    When receiving the m365 I was quite skeptical, but the quality of this product and its features changed my opinion a lot! And I’d like to guide you through my learning curve, exploring and testing almost everything about this scooter.
    Unboxing the bike leads me to the first top feature - the build quality!
    It is one of these 5 things I liked the most! The color is great. It is not black… It is more like a very dark grey color and it is covered in a texture that is a bit softer than the Mijia 4K action camera texture - that gives phenomenal grip and the feeling of something well-built. You will notice that there is a rubberized mat where you step on - brilliant idea, and it protects the material from mud, and also seems to not absorb too much dust and dirt either.
    The second top feature that I want to highlight is the Cruize control: I know - something so minor! Which is ABSOLUTELY fabulous. Honestly - I won’t buy a scooter without cruise control in the future.
    Smartphone APP - Which is my third favorite top feature. Lightweight, clean, super tidy (it is the well-known Mi-Home app!) and with great control! While you have no speed visibility indication on the scooter itself, the app gives you full amount of data. Including the expected covered range, various temperature and sensor data and so on. You can even upgrade the firmware from it! And some of the features can be enabled or disabled - like the already mentioned cruise control.
    Motor efficiency
    The Xiaomi M365 electric scooter is capable of achieving the speed up to 25km/h in normal mode. In eco it goes as fast as 18 kilometers per hour. The momentum of the Scooter is given by a brushless motor encased in the front wheel which has a nominal power of 250W and a top (burst) power of 500W, the developed torque is also impressive and it's rated to 16 Nm and can go uphill a 14% incline. Note that these 14% are a subjective measurement - my older scooter was claiming up to 20% incline, however it stops at places where the mijia scooter continues without any troubles. The range is around (achievable) 30 km when ECO mode is used. In mixed environment with many speed variations I usually reach at least 20 kilometers or about 13 miles in normal mode. If you are more constant and are riding in Eco, you will certainly get achievemts close to the estimated maximums, even if you are near the maximum supported weight.
    Popularity: Popularity, as my last top headline is more or less subjective. Having tried a number of scooters they have many things in common. Choosing the right one is usually a tough task, and every individual may have different point of view about what is most important. But sometimes simply knowing that you own a device of specific brand could be good enough. And - of course - he Names Xiaomi and Mijia are already well-known for their quality, well-built and good looking products.
    Unlike this scooter, other unpopular models that are produced not that massively, have spare parts which are very hard to find. Replacement parts for the m365 are not just easy to find - you can choose from variety of options, and on top of that you have tons of 3rd party customizations.
    So tell me: what is your favorite m365 feature?

    I remember watching this video around the time I first rode this scooter (I rented a Bird scooter which was a Xiaomi M365). At the time, I had no idea how this scooter would impact my life in such a positive way. I've now put over 500 miles on the Xiaomi Mijia M365. I added the Slime tire sealant to both front and rear tires and this helps prevent flat tires. I really enjoy riding this scooter. This scooter inspires me, and many that see it. Every time I ride the scooter, at least one person will ask me about it, and their level of enthusiasm is truly a joy to experience. We are doing many experiments with our scooter, we have add a solar trailer that allows us to extend the range of the scooter during the day time, and we are working on ways of charging the scooter on demand, after the sun has gone down. We are learning so much.
    It was videos like yours, that help me to know, that this was a scooter I want to buy. It was the best five hundred dollars, I've ever spent on transportation and hobbies. Thank you for a great video!

      Hey, it is so great to read this comment. And I will pin it as the top one - I believe more people need to find out about this new trend and the efficiency we get with these scooters.
      Reading your post makes me feel like it's written for me :-) I now avoid traffic jams, and the feeling of the wind on my body is so awesome.
      This summer was quite rainy here and I only have half of your mileage, but ride it almost every day.
      What I like the most is the "fuel" cost :-) Around 20-30 cents for full charge. makes around 1 cent per kilometer. Wow! ;)

    The funny thing is there are a lot of negative media reports coming out. They focus on injury that these "menacing machines" cause to pedestrians and riders alike.
    Then the next segment, which has nothing to do with scooters or electric Skateboards, they talk about how to save the environment, recycling, and how good it is to lower your footprint.
    The hypocrisy is ridiculous with these naysayers.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah, media can be nasty and the desire to control the masses and impact with weird statements is a serious issue. Not too many sources you can trust nowadays.
      One thing I agree - in many countries authorities need to place proper regulations about electric scooters and increase the awareness about that. In many European countries scooters are not allowed on bike lanes, and neither they are on pave-walks or streets. Which sort of makes it illegal to ride. Not that anyone is adhering that.

    • @HalkerVeil
      @HalkerVeil 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tech4All Yeah.
      When cars were new they used to kill people a lot because they never looked before walking across a street. The media back then had the same arguments. They wanted cars to not be a thing and couldn't see it's potential for progression. Until the term Jaywalker was used to retrain the public using sidewalks and crosswalks. Back then a Jay was a derogatory term. And nobody wanted to be a jay.
      Feel sorry for anyone actually named Jay. lmao
      I can only imagine how those people would have stalled human progress if they got their way. Because when scooter devices become the norm then that opens a city to a whole other level. Industry and businesses can build around the fact people can travel farther, and faster, within a city.
      Also maybe some day we'll have safer bike lanes instead of having to share the road with vehicles.
      Anyway, just my rant and ramble.

    Hello, thank you for the amazing review and for all tips. I have kind of general question. I am also from Bulgaria, Sofia and you know what it the condition of our roads here, except the places where there is a bike track. Do you find the Scooter convenient for Sofia. Also I waned to know approximately how long I will be able to use it before the battery need to be replaced with brand new, if you have any idea ? For me personally the advantages making me want to buy the scooter and not a bike are the size and preventing me getting sweaty on my way to work :) I do have a car, but I would like to be more environment friendly and to save some money from fuel

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Katrin, thank you for your great questions.
      I believe that we share similar needs - I also prefer not to drive, and the scooter is a wonderful way of moving around in a more ecological and non-sweaty way.
      I am still on my way reaching 1000km, and so far it feels good. The battery is one year old, and yesterday I managed to ride 16 kilometers with around 35% left.
      I had a punctures, and after the third one I've switched to solid tires - and that's the best decision I've taken so far :D
      Not sure about the battery longevity - with proper maintaining it should be good for at least another 1-2 years. Also, the M365 has a lot of spare parts that are easy to find.
      There is a good M365 group for Bulgarian users - check "m365 Bulgaria" in Facebook 😎😇

  • @georgeforgie6430

    In recent reviews of this scooter on Amazon, you will see a problem mentioned by several recent purchasers (including me): there is a clicking, knocking noise that seems to be coming from the front wheel. It varies with the speed you are going. Would love to learn from you or your viewers whether you’ve experienced this issue, whether you have either an explanation or a fix, and even whether the problem is really a problem or perhaps just a tolerable nuisance. Thanks.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi George and thank you for pointing to this issue. I have seen multiple users reporting the same condition in the facebook group here:
      facebook.com/groups/1590258151025293/?fb_dtsg_ag=Adw7Ooer8UTuJ2ndqkCzar8ORprs7DjzcexTt5_VogaEOA%3AAdzTm4pzn_AHjsqjPplGg6oCTQ7-33L_eDzq0v5BEjX7UA
      I have never had it. Looks like this issue affects mostly folks that have switched to custom firmwares. Have you?
      - Is the noise there with both speed settings?
      - Does it change the intensity with different weather conditions and temperature deviations
      - have you noticed any difference with changing the tyre pressure?
      Hopefully it is a "feature" that will get queter in time.

      Agree there is always clicking noise at front wheel. 2nd problem the fender at rear wheel very flimpsy. not ideal to fold. Screws of rear fender cannot hold on due to weight of the unit. Lastly, is the very small hook that connects the handle post and the step board. This hook of my unit already snapped. Good thing i was not in full speed. Just bought my unit last april 2018. 😤😤

    Helpful video, I am looking to get one soon. One question: Is there anything stopping someone else from just riding away on it when you park it outside? Is there a bluetooth lock on the app like the Bird has? Or do I need a physical lock?

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Spencer, and thank you for this question.
      There is a "lock" option which is enforced via the smartphone App - guess it is similar to what Bird has implemented - and it makes it very difficult to move the device.
      To be on the safe side - maybe a physical lock is not a bad idea.

    Did you flash the modified firmware that removes the speed limit? What is the range with it?

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, I did not. Quite happy with the standard firmware, and on top of that I read about complications, weird sounds, defective motors and so on in the facebook groups, which at the moment is enough to keep me away from it :-)
      Based on other people's feedback - the range is similar to the stock. Difference is the thrust you have , especially on lower battery levels.

    Hey, fantastic video! I’m really considering purchasing this, but I have a few questions beforehand.
    A) Is the battery replaceable?
    B) How easy is it to replace tires if needed? I am thinking of using solid tires instead of air.
    C) Have you ever ridden it in the rain?
    D) How has maintenance for the scooter been so far?
    E) How far have you been able to travel? I live in NYC so I can see myself using this a lot
    Thank you, hope to hear from you soon!

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Moe Kro. Let's see how far we can help:
      A) Yes. Expensive though :-)
      B) It is rather difficult. Best practice is to heat up the solid tires in order to make them more flexible. You may beed a second pair of hands.
      C) Yes - and it is fine. I tend to use lower speeds and avoid too flat surfaces as it can be quite slippery. Guess solid tires are even more slippery.
      D) For 400km - just checking the tire pressure and adding the hinge mechanism enhancement from curiousjoe.se
      E) I try to use it every time the weather is good and the distance is no further than 15-20KM (12-12 miles).
      If you are in NYC, then there should be the BYRD scooters - they are based on the m365. Try them.

    Are these wheels modular? As compared to a carbon fiber design, the front wheel requires a full disassembly of the upper chassis, it's highly tedious, I am hoping for something simpler. And does this compare to the speeds to that of an Eco Rico?

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Logan and thank you for the excellent questions you are pointing to. Looking at reviews it looks like replacing flat tire won't require too much of disassembly. Never happened to me, so it is hard to give an estimation based on just watching other people's videos.
      As for the speed - it is not as fast as the Eco Reco - the motor is 250-500W (and Eco Reco usually pointo to 750W), and speed is about 5-6 mph slower. Range is comparable and very much depends on the riding style and intensity.
      What I like better are the larger wheels - makes riding experience more comfortable. On the other side - the Eco Reco models have adjustable height and seem to be more compact.

    Good video my friend. I've only had my scooter for a month and after doing some research about the loose hinge mechanism problem I bought a shim that's been designed (via 3D printer) to fix the looseness in the hinge. You might want to check out a video on a mod kit created by Curious Joe (everything in it works great). My only gripe about the scooter is that I wish it had some type of suspension built in and that the handlebars could be folded when in the collapsed position.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My thoughts exactly (about the folding handlebars =) ).
      And last week I've ordered the Curious Joe's pack and am eagerly waiting to see how it will fit.

      And hey - thanks a ton for that summary! are there any other ideas to suggest? Maybe I am missing some mod :D

    • @craigwflys
      @craigwflys 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like how you can remove the speed limit but I'm not going to mess with it due to it being such an expensive item. One more thing I did change was the little rubber cap on the rear fender (which fell off after one week). I bought a red one also from Curious Joe and it's much thicker than the original (I put some silicone on it so it would never fall off) and it not only looks better but locks the handle to the rear fender even better than the original. That's all I'm changing for now.

    • @craigwflys
      @craigwflys 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Be careful when first inserting the shim and locking the hinge. I used the thinnest shim and to lock it I had to use a bit of force. However it was so tight that once I released the hinge handle the hinge was so tight that it wouldn't release open. I had to remove the hinge bolt to get it to collapse open. Then I adjusted the little piece of metal that grips over the hinge when closing so that its tight but not too much and releases open when needed. No play anymore. The clear protective film for the power button really works well also.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tips! :-)
      Guess it is too late for the protective film, as I already have a few scratches there :(

    I have the m365 Pro, I get way too much attention on it, feels amazing to ride. 😂
    I've ridden it over 150 miles, and no problems with the handlebar making rattling noises, but I did puncture my rear wheel, but that's only my fault, the pressure in in the rear wheel was way too low, it should be 50 PSi for someone weighing 80kg but I had mine lower than 20psi 🤦🏻‍♂️ 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Hey man i'm looking to buy one of these to get to and from work, but i have a couple questions if you or anyone here might be able to answer
    Are replacement parts difficult to apply? such as a new battery or even the new tires that help against flat tires?
    What exactly is echo mode?
    How long roughly does it usually take to fully charge?
    thanks if you manage to answer any

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, I am very, very happy to see questions, and even happier if I can help somehow 😎
      - the replacement parts are relatively easy to apply. I am not an engineer and was able to replace a flat tire - so guess the rest is not that hard. Also - because the model is quite famous, there are many tutorials about literally everything.
      - pardon my English - perhaps I am pronouncing it too bad - it is Eco mode - a mode which consumes less energy. It reduces the motor power and limits the maximum speed to 18 km/h.
      - about 5-6 hours

    Couple of issues with video but overall good review:
    1. you mention an issue with creaking but don't go into very much detail about the issue.
    2. You mention about a 3d printed part that could help fix the issue stated above but fail link
    3. Yo mention about a facebook group but also do not link it. (i have been to a couple of different ones and resorted to just googling the CFW)
    4. You show off the included extra tyres in the video unboxing but make no reference to them or how easy they are to change.
    5. the link you did post to the gearbest shop for this scooter doesn't not show if the extra tyres are included, did you use this link or were you sent it for a review? other words do you know if the link provided will include the extra tyres?
    i do have some other questions, you sound European (sorry if incorrect) but were you charged any extra taxes from the shipping and is it likely to have any?
    How long was the shipping for you to receive the scooter?
    Would you recommend it as a daily city commuter vehicle over for example an electric bike taking cost in to consideration?

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, let me respond to some of your questions:
      1. A lot of folks are complaining of it... I was planning to make a second video about the parts that found online to reduce the creaking. Never happened so far :-) Parts used are from curiousjoe.se
      2. Will fix the link - here is his website - www.curiousjoe.se/
      3. facebook.com/groups/xiaomi.m365.electric.scooter/
      4. Tires are not easy to change. Require patience and a bit of strength. If you happen to try putting hard tires it is even worse and most people recomment micro-waving them in order to soften before installation.
      5. If you get the international versions, extra tires are included. if you get the chinese one - then no.
      I am European indeed. And at the time receiving the scooter it arrived from EU warehouse, which will imply no import taxes. Gearbest have a few locations across Europe and if they have it on stock, although a bit more expensive - that is perhaps the better option.
      I cannot recall how long the delivery took. Right now I have a friend waiting for his one, and it is ordered from the company that imports it (not gearbest) - and there is a waiting list for almost 2 months in advance...
      I use that one as a daily driver and totally enjoy riding it - maybe it changed the world of electric scooters.
      Feel free to post more questions if you have :-)

    Given your weight and height, I'd say the Pro version of this scooter would be better for you. I don't think it was out at the time you did this video, but it is now, and it's bigger, taller, stronger, and has a more powerful motor and more battery capacity...

      "it supports a maximum range of 30km when carrying a 75kg rider (15km/h uniform) which is great considering the size. And it only needs about 5 hours to fully charge - even faster than a smartphone. " - Just read that. Is that your experience as well?

      So another question: Does anyone have data on how many KWh per km?

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andreas,
      The charging time is around 5-6 hours.
      On average, a person like me - 188cm, 90kg (6.17 feet, 198 pounds) I get around 25km in eco mode and around 16-20 in regular mode. Depends a lot on how often you stop and start - this can drastically reduce the distance.
      As for Bird - I don't quite know how the locking works. Should be via their app, but I'd rather ask them directly.

    • @andreaslee506
      @andreaslee506 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man, sounds about the same as the numbers I found. I'm really curious to find out what the expected lifespan in km is though.. so if anyone has data on that I'd be very interested.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The usual life of these batteries is around 500-1000 cycles. And that all very much depends on how you charge, store and discharge them.
      There are some folks with 2000+ kilometers already. And knowing that the american company Bird is using them for scooter sharing means a lot.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some people have reached speeds up to 35km/h. It depends a lot on your weight and the terrain.
      In most countries in Europe it is forbidden to go above 25km/h (Sweden is no more than 20). I believe in the USA it should be below 18mph. And honestly - going that fast may be scary and a bit dangerous.

    • @AdamHelb
      @AdamHelb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      with reasonable settings in the Custom Firmware I max out at 19 mph (about 30 km/h) that with fully charged battery. More realistic is 18mph with most battery conditions. You could push the power settings in the firmware but you risk shortening the life of the drivetrain. Also safety on the scooter drops significantly as the speed is increased so I'm happy with the current speed limit.

    I have never been on a scooter of any kind so basic things are unknown to me.
    a. Do I need to have already an acquired balance "body knowledge" to get on there and start going (that is just like riding a bicycle)?
    b. I don't need fast speeding. How do I adjust the speed and keep myself in low values (~ 15 km/h)?
    c. I understand that I have to pull the brake to stop (stopping by putting your feet down is prohibited, right?). Is this like an instant process (the stopping one)?
    d. Do I have to buy a helmet or it is practically safe at low speeds?
    e. I can read about people complaining about flat tyres. Is it easy to find spare parts?
    f. What is the cruise control function? What does it do and why do I need it?
    Whoever knows pls answer. Too novice to know here.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, a few very good questions. Let me try to give some good answers:
      a. Yes - you will need to use your body balance. Not as difficult as riding a bike. Perhaps between a bike and a skateboard.
      b. Using the eco mode will keep you up to 18 km/h (and as a 90-kg person I usually get up to 15 km/h). Using the lever you can adjust the speed and you can run it at low values. The scooter has the feature for automatically maintained the speed, should you ride at the same speed for more than 5 seconds. It is a brilliant feature!
      c. You can stop by putting your feet down, however given the weight of the scooter, this is rather inconvenient and you may injure yourself. The time to completely stop depends on the speed. It is not only the rear brake - the scooter also uses the resistance of the electric motor and also the front wheel contributes to the process
      d. Yes, better have a helmet at any time! It is safer.
      e. spare parts are easy to find. Keep the tires at the right pressure level to reduce the risk of getting a flat tire. There already are plenty of hard-models, but they are not pleasant to ride - feels bumpier. But spare parts are easy to find. it is one of the most popular scooter models ever.
      f - the cruise control is the function desribed in "b". It allows you to maintain a certain speed for a prolonged period without having to press the lever. Perhaps my favorite feature :-)
      Hopefully these answers hep you a bit. Please - if there's anything else, do not hesitate to ask!
