Some of the old school Asians that came over on the boats back then had fought over there in the wars, sometimes with CIA and US special forces. They were a different breed. They grew up dirt poor much worse than any ghetto in the US and were as tough as nails.

Speaking of Koreans, not long before this story, there was the another incident where two Koreans killed and wrapped their enemy in sheets, then threw him down the laundry chute in LA county. If there’s multiple versions I gotta wonder how many are myths, how many are exaggerated, etc. It seems like the kind of thing that actually happened once, then went through the game of “telephone” constantly being passed around word-of-mouth with every new storyteller adding their own details to make a better story.
I don’t doubt it happened but I’d bet some parts is just literal legend

Respect the authentic NYC underground street culture,it has its own underworld culture mythos ,this is the NY Chinese thug chapter,I'm 42 yo from Brooklyn and group up in Flatbush/Coney Island neighborhoods in the late 1980s and early 1990s,a rough era in the NYC,while in junior high I use to know this big stocky Polo(Ralph Lauren) dressing Chinese kid who use to always mention in the lunch cafeteria about his connections to the flying dragons in China Town Mott street, now this is the golden age of hip hop and he was a hip asian cat, than my second encounter about the flying dragons was in the Bronx with Detective Hung NYPD he assisted the security guards at one of the Bldg's were working at in the BX off of Gun Hill Road, the guards liked Hung because he treated us well,Detective Hung was a big husky Chinese ogee plainclothes and he owned a slew of vending businesses via his connections to Italian Mob,so we liked Detective Hung for his conversations and the free soda's and chips he would always give us,in one conversation Detective Hung NYPD would tell us stories about his policing that part of the North Bronx, and would say that one of the gangs put a gun to his head while in some police skirmish out there, and than Hung allegedly told the gun man that he'd better kill him because if he doesn't he's going to do him in allegedly, all facts and than Detective Hung in the same Convo mentions his families connection to the Flying Dragons fromManhattan. If detective Hung wasn't a cop he could of been good bodyguard,he was one of the biggest asian cats I ever seen with a black mustache and alot of hair, peace to the Flying Dragon Older heads I enjoyed those chips and soda's.Confirmed my step pops just said that the grasshopper story is the real deal and that they can walk on walls, been hearing about this stuff for years, glad it's being told...
