If you know how a system works you know how to test it and therefore can fix it. A lack of understanding and laziness breeds parts changers and scan and go merchants. If a vehicle is booked into my garage for a diagnostic test. That’s exactly what it gets. TESTING. Top work as always fella 👍

@@derekmorgan4895 my go to is my Autel ms909 as a general tool. Lots of good tools available. I suppose your budget has a big bearing on things but launch, topdon,Autel and thinkcar all very good products. Data systems are a must as well a variety of test lights/bulbs for load testing. A decent multimeter and a scope of some kind. Even a one channel level entry scope is better than none at all. Lastly but the most important thing in my opinion is training. Have attended many courses that include diagnostic and master tech at technical topics in bridgewater whom I can’t recommend highly enough. So much so that I’m currently in Lanzarote on holiday and I’m attending one of the day after I fly back 😂 hth

Surely this video is evidence of the fraud by the main dealer. They claim to be experts and that legally carries an extremely high bar that the customer can expect from them. The fact that a 1 man independent mobile mechanic, accurately diagnosed and fixed the problem on video, in a car park of all places, proves that the dealer was incompetent at best and fraudulent at worst. Either way, he should be demanding his money back from the dealer on this basis alone in my opinion. Clearly they are either not experts and are incompetent or they are deliberately overcharging! Which is it do you think?

@@Bigtbuilder Pretty much is reality. Some main dealers have their own training centres, very different from the old city and guilds type training. Jimmy and others like him have likely had full hands on training and, I'd say , more importantly experience in both diagnosis and fixing. Parts replacers are simply fixing the symptom in many cases. I know some great mechanics and it's their practical knowledge, due to experience, to deal with all things that can go wrong, rounded ruts etc. That only comes with being in the thick of it. Dealers are purely about the numbers, the money.

So it’s no wonder that these so called “modern apprenticeships” produce “parts swappers” not diagnostic fault finders.

Wondering if I could please ask you advice. Two people have now told me that vivaros are bad vans, would you agree with this? If not what would be the year and millage you'd suggest would be a decent van to purchase for converting into a camper.
Theres some reasonably priced options around 50k/60k miles, and obviously cheaper again at 80k. The difficulty is I could waste money getting something really low millege and then take longer to convert it or i could save money getting higher mileage then it could be a waste as I'd be paying for repairs.
Any tips would be really appreciated.

Hi I have a mercedes vito 2019 taxi. Goes into limp mode, no eml on or anything, changed nox sensor and o2 sensor, dpf seems fine. Any ideas what it could be. Also notice blue smoke now n again when idling at lights.

Hello O' Riley you might be the man I'm looking for, my vauxhall vivaro has been having these issues for 6 months I've spent well over £1600 on DPF cleans and oil changes. How can I get in contact with you?

Hi ,i dropped a van into a garage with DPF problems. They said it was fixed ,drove it for a few days ,oil light came on ,pulled over ,dipped for oil not a drain of oil on the dipstick, phoned garage and asked if they checked for oil and they said know ,so basically they let a 4 year old renualt traffic out with dpf problems and not checking engine for oil ,is this normal or is the garage playing dumb here ?

It's good practice to check the oil level but if it's not part of the job not everyone will. It is the owners responsibility to check oil and coolant levels daily

@@cornishcat11 Of course, not everyone, but many customers simply do not tell the truth after their „TH-cam repairs”, Maybe I'm unlucky, but most cases have already visited several workshops and then they ask for repairs
