbitHole.
I just saw an Instagram reel yesterday and there was a dermatologist saying to use nail polish remover or acetone on your face first, then glycolic acid once a week! It’s nice to see Dr. Dray do this video, it makes way more sense to not follow blanket statements.
Using nail polish remover or acetone on your face? Omg I would never in my life do that haha.
I know right? The guy was a deematoogist so I’m guessing it’s okay in certain scenarios? But I couldn’t believe he was recommending this to do weekly! 🫣
That seems like a joke honestly. Acetone is extremely rough even on the nails.
Wth? That's crazy
I thought so too! I jumped to the comments and anyone who questioned it got ridiculed by people! Everyone was immediately Snapping back at questions with responses like, “you’re not a doctor”!? I think it’s a normal reaction to question acetone on your face 😂
Dr. Dray, what is the best sunscreen? I am in my 50's. Thanks:)

Hi dr dray❤
happy tuesday!
Glycolic Acid can trigger cold sores in those with HSV-1
Stop using gycolic acids (and other topical actives) for at least a few days before getting aesthetic skin treatments (such as injectables), or getting chemical hair services (hair colours/bleaches, perms/straightening etc.)
Be honest with the person offering the service, otherwise the outcome may not be favourable. A professional provider should inform & remind clients before each appointment about what to avoid before and after treaments...also medications (inc. blood thinners) alcohol consumption, physical exercise etc.)
Dr Dray has discussed this in previous videos.
👱🏻♀️❤️
Skin saving advice! 👍🏼
Can you do slugging while using glycolic acid
Dr dray! Do you have any opinions on using topical sulfur for acne? I just saw the inkey list has a acne clearing moisturizer with it in it and I'd love to hear ur opinion on it!
She has a video on sulfur
As someone with Rosacea & sensitive skin, I realized Glycolic ain’t for me! Not worth the redness, stinging & irritation I get from it.
Same! Way too harsh for me
Same
Same. I’ve been ok with Mandelic acid once or twice a week though. Lactic wasn’t as great. Went back to my ordinary Mandelic acid.
Would you ever please consider making a video on soft water versus hard water because it seems like both of them are bad in their own way and both cause acne and I just cannot win with this water battle. Hard water has magnesium and calcium and a bunch of other minerals and chemicals but soft water has sodium or potassium and those can also exacerbate skin issues. it seems like my folliculitis is so much worse now using soft water and I just don’t understand it.
Dr. Dray! Would you consider reviewing the Londontown nail care line? Specifically the concealer polish and the “Gel Genius Top Coat.” (It’s not actually gel.) TIA!! 🌱
My manicurist uses this brand in both the gel & polish. My experience was that the gel stayed on really well; almost too well. She had to file it off & May have contributed to my nail surface becoming uneven, which I’m now trying to recover from & grow out.
@@monicarose2135 oh dear! And no, I wouldn’t use their (or any) actual gel polish. My nails wouldn’t be happy. But they have that non-gel called gel genius top coat and I’m wondering if it’s friend or foe. I used non-acetone to remove it and it took a full minute per nail lol.
And thank you for the feedback!!! ❤️
I guess using retinol & glycolic acid is a no no ? Can I use them separately - like every other night ?
My phone comments don’t seem to appear but thanks for this! ❤❤❤
happy tuesday!
Happy Tuesday !
Can you talk about like mood lamps that are supposed to help with seasonal depression. Are they ok to not wear spf with?
Think i damaged my skin barrier initially with the glycolic acid toner, didn't even use it regularly either. I think like a comment above, short contact products are better. Right now I'm not using any because I've got done dermatitis issue.
Also as a black woman, a dermatologist mentioned how we especially should be using bigger molecules acids because if we do smaller molecules for faster results (unsupervised) the dangers of hyperpigmented scarring is worse. Because on other skin tones, scarring can be dealt with faster.
Your derm is correct
@@LavenderCross75 of course, it's Dr AlexisStephens, She's a derm on youtube, not my personal dermatologist though haha
How do you apply the Neutrogena? Do you have to use a cotton pad or can you pat it in?
Im currently using Glycolic Acid from Good Molecules. can I layer it with Niasorcinol Serum?
I can only use it on my forehead, then mandelic on the rest of my face & neck.
Does this information apply to snail mucin??? I've heard that snail mucin has glycolic acid, but when I look at the ingredients and promotional points on my snail mucin toner it doesn't say anything about glycolic acid.
Mam, how to treat post chemical burn PIH..? I damaged my skin with chemical burn and it is deeply pigmented.. suggest treatment opinions..
Omg, for the past I've been using the Pacifica glow baby booster serum with Vitamin C and glycolic acid under my sunscreen in the morning and a retinol at night. No wonder my skin is so red, dry and itchy!
1. Glycolic acid is an exfoliator and retinol does that too.
2. Occlusion under my sunscreen plus sweating 😬
3. Plus my morning workouts when I get the most sun
4. And my skin is semi sensitive to begin with
Yeah, that serum is going back in the cupboard and staying there! I kept thinking it's my retinol and the purging process but now I can figure it out - minus the glycolic acid input!
Use it at night on a no return A night on a day when you haven't been in the sun. Sauna. Sweating a lot...worked wonders on age spots and rosacea....start out a little with more on spots on forehead chest spots , non sensitive areas.
Godspeed
Dee
So what should we use under our arms? I've tried the peroxide wash you recommended and it's not helping. Suggestions? Just had a full blood and hormone panel done and everything is normal!! Please help!
I’m a woc and I noticed that TO’s glycolic acid would cause hyperpigmentation. I felt like it always smoothed my skin but eventually I noticed my skin would look slightly darker in certain areas. Like I burned myself but I never felt any burning like when I do a real peel. Same thing happened with their aha+bha peel. The discoloration doesn’t last but it’s bothersome.
Once I made that connection, I remembered Dr. V (another dermatologist) talked about how this can happen with skin of color. I doubted it cause I hadn’t made the connection yet! Now I just stick with mandelic acid.
I was wondering if I could possibly use glycolic acid on my scalp 🤔. I think I’ll test a small area
I tried glycolic acid once on my face before bed. My face and my lips were on fire for two weeks.
Could you please talk about applying vitamin e from capsules meant to be taken orally on skin face and body?
Topical vitamin E serums : 🌚
It took me FOREVER to realize that my eye products were making my eyes water not because of the eye product but because I had gotten glycolic acid on my eyelids or too near my eyes. THAT was the irritant. Then, I put concealer or eye shadow on, and my eyes just couldn't handle it.
This is why I just found this video. The same thing is happening to me and it just occurred to me that I just started using glycolic acid and haven't made any other changes to skincare or makeup. Thanks for your comment! Now I'm sure it's me getting some cross contamination with the GA and not my eyeshadow or primer. 🙃
Is there any recommendation on percentages? I’ve used as high as 50% but only able to keep on for a 1-2 minutes and rinse off with baking soda water. How often would it be safe to use this level of percentage?
would a 'dark spot' caused by a healed burn benefit from Glycolic Acid spot treatment (on back of hand)?
Can i apply first niacinamide serum then after can i apply glycolic acid serum?
Can we use it on the nail cuticle cause I have really dry skin on that area
Can abreastfeeding motheruse it???
What about glycolic acid peels? What are your thoughts on them?
Pretty sure she has videos on those. You can just do a search, dr dray chemical peel.

Really hard to find something for my tech neck.. trying vita C serum; tretinoin is too strong. Is AHA any better for neckline wrinkles?
Same. No tretinoin, no adapalene. I can use that beauty of joseon eye cream with retinaldehyde without any irritation on my neck though
I use glycolic acid 2x a day every day. Usually on damp skin after washing my face. My face is not stripped but I lean oily.
My glycolic acid pao got over and it is still so much left in the bottle, what can I do. It didn't expire though.
