Great video from a wonderful channel. Art books have provided me a much-needed escape from real life. I have my easy chair set up with a desk, a lamp, a blanket and a cup of coffee. I spent many hours with dragons, unicorns, space battles, pixies, knights, and now with my National Geographic books, the vast undersea world of the coral reefs. My art books are the best investments I ever made. My 3 favorite books are: - Wonderworks by Michael Whelan - Infinite Worlds by Vincent DiFate - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson

Your videos are so helpful and informative as well as your cheat sheets!!! I would love to have a copy of your hamburger cheat sheet, please and thank you!
Looking forward to the collage series! This was a great video! A great reminder as to the hamburger method and products to use! Excited that I know the difference between gesso and ground now! Thanks for sharing!
I'm watching this series from start to finish! Thank you so much for inspiring me to try my hand at mixed media. I have a question for you. I have a stack of temporary tattoos that I'd like to add to my collages. Do you have anything on how to do this? Or have you ever used them?
Great! Happy to help! I don't know why that wouldn't work but the best way to know is to try it out! I bet at the very least it'd be super fun and you'd learn a lot too!
This is such a great, informative video, you are simply the best. One of the first things I purchased when I began to art journal after following a you tuber called Vicky was Gelatos. I followed her video and the results were pretty good. Then I began to use them in other projects and boy they were sticky so and so's, so they stayed in my tin for about 3 years and I stressed over not using them. Then one day I thought well I'm not going to use them so get rid of them, and I did, it's the best thing I did because I don't see them now so I don't stress over them. (Sorry for the long explanation) I just wanted to say you are so right about getting rid of stuff you know you don't like and won't ever use. We need more of this kind of video, down to earth, full of information - and the truth about products, which you give in abundance. Tfs xo
We hold on to so much that we don't need, and then we feel bad about not using it. You totally get it, Elizabeth! Thank you for your support, I love having you as a part of this community!
I can't wait for the collage videos! I love when you show us products because it always reminds me I have gelato that I need to play with! Lol I have so many art supplies that's I forget about them. Thank you for the videos and the reminders, lol! Enjoy your weekend!😀
Hi, you can get Mod Podge in the UK. I got some from Hobbycraft end of July 2021 so it’s around. I suspect if hobbycraft sell it so will other companies. For anyone looking it was in the glue section, not with the paint and Matt medium type stuff.
Looking forward to your collage vid Karen, I only found out a few weeks ago that the word collage actually means (to stick together) well I never knew that ☺️☺️ another great video, stay safe from the UK 😁😁👍🏻
I typically use colored pencils on TOP of watercolors, pastels and over other dry mediums. They sort of get lost in mixed media as they make fine lines and don’t stand out very much. You can draw with them though, over acrylic paints but again, as soon as you layer anything over them, they very easily get covered up but as long as the layer under them is dry, you can use them at any time!
Thank you so much for supporting my book, Darlene!!! That fashion era was so inspiring for me, I'm so happy you are enjoying the new book! You stay safe too!
Thanks so much for all the stuff you have on you tube. I have enjoyed all of it! Love the Pitt pens!. Then I started looking for the Gelatos you talked about. They are on clearance at Micheals right now. 12 sticks for $5.00!!! Even though you said they last a long time, I bought 2 of each. Can't wait to use them! Thanks again, Have an inspired day!
I know this is an older video and it may have been suggested already, but instead of the stabilo pencil, you can use inktense pencils or blocks. When you went them, and then they dry, they are permanent :)
This is awesome! I am new to art journaling and working in my first altered book and got to a point of using paint and mod podge and thought hmmmm maybe I should learn what to do...you have answered all my thoughts and questions. So excited to get back to it. I would love the hamburger pdf. Thank you so much!

Hi Karen, came across your TH-cam channel a few days ago ………… WOW you create some really interesting pieces. This video about your “hamburger” method is really informative and so helpful for a beginner, like me 😊. So would really appreciate a copy of your printout to help me along. Thank you for all your information. 💖
Ebay is a great place to buy those Sharpie markers. I buy a lot of my art supplies on Ebay, I usually find the lowest price for an item on there. Walmart.com has been surprisingly good for fine art supplies also. Free shipping on a lot of items too.
Wonderful video. Thank you so much. There are so many wonderful products that one does not know where to begin. I knew about some products, learned about some new ones and finally understand what "medium means. Ha Ha! P.S. I'd love to get a copy of your hamburger cheat sheet.
Let us all have a moment of silence for the Large Pitt Pens and the water based Sharpies! OMG I use them all of the time. The Sharpie in white is superior to the Podcast! I'm going to be on the hunt at Walgreens. Thanks Karen for teaching me how to draw. You're the best teacher 💖❣💝

Hi, thank you for your videos. I am a beginner. Made a mix media on wood and would like to add a resin finish to it. I have been using matte media to glue my papers on it. Should I seal everything with mod lodge before resin? If so which of all Mod lodges should I use? Thank you again for all your videos and your help!
@@claudiaguzman6092 I’m not really sure as I haven’t tried it, I’m sorry! I usually just go for it, but that’s just me! If you want to be sure you can test it first so you won’t have any surprises. But Resin had a way of just encapsulating everything, sooooo fun!
I love oil pastels!!! But unfortunately they can only be the TOP layer of any mixed media project since you can put them under any acrylics or waterbased anything. I would keep them to a loose leaf sheet or canvas as the drying time for this is so long it would likely get super mucked up in an journal as soon as you close it. Sealers are available but those too would need to be oil based and can remain tacky for quite some time. All of those traits are fine in canvas but make art journaling with them difficult (same is true with oil based paint pens even). So for art journaling I’d steer clear - you may find yourself with more of a mess situation than a masterpiece I’m afraid ❤️
In your videos you talk about the importance of lightfast supplies sometimes (in comparison to other supply choices for example), but I'd been told that Modge Podge yellows over time, and it seems to be a big part of the process you use. Yes! I’ve heard that as well but so far haven’t actually seen it on any of my projects that are now as much as a decade old? If you are worried about it (for a gift item, etc) then definitely reach for a fine art product instead!!
Karen do u find that the stauthmore journals lay flat enough for you? I usually use a spiral bc it’s easier to work w but I like the bound look better.
