But in The End of Time, he states that his age is 906, whereas here he says that it's 904. It make you wonder, how much of 10's life did he spend running away, alone, hiding from death? The character himself couldn't have been anything older than about 6, as the 9th doctor says that he is 900. It really makes his regeneration scene that much more meaningful when you think about it.

In this scene I realised Moffat never quite got or liked ten. every time he wrote for him he made sure to give him a different love interest to portray him as a intergalactic playboy as opposed to rtd's writing of him as a tortured burden carrier. He also wrote him as the 'dim' one in the 50th against Matt's 'eccentric genius' one and war doctors grizzled vetrean one. Ten just seemed 'off' for the whole episode to me. and Moffat had to get in his little ego digs, making sure ten states his age as 904 here which means the entire rtd era took place almost real time over 4 years while simultaneously making sure that Matt's doctor lasted for thousands of years. All of which doesn't seem to matter, it's David's doctor that seems to overshadow the others in popular mainstream culture the way that tom baker did the same for the rest of the shows original run after he quit, so it seems Moffat is still jealous of this.
so agree with you, can't help but feel that Moffat constantly tries to make his characters from the show more important and relevant to the DW universe than RTD's characters. Making the 11th doctor's life over 1000 years longer seems like a way to try and dwarf what came before Moffat. God I really miss DW before Moffat -_-

Tennent's run is easily the best of the new series, and there's a wonderful charm to the slightly janky writing of the RTD era. I really don't know what happened to Moffat. He went from writing two of the best episodes of New Who, one of which (Blink) I would argue is in the running for best Who episode ever, and then he started playing up mythic nonsense. I'll agree here that Moffat doesn't quite get 10: he plays him up as wacky, like 11, whereas 10 had an air of casual brilliance about him, and was actually less wacky than 11 (although he was quite wacky, in a Baker-esque sort of way). Tennent's acting mostly saves it, though.
