Brotha from New York City, just grew & harvested a good amount of turnips. That means I a great bunch of turnip greens Cleaned them up and is currently stored away in the freezer box for the winter. Thank you for the recipe. My roots are from North Carolina. I like my greens nice and soft, no crunch.

I’ve never had turnip greens before this.. I am from the laurel mountains of Pennsylvania and I’ve never had anyone around me cook them. I did grow turnips in the garden this year and didn’t want to waste the greens and I watched your video and made this for dinner. Omg it is to die for! My husband and I gobbled it up! Thank you soooo much for the recipe!!

Add baking soda to the LAST WASH. Let the greens sit in that soda water for no more than 5 mins. This was the B.S. taste doesn't interfere with the turnip greens. Great video

Baking soda is an old old school tip for those that don't like that bitter turnip bite. But my family is from the red dirt country in Tennessee so we love home grown harvested turnip greens from the dirt, that you hand pickoff the stems and clean... Not that store brought or bagged stuff or collard greens. Give the real real. We eat the turnip roop in them as well. 😋

I've watched the video a few times, read the recipe a bunch, read over ALL the reviews and replies on TH-cam, and still cannot find when you put "the vinegar" in that makes the baking soda fizz, or how much you added to the pot. This looks amazing and I am gonna try it without vinegar (first time making turnip greens) and hope for the best. Every one of your recipes I've tried has become a family favorite!!

Great recipe! I prefer collard greens, but I can definitely eat turnip greens. I love smoked turkey in greens, but I've only tried wings, not drumsticks.
I think that the hot sauce would be good! I like hot sauce on my greens when I eat them, so it makes sense to add them in while cooking.
I like my greens nice and soft as well! Great minds think a like.
    Another great and entertaining recipe!

Lmao at crunchy greens 🤣🤣 Also, I remember one time when I was in my 20's, (41 now) I cooked a pot of greens with the works in them.. Pickled pig tails and smoked bacon crumbles w/ cornbread and some steamed rice. (In new Orleans, we eat cabbage and greens over rice.. Well chile, I cooked like 3 bags of those triple washed ones and didn't know that I was supposed to wash them again and when it was time to serve, there was a dead wasp, sand, and all kinds of dirt and grit in every bite 🤣🤣🤣 I was so hurt and embarrassed

I agree with you it is a southern thing because outside of the South the greens are crunchy and I don't understand why people don't cook them down. And you cook greens the way my mother taught me she always use smoked turkey legs and smoked turkey wings because my father did not eat pork. People have no idea how good it is until they try it because all they've ever put in there a big honkin pieces fatback or something.
