have been running the 10gr Zans out of my Brocock since they released them , used to use makos and while they were indeed very accurate - they were just too damn expensive, have switched up to the 13gr zans now and they are just amazing - just a few days ago i decided to push them out as far as i could and got an inch and a half 5 shot group at 100 yards ( gun is sub 12 ft lb )
Tidy shooting in the wind mate, not an easy thing to do on any day of the week, thoroughly enjoyed the education mate, Best Regards, Jon 👍 Hawkes eye TV 👍
Finally got my anschutz 8002 S2 back from upgrading. Now shooting 12ftlb and working on a shroud much like yours. Now hoping the barrel will be good at the higher levels
Thats easier said than done in deteriorating conditions mate, im experimenting with alternate ammo each shot, like the military do when testing in wind.but I've a few things to figure out yet on that. I've shot tons of heavies though in all manner of weather the zans pretty much matched them to my eye in that sort of wind, yet done it at 10.5 ftlb.
I bought a new (to me) rifle in a .177. After running 20 or so different pellets and slugs thru it, the 13gr Zan's were one hole at 25 yards. Using these for pesting here in Eastern Oregon, USA, this past week, these small squirrels have been getting pelleted out to 79 yards with very clean head shots. Now my question to you is; Do you or did you polish the breech/leade for better pellet/slug entrance?
Thanks for another interesting video,I have the pro hunter slugs in.22 17.8 grn for my hw110 haven't tried them yet hopefully will get down the farm at the weekend and give them a good test.Have you had any issues with your katran I've seen a few people mention magazine issues and I think a few.22 owner's are having problems with the anti double load system, thanks 👍
Hi mate, my katran has been great so far. I've had to strip the fill valve twice now though, but that's really my fault as I filled it with crud filling by hand pump. The magazine issues have mainly been the krait and airmaks have even been brave enough to do a public acknowledgement of it(that's rare in itself) and are working on a fix for it. I'm very fond of the katran, and like anything mechanical there will be failures. But for them to publicly say yeah its not right but give us a chance to sort it,says alot about their commitment and integrity as a company. I will do a proper review on mine soon, now I've had it 7 months I'm able to give a proper appraisal of it. I should say,I have no connection to the company and paid for the katran and don't have to sell it to fund my next yt review😉
@@tillysgunstocks yeah you can't ask for more than that honesty goes a long way, shame brk brocock couldn't do the same thing, can't wait for katran review
Hhi tilley ive been running zans in 25 and fac since they came out, i lube mine with imperial sizing die wax makes a world of difference, from 2 in group to true 1 hole group, after ab 30 fouling shots, on clean barrels

I did have a good look at the slugs in the backboard, there was no obvious signs they went in eccentric, I think it was the wind whipping the card off the backboard a bit that had it torn up. The wind was really getting up at the end.
Another great video, and more great shooting. Have you tried the slugs from Pro hunter swaging? I've recently bought some of their .22 17.5gn slugs, to use in my BSA sub12 rifle. They are looking promising, might be worth you giving them a look. Also I bought the same case that you are holding your slugs/pellets in, is there any chance you could laser cut some foam for me? Thanks 👍🏻 😊
Hi Adam. I'm trying to convince my wife to cut a batch of foams out,but she's pretty busy with work of late, but I will get some made up as soon as possible. I wouldnt mind trying them slugs tbh. I'll work my way through all of them in time, hopefully on a calmer day so I can push them out to over 50m.
These ones were a sample tin from ihunter. Currently 12.99 for a box of 400 or you can get sample packs for a few quid. I'll definitely be getting a few more boxes as I want to push these out to 75yds in calm conditions through a few of my other barrels. Given just how savage and unpredictable that wind was during testing I'm happy with the performance.
I've tried with and without various lubes. So far results are inconclusive. I've been finding much better gains with the way they are loaded. I'll cover this in some upcoming videos 😉
The shape of the bsa loading probe is pretty good at getting the slugs loading concentric in the bore. Quite alot of the bsa models will shoot slugs to an acceptable degree of accuracy 😉
Wonder if you followed the work that Matt Dubber, FX Guns, and Patriot did with firing slugs. They found they needed to change rifling for the slug and the choke had to use a different method. With the weights and shapes and barrel they could shoot extremely accurately in .22 out to 200 yards while being able to fight the wind. Fortunately they said that as slug makers automate their process and use of slugs picks up, the prices will come down in price. I''m saving money to get the FX Impact M3 with botha .22 pellet and slug barrels.
I'm a big lover of the Zan slugs, I use them in 22 FX Impact M3 push the 23gn at 1053 fps and the are on the money perfect for pest control
Bought some of these zan slugs to try in my Ixia compact, only tried them at 10 yards but they are shot on shot!

Can Tillys Gunstocks or anyone else tell me where to get the pellet/slug box used in this video, please?
Nicely done young man. Do you reckon that the wind could have made the slugs start to de stabilise ?

My gamo coyote is spot on with these
Quite a few BSA barrels seem to do ok with the slugs. I'd like to try a long'ish chokeless BSA barrel with them myself 😉
When it rips the paper, it is tumbling...FACT.
where do you get them ZAN slugs?
yes, 12.99 is ok

Damn mate, they should be around 13quid for 400 in the smaller calibres. The larger calibres are ofcourse more expensive
The h and n ones are good
I've got the 13gn here to test eventually, I'm also trying to get hold of the new 10gn versions that have just been released. 😉
Are you lubricating the slugs to reduce the friction from the bearing surface?
I've tried with and without various lubes. So far results are inconclusive. I've been finding much better gains with the way they are loaded. I'll cover this in some upcoming videos 😉
I can achieve a decent group with these in a sub 12 BSA R10 and are only a dot to the left of my normal zero @ 40 yards

"The price of slugs to come down "... don't hold your breath bud 😉
Im paying £19 for 400, where the hell you getting yours from.
12quid odd for the 10gn .177 from ihunter in the uk currently mate. The larger cals and higher weighed ones are ofcourse more expensive though
@@tillysgunstocks just an add on, they shoot laser accurate out to 65 yards out of my sub 12 NSA ultra se. Dont use anything else.
