    This review is the best I've seen for this scooter. Thank you so much for this. Seeing this really reveals some of the downsides in either build quality of some design faults that weren't mentioned in other reviews. I hope the people who make this scooter see this review you made so their version 2 will fix these issues :).

    Hej Ralph, good job ! You mentioned that sealing from the rain could be better; is there a problem with the water/rainproof in this scooter ? For me it is one of crucial things.

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Pawel, yes - there is a problem. With the mantis you have to seal the scooter yourself with some sort of sealing. if you do not the scooter will get damaged in the rain.

    This was very helpful and detailed. I am trying to decide between this model and Zero 10x. Also wondering what the downside, if any, would be to order them directly from AliExpress vs a local retailer.

    I weigh 200lbs. Would the scooter still work very well for me? Would I lose a ton of speed? You mentioned the suspension might bottom out on a 220lb person in the comments. The scooters info says it can handle over 300lbs. Just curious. Thanks!
    I want the mantis but may get the horizon instead bc of money. Do you know if the horizon would work for me? I'm 200lbs

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You dont loose much speed from weight if at all, it just accelerates slower depending on your weight. The mantis can bottom out with almost any weight because it is really soft but you dont have to force it, not a big problem at your weight. Still it would feel better with a little stiffer suspension.
      If you mean the Fluid Freeride Horizon i cant tell you if it is a better choice but the (dual Motor) Mantis is definitely a whole lot more fun to ride.

      I am sorry - i had the single on the shelf a long time and then sold it. was a bit dissappointed to be honest. Not because it is a bad scooter in general but i did not like its behaviour (in short: 500W Version has good torque, low top speed, no Ebrake, bad brakes and better ones dont fit, acceptable range, flaws like the bigger brother, the one i sold had a dead controller after 300km).

      @@ralfhalbknapp1104 thx for your impression. I asked because I have a single motor on the way. Sadly it's taking 3 month to arrive. It's a fully hydraulic brake model, so I'm expecting good brakes. Not caring about top speed. Thx again!

    So this scooter is not waterproof? I want to sell my X365 PRO and buy this, but looks really only for sunny days :D. Mudguards are short and water can go into controler. Perfect video! Clear and well explained!
    I have a question you may know the answer to due to your experience!
    Today the brake lamps (blinking inner lamps) on my mantis just stoped. I have opened up the battery compartment, all cables are attached. Everything else working fine and seems ok.
    Cable pack at top seems intact all contacts are attached! Both left and right brake tested, brake lights not reacting. Controller compartment is checked but nothing seems detached.
    The static red back lights works. Only blinking brake does not work! Any suggestions? Can both inner lamps have gone broken at the same time?

    • @leanne3191
      @leanne3191 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      they say its a common issue, and kaboo is already shipping the replacements

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Answer is simple. In one of the sides behind the side light is a green shrink wrap part with electronics in it. This is the electronics that does the blinking of brake lights and there is a 100 Ohm smd resistor on it that dies ;-) replacing it with a bigger resistor (1/2W or more) helps. I will make a video about it

  • @newbie101
    @newbie101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you said , it's not good when it rains?? do you mean, riding in the rain will shorts the electronics? I never heard of this problem with the Zero 10X? Thanks for your reviews.

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I mean the electronic is vulnerable.
      I think this is because Zero 10X is better waterproofed than Kaabo Mantis.

  • @raduanghel5105
    @raduanghel5105 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review, thanks for the patience to go in detail through all the issues.
    Regarding the stem + handlebar issue - isn't it possible to replace both with aftermarket ones, thus solving both problems (unreachable recessed screws and non-standard handlebar diameter) ?
    If the steerer (that's the vertical rod to which the stem is attached) has a standard diameter (usually 1 1/8 inch), this should be achievable.

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried that and been asked very often. So far i did not find aftermarket parts to replace this. There are alternative Handlebars and thats it. Everything on the mantis is somehow different sized then on a bike or a Dualtron... I guess with time there will be aftermarket parts.

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Miguel, somehow you could sure manage it but it is not worth the effort because the rim of the Mantis is not built for tubeless. The rim is made to be separated in the middle for easier tire change but this means it is not airtight and getting it to be so is not easy. So it is possible but much more effort then you would wish

    • @ralfhalbknapp1104
      @ralfhalbknapp1104  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is possible but i would not see fit. The road tires are good if you go offroad once in a while and if you really want to drive offroad very much get a different Scooter like the Wolf Warrior or a Dualtron Ultra or any other big ass 11" Scooter. The Mantis can do this a little but is still more suited for the street.

      I did this already (3 to 1 Charger adapter) but am afraid to post because if someone without knowledge does it he may fry the scooter (ok, maybe not because it is all protected) but this is dangerous nonetheless. By the way if you would connect it wrong like you mentioned you would get a 114,4V Charger (67,2Vx2) that still charges with 2A and will not instantly fry the battery or charge any faster but would not stop charging and therefore overload the battery (the bms should cut out and save the battery but better not try)

      Not sure what you mean but that is my only channel so far. I will however make newer videos with better audio quality and help from my wife behind the camera so you can hear my disruptive voice better =D

      Dualtron 3 and Mantis are both really great. It depends on what things you prefer.
