GBO2 Atlas Gundam (TB): Most OP suit since the Unicorn Gundam?!

  • This video contains two recent matches I had with the LV1 Atlas Gundam on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 600 cost general with two fast cooldown instant stuns, incredible ballistic damage, a high DPS sub weapon machine gun, two powerful melee weapons with high priority, a special weapon which disables flight/transformation and incredible mobility via its flight mode. Its only real weakness is mediocre stun accumulation and low HP, but it makes up for this with its incredible abilities in other areas and defensive buffers. This suit is broken as all hell and I recently decided to revisit it since my launch day video for it wasn't the best. Like last time, I am very thankful to go_already/Dark Sun for lending me his account to make this video. I hope that you enjoy watching!
Its primary weapon is a railgun with 2600 power, 3 ammo, 5.5 seconds cooldown, 13 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 500m range and 40% stagger value. This has low ammo, but very high damage and fast cooldown. It pierces as well, so you can do gigantic damage overall if you can pierce a few enemies with it. This serves as your typical combo starter.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2300 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time and 70% combo modifier. This has modest power but fast swap time and a fast downswing with good range. It is very easy to initiate with this, you often won't bother with two swings despite the combo modifier though.
Its first sub weapon is velos medusa with 200x8 power, 1 ammo, 10 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 150m range and 8%x8 stagger value. This disables enemy touchpad related flight/transformation skills for 6 seconds, making them return to normal mode once hit. This completely counters transforming and other flying suits, so abuse it when possible.
Its second sub weapon is a pair of beam sabers with 2600 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and 90%x2 downswing modifier. This has huge damage on downswings and great range, but the start-up speed is slower than your single saber. You can start and end combos with this if you feel confident.
Its third sub weapon is a machine gun with 200 power, 40 ammo, 450 RPM, 6 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 250m range, 1500 DPS and 4% stagger value. This has poor stagger accumulation but the DPS is pretty gigantic, on par with the Xeku Eins Type 3. You can basically delete any suit if you can dump this into them after a railgun shot, raids are practically instantly deleted.
Its fourth sub weapon is a machine gun attached grenade with 1000 power, 3 ammo, 5 seconds cooldown, 11 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 300m range and 40% stagger value. This has low damage but good splash radius and fast cooldown. You can use this to stagger the enemy twice in a row after a railgun shot.
The Atlas has 17500 HP, 20 ballistic/beam resist and 26 melee resist. It has mediocre HP and just ok ranged resistances, but a 30% shield buffer and 35% sub arms buffer makes it much more durable than expected. It is the only suit to naturally have LV3 Emergency Evasion at 600 cost, and it also has Maneuver Armor LV1.
It also has 135 (138 including ground affinity) walk speed, 225 boosting speed, 75 thrust and 78 (84 including ground affinity) turning speed. This is basically the highest mobility out of the 600 cost generals by itself, but it also has LV3 Forced Injectors and Flight Control to further increase the gap in mobility. It isn't just these skills however, since it also has LV1 Sub Legs Control System to fly like the Byarlants can. This buffs walking speed by 5 and turning speed by 10 and can be used underwater unlike other flight systems. This gives you instant stagger resistance as well, so you can use it to both gain stun resistance and a huge mobility advantage over opponents.
Overall I think that the Atlas Gundam is the most blatantly broken 600 cost suit right now. It makes the low ballistic resist raids at this cost like S Gundam and Geara Zulu EH useless, other raids aren't safe either. Transforming and flying suits are shut down by the velos medusa, and even if they weren't the Atlas Gundam has a far stronger kit than them. It has incredible stun power, incredible shooting DPS with ballistics, incredible mobility and even incredible melee damage. This is the type of suit that makes regularly balanced 600 costers useless in comparison, so I hope that the Atlas will be getting nerfs soon. It might be a start to nerf the velos medusa to 25 seconds reload and 100m range, 160 power on machine gun, medium melee priority, double saber 75%x2 downswing modifier, downgrade each buffer by one level and nerf the railgun/grenade launcher reload times to 15 seconds each. Thanks for watching, and I hope that you enjoyed it!

As an Atlas player, can confirm it is very balanced and should get DC1.
Real talk though, man this suit is so blatantly fucked up for no reason it has got to get nerfed. Hoping we see some big changes for it and some other suits (give regular ZZ DC1 since MPZZ had it).

600 cost felt like a pretty consistently balanced meta for most of the time ive played this game, including the fact that it has access to some really great supports and overall diversity of suits.
But the Atlas just pushes too hard on every aspect. The developers were obviously trying to be more accurate to the source material and how obviously busted of a suit it is there too, but it just oacks any sort of trade-off for all that power, like yhe Byarlant Custom being pretty fragile and requiring a ton of finesse to even get great results from.
This monster just took the abilties of a 700 units and toned the actual numbers on the stats down enough to be a 600, to fit with where you'd expect it to in lore.
It gets a better flight mode than most suits, the main weapon has ridiculous range and piercing without having anything less than slightly low ammo for the cost, and mobility is beyond just about any suit in the game when you factor in the ground suitable stat buggs it will always have.
I think lowering the buffers and dialing back all the mobility on this would go a long way into making it more of a paper cannon. The shield never breaks since uts not actually a shield, but it does actually cut down a ton of damage from many angles, often covering much of the suit's body and legs, better positioned than most actual shields. It becomes more of a help than a hunderance to its hitbox, which just feels absurd with how it tend to stop a lot more damage than the shield buffers on suits like the Jagd Dogas, which have much smaller shields that don't even block as well when they're rarely activated I-fields are supposed to be on (thise I-fields should probably stretch quite a bit further, BB).
The Atlas hasn't totally destroyed the meta, thanks to the diversity of strong suits at 600 and quite a lot being decent at breaking MA from various burst-fire weapons, but that's not much of an excuse to let the Atlas having its biggest flaw being the lack of slots to both optimize high defenses or near-max thrust, but just one and most of the other.

I dont think i have actively hated fighting a unit as much as atlas. I still love 600 cost but the recent additions make it annoying. (S Gundam and atlas haunt me and i own both). Hoping the next 600 isnt somehow worse than these 2.

Honestly, it feels weird how the 650 four-stars like Narrative Gundam and Xeku Zwei (I don't own Delta Kai) often lean harder on the more situational/gimmicky side, yet 600 gets a four-star general that would fit right in home in 650 or even maybe 700 cost. I'm not exactly good with Atlas myself (or really flight suits in general if they don't turn into an aircraft), but the advantages it has with both ranged and melee are just nonsense to the point it can be a menace against a support if a good enough pilot wants to.
I definitely agree on it at least needing the ranged side of its kit nerfed (lessen the damage and range of the railgun, reduce the grenade launcher's ammo to 1 so it can't just stunlock suits without MA with such frequency, increase the reload of both like you mentioned, etc).

  • @lexmen1089

Lets all be honest, that railgun's damage is so criminal when "big zeon guntank" APFSD does way more than this💀
"it can fire 3 more times in 5 seconds each shot" my ass, that hoe was sending Z'goks back to the material realms like nothing.
edit: as a victim over at PC of the Atlas Wrath, and now formely a veteran with like a year now of experience. I want to apologize.

Nu Gundam does but thats at 700 cost. Byarlant Custom does but only with the LV2 version and up, starting at 650 cost. So the Atlas is the only one with LV3 Emergency Evasion for a 600 coster, other than when S Gundam activates ALICE.

TBH MPZZ is op as well but might be more blatant than Atlas. MPZZ is easier to play and get good results with, and it can shotgun down Atlas players if they aren't paying attention. But I think Atlas at its peak is a bit stronger.

Look man, is it annoying? With its free flight and movement no other MS is capable of, multiple stuns, overtuned melee, and somehow never getting stunned when it feels like it should? Yes Am I salty they gave it a button to essentially take away other MS' flight ability? Yes Is it also utterly vexxing when those big, awkward ski arms block or body block half my own shots when the thing is on my team? Yes. Do I personally consider it one of the MS that's single handedly made its cost range less fun? Yes. Am I also salty I didn't get it? Yes.
But its ok, I know people were looking forward to it so I'm happy they got it. Would I have preferred for it to stay in manga pages rather than soak up half my shots in this game? Yes, but it's fine.
