I really could have used a full season of 14, the more I think of it. Imagine it - a season where The Doctor's breakdown happens as a slower burn, you get to watch him crack as time goes on, ultimately leading to his confrontation with the Toymaker that breaks him and results in the bigeneration. It would have been perfect.
Part of me feels that was the plan originally. But Tennant was only available for 3 episodes, since he's a very in demand actor now. It would have been epic though if they did do that though.
I want to say it was not Jodie Whittaker s fault as an actress the creative team changed when she became the doctor I believe if it was the same creative team Jodie's doctor would be respected by the fans

I feel like Russel really misunderstood what was so brilliant about Donna. Her empathy. While similar, the 60th version seems to be much more of a "wowie, look at how totally badass she is! Isn't it great?"
I'm still annoyed that we never got an explanation as to how the Doctor's costume changed with the Thirteenth Doctor's regeneration. The costume split between the two Doctors of the bigeneration I can sort of understand, but even the clothes worn on the newer incarnation didn't change.
@@adamstewart9052 there was no reason for the "in universe" the producers even said they didn't want David to be made fun of in Jodies clothing and that it could offend viewers. That's my favorite part of the 15's sonic, actually. Within the context of use in NuWho, especially in how it interacts with various pieces of technology, the sonic has basically evolved into a sort of alien universal remote. A redesign explicitly leaning towards that direction has been a LONG time coming. Unfortunately, I don't expect that design convention to stick; I reckon the next sonic will immediately regress to a more traditional profile.
@@secretasianman108 I mean I don't necessarily see it as a regression. The screwdriver is a universal remote, yes, but it's a remote for things that aren't meant to be controlled. Making it seem more flashy and commercialized is like if stores started selling burglars custom made tools for breaking and entering. A sonic screwdriver will always be a somewhat illicit thing, and it should definitely feel more like a tool than a convenience item

20:25 this scene gave us all we missed in the chibnall era so badly. I hope rtd brings back 13 in a multi doctor episode to show us what Jodie is capable with good writing
Best of all three episodes. Count ‘em. All T H R E E. I liked having Tennant back and the 60th but with distance it’s honestly aging like this really weird, obscure little dot in Doctor Who’s history. You’ve already had Tennant stans crying for him since Ncuti came in (ala Matt Smith) - but you may as well as have brought him back for a full series or something. Felt a little rushed on the whole - when the concurrent doctor was 14 for all of about 20 hours in canon, it’s just a bit odd. Like the whole ‘you’re tired doc’ that admittedly doesn’t just kind of come out of nowhere in the giggle. Him and Donna are great, I even like the idea of him settling with her - but going from 13, who I didn’t like, with a very optimistic regeneration also seems really strange. Maybe I’m wrong, but essentially, the specials should’ve either been one story across three episodes - or the a limited actual series before 15.
I'm honestly kinda wondering how much these episodes were written before 13's regeneration was told to RTD, cuz the fact that Yaz wasn't mentioned once, the fact that the support group wasn't mentioned, the fact that one of the most uplifting regenerations led to such a depressing vibe for the specials until the very end, it's really strange. Like, there's a support group out there for companions of the doctor he left behind, and there is just a Doctor out there who is staying mostly earthbound and trying to find himself and cope with the trauma. If anything, he's almost like a companion right now, left behind by himself. I really think 14 should go to that support group
Yeah, it's become a mess trying to figure out what the writing is even trying to do anymore. Each of the previous Doctors we've had in Nu-Who felt like they had some overarching theme defining them as part of the Doctor's 'lifecycle' going from soldier to wannabe-hero to sad veteran and finally to Jodie who's Doctor seemed to revolve around acceptance. Each regeneration felt like it 'set the tone' for what the next Doctor was going to be like and what the 'theme' of their tenure would be. I didn't really enjoy/watch Jodie's era but I watched her regeneration and it was nice seeing a Doctor just happily accept the regeneration and go into the future more optimistic and carefree so for it to suddenly result in this bizarre, short-term trip into depression was the worst kind of whiplash. Honestly they may as well have not brought Tennant back at all because right now it feels like a really, *really* cheap ploy to try and win back the audience they willingly chased away and they did so at the expense of their own writing. If I ever decide to rewatch Doctor Who I'll probably skip their entire span of episodes because they'll feel so out-of-place and rushed.
@@GARGANTUANMASKEDFISH I didn't get the impression that Thirteen managed to accept anything; frankly, I didn't get the impression that Thirteen *had* much of an arc due to bad writing, and Covid related issues. She never really worked through all the *major* trauma Chibnall gave her (or the trauma she inherited from 12 - remember, 12 almost refused to regenerate because he was so sick of everything). She just hid from them emotionally and denied there was anything wrong until an even bigger traumatic event turned up and started the cycle over again. It wasn't Jodie's fault, she performed what she was given well and I think she'd have been really good at portraying the Doctor working through that trauma properly, but she was never given the opportunity. By the end of her arc (such as it is) she'd just about accepted that those things had happened and was willing to admit them to herself, but she hadn't got any further than that. In my experience, that's an important step in working through a traumatic event or revelation, but you also need to accept that it's affected you and you're suffering as a consequence, and spend time thinking through the implications of what you've experienced, and cry on someone's shoulder. For a long while you'll find that random little things remind you of the trauma and bring it all back. It takes years before you're fully recovered, and accepting that it's happened is only the very beginning of that process. Thirteen didn't do any of that, since she only accepted what had happened at all near the end of her story; going into her regeneration with a bittersweet optimism doesn't substitute for that. The point of 14 was to allow the Doctor to go through that process without RTD having to turn Ncuti's whole arc into processing what 13 had gone through. 14's mini-arc was about him accepting that the traumatic things weren't just true, but that they were affecting him badly and he needed to take time out to process it. He hadn't stopped running, and by now he was running on fumes. The episodes reinforce that - going straight from one crisis to another, snatching moments for conversation while hiding from monsters, the Toymaker playing on his vulnerability to the traumatic events in his past, and he just keeps running until he runs out of options and gets shot just a few hours after his regeneration. Only then, with persuasion from his friends and reassurance from his future self, does he finally agree to stop running and take time out to process everything. The bi-generation then allows that retirement to happen offscreen, without having a big time skip. You can see this in 15's attitude, even from the first scene in his first episode, where he casually talks about being "adopted". That wasn't the way that 13 and 14 were talking about the Timeless Child. He talks about the Time Lords being dead, not flippantly, but as something he's come to terms with. Contrast that with 9, 10 or 11, or even 12. He doesn't hide behind insults and avoid saying what he means like 12. He even talks casually about Susan! Which previous Doctor *ever* did that? These are all things that he's now at peace with, in a way which 13 never had the chance to reach. On a personal level, those episodes were one reason I accepted that I needed to speak to a doctor about my own depression, and take some time out - I recognised myself in 14's arc. Maybe that's why I find those episodes particularly powerful.
Donna: "Are you ok?" 14: "I will be" Donna: "when?" 14: "... a million years" Donna: _in her head_ "so, like, a really long time" 14: _being absolutely and completely literal_

Donna: Whats gonna gone wrong... *spils coffe on TARDIS*
Me: You had to jinx it do you?
Also Donna: EAU MAI GAWD, I'VE DONE IT AGAIIIIN!
I actually really enjoyed seeing Tennant playing the 14th Doctor. It made me happy 😌 seeing him play another version of his character. Even if the first special wasn't my favorite. 😊
3 words. Sandshoes and Granddad!
Yes ✋🏻 definitely 💯.
12:25 I’m 90% sure the Tardis exploded on purpose. Donna looks like she spilled the coffee on purpose, and there’s about half a second before things start going wrong. I like to think the Tardis went “yeah that’s funny, here I’ll help”
Honestly this whole video could have just been him seeing Wilf again and it would have still been the best moment.
Ten/Fourteen and Donna are by far the best Doctor and companion duo. They're truly like siblings. I'm so glad they brought her back. ❤
You could say that David Tennant was... Absolutely Fantastic.
Fourteen's run started with a game of tag and ended with a game of catch. Funny.
Makes sense his final boss is a God of games then! Brought in by a game, sent home by a game.
I want to say it was not Jodie Whittaker s fault as an actress the creative team changed when she became the doctor I believe if it was the same creative team Jodie's doctor would be respected by the fans
“Do you come in a range of colors?”
“Yes.”
Okay, I like him.
Matt smith and David tenant, were elite in doctor who
Aswell as 2nd 3rd 4th 1st 5th 7th 9th 6th 8th due to American take
Unfortunately only one of them got a competent showrunner
I like that guy who came before them too
Lol. Matt Smith was way too broody for me
Capaldi too, even if he focused on the pain and regret a lot more.
I love that even Tennant is confused why a Jukebox is literally the only difference inside of the Tardis
Like the entire interior is exactly the same but a Jukebox has now magically spawned for no specific reason
imma say that next time someone annoys me. just straight faced "my arms are too long." or when someone mentions going to get food. "oh we get hungry dont we" i love the doctor.
also having listened to the audio book of the 10th doctor story and watching this just makes me smile.
"Could you pull?"
Nice profile pic 😁
"Not falling for that again. The TARDIS doesn't have proper ventilation!"
Honestly? I would have been fine with David Tennant playing the Doctor again for a few more years 😀
Technically, he's still here. Just not forefront at the moment.
He’s so going to be in one of the Disney+ spin off Doctor Who shows
Crazy that his "Best Of" is over 1/6th of his runtime. Like if we made a "Best of the 8th Doctor" and it was over 15 minutes long.
Since the 14th Doctor has only 3 episodes pretty much all his episodes are the best moments lol 😂
1:48 I KNOW THESE TEETH OMG THEY REFERENCED THE LINEE
Even tho he only got 3 hours. It was the best dam 3 hours of doctor who in a long time for me
I want smith back too😭😭😭😭. I love them both so much ❤
Maybe one day, Remember what the Curator said in time we may see some of the old favorites.
@@Husker_XIIIOr he has which doesn't necessarily mean it'll be depicted on-screen at some point.
Qute a few key moments missed, Fourteen striding out of the Tardis for the first time walking like Crowley. XD
Exactly! Seen it too.
Thought I was the only one who noticed that 😂
I feel like Russel really misunderstood what was so brilliant about Donna. Her empathy.
While similar, the 60th version seems to be much more of a "wowie, look at how totally badass she is! Isn't it great?"
RTD deserves some flack but this is just silly. She gave away her entire lottery winnings to charity subconciously
Hmm. So while I was out of the room, David Tennant became the Grover Cleveland of Doctors. Innnteresting.
bro really pulled a guess whos back, back again
The Not-things are my favorite Who Monsters, cause I love their concept, something made of nothing

I'm still annoyed that we never got an explanation as to how the Doctor's costume changed with the Thirteenth Doctor's regeneration. The costume split between the two Doctors of the bigeneration I can sort of understand, but even the clothes worn on the newer incarnation didn't change.
it was literally because they didn't want people to make fun of Tennant wearing Jodies clothes
@@revivingsoonYou should have known they meant in-universe.
@@adamstewart9052 there was no reason for the "in universe" the producers even said they didn't want David to be made fun of in Jodies clothing and that it could offend viewers. So you're telling me that everyone bats an eye with bi regeneration where both doctors have parts of the originals clothes but they are more confused by clothes manifesting after regeneration....yeah I understand but really it's nothing deep
Didn't Sacha's Master wear Jodie's outfit in the previous episode? Oh please...
the first doctor changes clothes when he regenerated
On a tangent, I wish that Fourteen's sonic screwdriver went on to Fifteen; it was a sweet design. The new sonic looks like a gimmicky TV remote.
I always find it hilarious that the tardis, even an old one, one of the most advanced vehicles in the universe, will still catch on fire after having some tea spilled on it 😂
The greatest doctor!
David Tennant is lovely! Absolutely a favorite.
I love how Moffat is always bringing back David and keeping him as a different entity. So there's like different Doctors existing but not being the Doctor. Although, I'd say that this is one of the few times where he is still the Doctor because he keeps his TARDIS.
the best of the fourteenth doctor is almost as long as the specials themselves
I burst out laughing the first time I heard 'OMG I DID IT AGAIN!'
They should've just kept him for an entire season as a palate cleanser and to give the show time to find its feet again. No idea what they were thinking ditching him after a couple of episodes.
I do hope he shows up again at some point! Even if people are sick of tennant 😂
why would people be sick of tennent?
@@Ragnorok657 What propaganda? The UNIT laser cannon being real?

Donna and the Doctor are absolutely the best duo ❤
When I saw the regeneration into the 14th, I too said "WHAT?!" In the exact tone as David
The Meep seemed so cute for a minute!
Poor Tardis.... Every time without a doubt she ends up in.... someway.... in flames.... The Tardis is the true victim in Doctor who...
I can't wait for David to return in the 70th anniversary 😕

Human coffee + gallifreyan technology = emergency landing with a kick
Will you guys consider Tom Cavanagh as the 16th Doctor?
He is a very good actor. Take his CW Flash performances into consideration.
Can't wait for the Fourteenth Doctor Movies!!!
We need a full series following The Doctor and Donna and it should be called exactly that
"Donna!"
"I'm already running!"
12:25 seriously the best moment tbh
Me when I realized the actor for the 14th doctor was in the Harry Potter movies as Barty Crouch Jr 😮😮😮😮🔥🔥🔥
There’s still hope for him to come back. Imagine the stories they could tell. Meta crisis doctor return? 14 meets Meta crisis doctor?
I think David shouldn’t come back, unless he was returning with other doctors
Donna TOTALLY spilt that coffee ☕ on PURPOSE
We had the hint in the Day of the Doctor that the Doctor may revisit some old faces (the Curator) so maybe when DT regenerates this time he'll go backwards through the faces of the previous regenerations.

It’s a really minor detail but I don’t like how the doctors clothes changed during the regeneration I kind of like the look of ill fitting clothes on the new doctors
I like it. A straight man in women's clothing? Just no.
20:25 this scene gave us all we missed in the chibnall era so badly. I hope rtd brings back 13 in a multi doctor episode to show us what Jodie is capable with good writing
Pretty sure the Tardis loves it when the doctor regenerates inside.
Not even two minutes after getting the new version of the tardis and she's already on fire and exploding
AND STILL GOING OFF ON THAT HAND BRAKE!!!!
If David Tennant can can return as the doctor. I'm very sure Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi can return as well.

Remember when Who didn't suck? Pepperidge Farm remembers😮
Donna: "Are you ok?"

14: "... a million years"

the doctor vs the toymaker was the best part of the 60th

Out of three you've managed to pull out half a clock of 14 just for his best moments. Goes to show how splendid a performance Tennant leaves. He'll forever be my number 1 Doctor of all time. Wait... Better say favourite because... You get it... Tennant is the best.
I mean... the doctor did get the equivalent of "having his batteries jump-started" back in "The Time of the Doctor". Plus, he's the timeless child. Regeneration shennanigans were bound to happen eventually
