That air filter is a view for non mechanics into our world. Folk drive stuff into the ground then complain and expect us to sort the mess caused by been a tight a**e. Anyway, I've done this for 30 years now Jimmy, all in the safety of a shop with a lift and all the tools, you have my total respect for doing the same job on the roadside, top man.
Correct mate I just did the same for twenty of years never again .Good luck to u Jimmy. Hope when Ur my age that u won't be crippled with ages and pains.
No way in hell that can got a new engine weeks ago, the air filter tells me that the owner hasn't spent a £1 on this van, people tell the craziest stories to alleviate themselves of any possibility it is them who could be at fault.
Another great video Jimmy. If he has just had a new engine, you would have thought they might have gone to the expense of fitting a new air filter. Well stuck at and hopefully he got home ok 👍🏼
That DPF reminded me of the schoolboy practical joke of stuffing potatoes up exhaust pipes. The air filter reminded me of the one I found in my 2010 BMW diesel that I bought last year that had a "full service history". 🤣
Full service history means jack nowadays-no way is that a new block , the bloke is in cuckoo land , Jimmy isn’t stupid at all as you can tell he’s very careful with his words but reading in between the lines I think the jury’s out on this one ………
Never seen anything run perfect with a blocked air filter. If that's a new engine or had a reconditioned fitted I'll eat my hat. Things never been serviced in its life. But could be wrong. People who do like myself do high mileage I change all my filters once a month on all my vehicles. And use red x once a month never have any problems. Great information videos keep them coming 👍
We had a VW Transporter like this 2 weeks ago, Took 2 hours to get it to run properly again, it was so bad, that it had melted the DPF pressure sensor and burnt a hole in it, the good news is the VW is still running now and all is good, took us 2 cleans to get it good,
Check the turbo hose had the same problem had a small crack in the rubber coupler. After a new rubber and dpf cleaner spray and fuel additive everything cleared car drives like new with lots more torque
Hi Jimmy, had a similar problem dpf & cat blocking on a 2.2 diesel after engine rebuild, someone had left the old injector washers in also fitted new ones, I removed the set that had been left in cured the problem 👍
Unbelievable how blocked that thing is! My guess as well, if O’riley can’t fix it. It needs replacing lol. But as always, 10/10 diagnoses and got the van to a state to at least limp home!
I’d say someone seriously neglected the maintenance on that engine. Clogged air filter is a sign someone scrimped on looking after the engine, I mean an air filter is cheap to buy and if they can’t be bothered to change that, I doubt they’ve done anything else to the engine like put ad blue in, changed oil, new glow plugs etc
Hi Jimmy had a real stubborn one last week on a transit 2.2 .tried liquid moly and jlm in the applicator not much success then put off car wynns cleaner neat in and came down after 2 attempts .only £24.00 for 5 litres as well !
Had the same thing with one of these the other day it had a split in the flexi pipe and was able to clean it straight away and get it started. Then they replaced the flexi pipe for a second hand one and then it blew a hole in that one aswell😂 managed to get it flushed and cleaned down to about 11mbar 👍🏽
This could be a symptom of serious injector failure. The codes for injector trim out of range won't show up in the standard EOBD trouble codes, you need FORscan to get them out. I wouldn't be surprised if there were one or two injectors that are just stuck open and flooding the DPF with fuel. Best case it would remain in the filter and turn to soot, worst case it would be in a situation of permanent regen which would melt it solid. So before fitting a new DPF I'd check if those injectors are still good (the mileage is pretty suspect), because otherwise you'd immediately destroy a new DPF as the root cause of it was not addressed.
My guess would be either dpf melted during regen and caused it to cut out or injectors are spewing fuel in, same result either way. Cant win them all jimmy, just hipe you still got paid for the work 🙌
After months of frustration, I injected caustic soda to clean out the carbon followed by hydrochloric acid to clean out the ash (putting a bowl at the end of the exhaust to catch the debris) with GREAT success.
Can almost guarantee that turbo impeller is flapping around . Very common on the ecoblues. Intake air flow code can set with a lazy throttle plate- Throttle bodies go on em too, although looking at that air filter element😂 that dpf back pressure though 😮
Why was the engine replaced? Did the customer say. Turbo maybe, something filled the DPF up to start with. Probably the air filter played a part - could have caused over fuelling. Vehicles run forever without servicing 😜
The one I owned had a sticky throttle which blew the turbo, dumped a load of oil into exhuast system and wrote the vehicle off. I'd never buy another 2.0 Ford again!
Had their money's worth out of the air filter . Seemed to be a fair amount of duct tape in the engine bay as well . If you're running a vehicle to feed your family you'd maybe look after it a wee bit better
Well I'm guessing the new 10k engine is still sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. Outside the air filter, all the dust and grime on the pipes tells me nobody touched that engine in a while. That or he got scammed hard by some dodgy mechanic.

I love how Jimmy meets 90% of his customers in a dodgy lay-by or side road😂
The air filter was also brand new 10 minutes before it 'just' conked out
No way in hell that can got a new engine weeks ago, the air filter tells me that the owner hasn't spent a £1 on this van, people tell the craziest stories to alleviate themselves of any possibility it is them who could be at fault.
Too embarassed to tell the truth.
Another great video Jimmy.

My thoughts exactly. I didn't go much on the look of the oil either; £10K for a new engine...seems excessive given the state of it.
Yes he made it home
That DPF reminded me of the schoolboy practical joke of stuffing potatoes up exhaust pipes.

The DPF the best invension ever hahaha .biggest load of shite ever.

Paid for a new engine but they transferred the old oil and filter.

I've seen a few of these euro 6 2 litre Transits that have got dead DPFs, i think its going to get more common.
Unbelievable how blocked that thing is!

I second that line of thought... Something not adding up
@@thindoI’ll 3rd that 👍🏼
Isn't that usually where broke down vehicles end up lol. He's a mobile breakdown unit
Impressive , love the "noooo" when it died 😁
Based on the air filter, it suggests the new engine didn’t stand a chance - you’d think that would have been checked along with other service basics.
Hi Jimmy had a real stubborn one last week on a transit 2.2 .tried liquid moly and jlm in the applicator not much success then put off car wynns cleaner neat in and came down after 2 attempts .only £24.00 for 5 litres as well !
does wynes off car cleaner foam up with the compresser guns
yes it does@@cw2126

If the guy recently paid £10.000 for that engine he was scammed as the air filter alone says everything.
You could pick up a full van for less 😂
No warning lights before hand either ???? Nah
Something seriously doesn't add up 🤔
@@ORileysAutos Porky Pies is my guess 😂
A few lies being told by the owner I think.
First thing i do is look at the air filter when I buy a car or van if you see things like that then run away .
DPF KING 👍👍🔥🔥🚗🚗
After months of frustration, I injected caustic soda to clean out the carbon followed by hydrochloric acid to clean out the ash (putting a bowl at the end of the exhaust to catch the debris) with GREAT success.
Thanks Jimmy excellent u the Main man,, 💯
Could you put a bottle of Wynns PDF cleaner in a tank of diesel every now and again as a preventative for keeping you PDF clean Jimmy?
The fly tipping will have to wait now
Top man 👍
Good video unlucky result

Diagnostics should of told you how long the engine light was on for or freeze frame data on the fault codes
Good job 👍
What's the idea of that bit of fabric stuff glued onto the paper flutes?
Why was the engine replaced? Did the customer say. Turbo maybe, something filled the DPF up to start with. Probably the air filter played a part - could have caused over fuelling. Vehicles run forever without servicing 😜
Replacing a whole engine just because of a bad turbo that can be fixed for around a grand?
😊 nice work
it said 492 miles until no start on the dash , its had a problem for a few hundred miles at least .
Does remove dog and clean up mainly make any difference?
Yes it is better
@O'Rilieys does the DPF have a service / cleaning interval and are you able to do wet belt replacements on this engine?
10k and they didn't change the air filter.
£10,000 for new engine very recently, it indeed of a major service....Air filter was a cracker for a supposedly new engine lol
Have yougot anything in the Milton Keynes area.
Only Biggleswade
was that van ever serviced?
dpf has collapsed, disconnect the exhaust before and it'll run like a champ
My thoughts too. Just disconnect the dpf and reconnect for MOT 🤣
Angle grinder
Another advantage is that people will hear you coming from 2 miles away.
@@Stoney3K bro it don’t make it that loud
If its had an engine it wont be new. its a second hand one with many issues that clearly wasnt looked after.
Before you said it had £10k spent, all i was thinking was it's a badly maintained van
10k for new engine? After looking at that it was bought unseen!
Notting worse breaking down on d side of the road stranded well done jimmy at least he won’t need to get towed to the garage
Ove fueling due to blocked air filter

Sounds like a not so honest customer 😮
Amazes me how some people will do No yearly maintenance on their vehicles then moan when things go wrong.
I think it was a £100 engine and £9,900 labour charge
One careful owner me thinks.
10k new engine 😂 the air filter was changed yesterday honest
Is their a silencer/muffler after the dpf , and could it be possible that is blocked?
£10k and it’s got duct tape holding it together? I’m sure a brand new engine is only like £7-8k from ford
did his nose get bigger , the more he spoke to you jimmy 🙄🙄🤣🤣
10k for a new engine?? Bro just buy a used box van that works for 10k! Probs find one with less miles as well lol
Exactly
And avoid buying a Ford
@@Dan23_7 honestly yes when it comes to the new fords. Old Ford’s, bullet proof! And if you can’t shell out for a sprinter, Old Ford is the way!
Yeahhh zero regular maintanance and it just stalls?? How strange.....
That engine sounds crackered, was knocking like a crack head after a fix!!!!

10 grand for an engine he was ripped off propper, the oil was like tar air filter blocked dpf solid Oh deary me
£10,000 for a knackered engine, they saw him coming.
6554 hPa 🤣
Ten k engine on a 5k van
spends 10k on an engine. Can't be bothered to change his air filter 🤷♂
Bet the old engine destroyed the DPF.
Mk8 transits are rubbish even ford dealers say they are the worst transit ever
It had a good battery 🤣
Ripped off £10k for an engine for a 2.0 panther pile of junk.
Jimmy 10k me ⚽️ ox
New secondhand engine maybe 😂
10k engine for a 5k van is a 2 dollar wh*re with a 4 dollar haircut 💇♀️
