@@TimothyS84 yea. I think the jsb .177 10gn might work in a low power air rifle. But you would get any expansion or the benefits of shooting slugs. Since the speed would be really slow. Sub 600 fps
So the Maximus is seeming pretty hard to load higher grain slugs. The JSB 16.43gr load fine but the NSA 15gr have to be forced in. Is there any mods that need to be made to make them load easier? Thanks.
When pushing slugs at slow velocities it also effects the spin rate, slower being worse. Pair that with a very low twist rate of air rifle barrel and it could end up reducing accuracy by shooting slugs over pellets. The difference between air rifle pellets and slugs doesn't really show up until you are beyond 50 yards. Inside 50 to 60 yards or so pellets can be more accurate than slugs. Also barrel twist has a lot to do with it. Most air rifles have such a slow twist rate when you try to push long slugs the spin is just to slow.
I believe mine was making 30 foot pounds with the 25gn NSA slugs. So maybe 740 fps with the 25gn slugs. It should be producing 32 foot pounds with pellets.
