GBO2 Ex-S Gundam: An overwhelming arsenal!

  • This video is a recent custom match I had with the LV1 Ex-S Gundam on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 650 cost shooting focused general with a vast armament that lets it practically fire constantly. It has some pretty big flaws though with a huge frame, no instant stagger resist, no instant stun without charging or stopping to fire and mediocre MA break ability. It is pretty helpless up close but has the tools to avoid being caught if you play it correctly. I think this video is a good showcase of how to effectively use its large amount of weapons and also how to avoid being caught by melee suits. I hope that you enjoy it!
    The primary weapon of the Ex-S Gundam is a beam smart gun with 700x4 (3800) power, 20%x4 (100%) heat, 1.5 seconds cooldown, 18 seconds overheat time, 0.77 seconds swap time, 400m (550m) range, 3 seconds focus time and 20%x4 (60% stagger value. Its damage is high on both charged and uncharged shots but its hard to stagger with uncharged alone. Charged shot fires a piercing stagger beam that can easily combo into your other weapons.
    Its primary weapon is a beam saber with 2500 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and standard melee modifiers. Its pretty hard to use this aggressively since your stuns either need charged or to stop to fire. It has a good moveset though for when you need to use it for self defence.
    Its first sub weapon is head vulcans with 100 power, 60 ammo, 450 RPM, 10 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap, 150m range, 750 DPS and 3% stagger value. These won't really stagger on their own and have low range. They are fine for finishing off enemies though if everything else is reloading.
    Its second sub weapon is shoulder beam cannons with 1300x2 power, 90% heat, 5 seconds cooldown, 20 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 400m range and 10%x2 stagger value. These have high heat and stop to fire but instant stagger. They are effective for comboing from a charged smart gun shot and then continuing the combo with other weapons.
    Its third sub weapon is thigh beam cannons with 650x2 power, 50% heat, 15 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap, 350m range and 18%x2 stagger value. These can stagger enemies without damage control or LV2/3 MA in three shots but are most effective for comboing from a stun for damage dumping.
    Its fourth sub weapon is a head incom with 1500x3 power, 50%x3 heat, 20 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap, 300m range and 10%x3 stagger value. These lock on and fire at the enemy. They have low stagger value but really good power.
    Its fifth sub weapon is a reflector incom with 2000 power, 100% heat, 22 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 350m range and 10% stagger value. This locks on like the head incom but instead fires a reflecting beam shot that can shoot around corners, walls or other obstacles. It is an instant stagger shot that can technically hit up to three times if fired at point blank range.
    Its first sub weapon in transformation mode is a beam smart gun with 450x4 (3800) power, 15%x4 (100%) heat, 1.3 seconds cooldown, 22 seconds overheat, 1 seconds swap, 500m (550m) range, 1 second focus time and 25%x4 (65%) stagger value. Uncharged shot is low power but can stagger in one burst. The charged shot pierces and instant staggers though with the same damage as the MS mode version.
    Its second sub weapon in transformation mode are shoulder beam cannons with 1000x2 power, 100% heat, 22 seconds overheat, 0.77 seconds swap time, 450m range and 25%x2 stagger value. These don't instant stagger and instantly overheat but can break MA in combination with a charged shot from the transformed smart gun.
    Its got great weapons but the skills are where it is let down. It has high 19500 HP and 34 in both ranged resistances but only 10 melee resist. This is pretty bad when you consider that it also has no MA and a huge size which makes it easy to bully by MS such as Rebawoo. Its skills are all fairly standard other than LV1 Chest i-Field which reduces damage by 50% and downgrades stagger by one stage when shot by beams in the chest area. Its other notable skill is the ALICE ability boost (activates at 30% HP) which grants +15 walking, +15 boosting speed, -50% thruster usage, +15 turning and LV2 Emergency Evasion. This doesn't offer stun immunity at the point of activation but makes avoiding shots and abusing cover easier.
    Overall I think that Ex-S is strong in some aspects but pretty flawed. The shooting is great but its very easy to be bullied, especially by transforming suits with melee capability which can chase you down. For a similar style of play I would recommend the ZZ Gundam instead. Its shooting isn't quite as damaging but its much more balanced in other areas.     I remember being super hyped when this MS initially released...
    However, like you say in your description this suit can get easily bullied especially up close. I really think they should consider buffing ALICE or maybe give it maneuver armor. Great showcase of the Ex-S! 💜👍

      I feel like it was easier when it first released. Now there are suits like buffed ZZ, Baund Doc, Delta Plus, ReZEL among others who can easily chase you down with their own transformation modes.

    My most used general unit at high costs. A better ALICE System (gives MA or expands I-field coverage and an earlier activation) or making the uncharged shot work like the support Xeku Eins could turn this into something scary.

      Yeah the uncharged shot is already decent stun value with 20%x4. So if they just raised that to 25%x4 then it would be a massive difference.

    Definitely flawed like you mentioned, but a whole all around fun suit to use in the right hands, definitely showed it's potential here and you had a great match up with more advantage to the Ex-S here not every match is that lucky either, some places i wish the power was increased on other weapons but i get why they limit it's potential back a bit this beast would tear the opposition up if it were to be buffed.

    this unit is a chunky guy but if you can keep your distance it decimates enemies quickly and easily

    I know it's not the best suit, but this was my first 700 cost unit, and so I loved it.
    I just don't play 700 anymore with the Unicorn meta just feeling boring, even having both it and the Banshee. But I bought the 650 at the DP store and still take it for a spin with the right team comp and map.
    The Auxiliary Generators are a must for this suit to keep up its barrage, and it does hit hard at far ranges and even around corners. The melee defense stat is sad, but it ends up playing somewhat like a support that just needs to dump out stuns. And the fact that your ranged defenses are great from the start, especially if you throw on +10 beam resistance, lets the suit do what it needs to do if your team is working with you well enough to understand that your a mid-liner most of the time and need a little protection from melee based suits.
    Buffs would be nice, even if they just added some nice buffer resistances to increase it's ability to survive, but I still don't think it's a bad pick at 650 when you have the right team and know how to use and build the suit. Perhaps more mobility would make sense, as it is supposed to be part of the suits lore that it's extremely agile, so some speed and turning could also be a huge boon.
    And I've even been using the same build as you since I first realized the generators helped so much when soloing boss fights. Though my 650 Zssa easily got me through this most recent one, lol.
    Thanks for the video. I'm always happy to see my favorite suits or learn to play suits I otherwise wouldn't use as I'm just not good or interested in them.
    Pale Rider VG anytime soon? It's a favorite of mine in 450, and sometimes 500, but my gameplay is all over the place with it and either I do great or awful. So maybe you know somethings about it I don't?

      Yeah aux gens are an absolute must for this unit considering how much of the guns overheat. So it it crucial to keep up DPS and stun output.
      I think buffs would definitely be a good idea but I am not sure what direction they would go in since I am pretty sure they already buffed it two or three times before.
      Pale Rider VG is definitely very strong. A trap I see most fall into is that they use the bazooka. The suit is best with the jager beam rifle so you can combo the uncharged burst into wrist beam gun for super easy stuns. You can basically spam super easy build stuns and ruin any raids day. The downswing is great as well. I am not sure if I will do a video on it soon since I have a huge backlog but I will maybe try if I see 450 up when I am on.

    I don't remember when I got this MS, but I do know I absolutely love its design. As for its kit, I didn't know its Reflector Incom (the one you need to stop to use) staggers on hit, until recently. Shame that its weapons are lackluster for its cost; not being able to stagger on demand is brutal at 650 and especially 700 cost.

      The reflector incom is kinda interesting. I have only did it a few times but you can get it to hit multiple times if you are close up and as it is reflecting off the incoms.

    i much prefer the unit theme songs over the dmc music you use lately. dont get me wrong i love dmc music its good. but something about seeing a unit with its OG theme is nice.

      Well I wouldn't really compare them directly since they are different classes and playstyles. Ex-S is basically just all shooting but MKV can do both melee and shooting. I think its best to learn both and you can play either depending on the map and team composition.
      And yeah it is the psycho frame part. It is useful for Ex-S because of the incoms.

    this suit is like the gm sniper ii (white dingo) but 650 cost with INCOMS and more beam weapons and transformation. If it was a support, it would be another delta gundam but with more weapons. A.L.I.C.E is supposed to be an A.I. controlling the suit, if that actually happens, it would be good as dead, the NPCs are weak in the simulators, how would it be in an online match.

      Game devs intentionally make NPCs flawed so players can have a chance. The an NPC could be programed to be a perfect aim bot.
