This was dope. Never expected to have the privilege of hearing Big Head speak on Grasshopper in C74. I’m writing this post while walking down Mott Street. Just picked up a bottle of Tiger Bone. On my way to the dumpling spot.
Thanks for sharing. I'm a Puerto Rican born raised in the bronx and Im very intrigued by these stories of the 70s 80s and 90s.
I’m also Puertorican and appreciate these stories. I was always down on Canal copping jewelry, and these Chinese gangsters’ hood blended into LES. From Confucius tower to Ft Smith PJs to Rutgers on up to JRiis and Baruch, Chinese peeps mix and move with us all. Real NYC experience
Thank you big brother for real stories.
Thanks! for another great video!
Thank you very much for supporting this channel. More content coming soon.
More from this guy and more war stories my dude. Cool video
Thanks, we have plenty of Bighead's videos on this channel, check them out. For videos in Cantonese, English subtitles are available under "CC".
You should do these conversations in Cantonese n subtitle them, the flow would be greater. When someone speaks in their native tongue, they usually have a greater vocabulary within that language, therefore able to give more precise information in a faster way.
Love the history your recording
Much respect
Let bighead speak in Cantonese then add English subtitles. Better flow in story telling
I agree
He’s got a way of telling stories and he’s better at that with his mother tongue
I would definitely subscribe to his channel if he had one
His English is fine. I understand it.
Wǒ tóngy….. Gung Hay Fat Choy 🍊🍊
Wow, we need a grasshopper interview ASAP!
Need to make a movie about this guy
Big head is a cool guy. seems down to earth and kind. The kind of guy you have a beer and some fried food with.
i dunno, hes done his fair share of business. maybe now hes not dangerous anymore, but back in the days...
people like him probably dont like hangin out with strangers
These stories are fascinating and I am reassured that my cantonese isn't as bad as I thought it was.
We need a grasshopper interview.
He’s back in bong kong
What a fantastic story. I would love to know where Grasshopper learnt his Hung Kuen and Iron palm. what lineage etc. That stuff takes years to learn so he must of been on it a long time.
Tung On (aka Ching Yin) was the last MAJOR gang after the Shadow and Dragon around 75's. Tiger and his boy Jeff/company was running around Division street at that time. Dice (aka Sic Jie Hung) was part of On Leung back in the early 70's with Nicky and his group. Then Dice started Tung On in the mid 70's. If I recall correctly, I think Dice and Taiwan have a nightclub called Sam Bo in midtown. Dragon has a nightclub in Queen called Four Ocean. That is what I recall when I was around.
Correct, back then if someone picking on me . I was told by my uncle ( Dice Hung ) is my big brother. If there issues miss inform tell them come see my uncle. Mott street (Tong).
@@davdmoi Sounds like we are in the same period. I was hanging from 75-83.... so know the people and stories well....
@@hunggar398 . I was not involve any of the group . But my brother is and he’s good most of members in the early 70’s with G S and Dice Hung. And my uncle Mott street business alliances. I only kid running free on the street. Don’t know shit happens.
@@hunggar398 . My brother had close ties with members from Chicago. That all I remember.
My father told me this story. Back in the late 70's The GS need help with a street war. NY On Leong contacted Boston On Leong to send the Boston GS. Yes. Boston CT had GS. After GS won. The Boston GS came back to Boston and found a new gang took over Boston Chinatown. It was the Ping On.
more grasshopper stories please
All these stories brings back many high school memories. Was not in any group or gang but personally feared all of them gangs back in the day. We all had the hair-dos & clothing that can be mistaken of identities. Had the fear to walk certain Chinatown streets as we all knew who ran them. But , glad to see & hear these guys became nice guys afterwards. 👍
Spike hairs, pointy shoes and black outfits?😂
@@peteryeung111 Leather jacket. Everyone had a black leather jacket.
Watch carefully. Do you see the bracelet on his right wrist? I remember when all of the guys wore those.
@@peteryeung111 spiky hair yes, black members only jackets & white capezios. Remember those bro? Everyone basically wore this fashion back then whether you’re one of them or just a “wanabee “ as they would call you, especially, if you happen to look fuckin “cheun”😂😂.
Yeah every gang had their own signature fashion style! FD wore strictly jeans and sneakers! Ghost Shadows wore all black, dyed their tails gold, and wore black shoes (not sure what they were called back then but similar to the modern driving shoes they have today). Or they would wear those cheap ass "skippies" that either came in black or white!
Grasshopper is a nyc jail legend 🤣🤣🤣 facts really put on
He’s probably the baddest dude ever on the island
@@brianfitzpatrick9949 No not even close
Who’s badder ?

I can only imagine how good his seven star praying mantis , eagle claw, tiger claw, Crain bill I bet he was crazy with it.....the way he being described sounds like he was a modern day priest pai mei the white lotus chief
Are there any west coast OG's y'all can interview? I'm sure it'll be interesting, and from what I remember Cliff Wong & Tiger boy made trips to the west coast also correct?
Most of them passed away.
Hung kuen and Xing Yi Quan are strong as hell and deep lineaged styles so I believe the stories of Grasshopper whooping ass lol.
Love that rainbow Daytona on his wrist

Respect to og jimmy tsui
Apologies if this is seen as disrespectful, but given that both Kenny and Jimmy have spoken about C74 I'd like to ask: Notorious B.I.G. spoke about being in C74 about this time. Is there any truth to this? Have any of your frequent collaborators met any other NY figures (e.g. Cormega) in the incarceration system there? It could be a good topic. Thanks Michael!
These are good questions to bring up the next time they go LIVE.
@@chinatowngangstories brother! You got me addicted to your channel bro very good content! Would love to meet and chop it up! I know you new alpo and fat cat Nichols!
Definitely needs to get a Grasshopper interview.

Thanks for talking in english. I don't speak cantonese at all.
The movie with Donnie yen “kung fu jungle” was inspired by grasshopper!
Pare young told a similar story that took place in the cdcr.
A lot of people study martial arts. But the martial arts school is not a racketeer influenced corrupt organization. Martial arts schools teach mutual respect, righteousness, and filial piety.
It’s also a safe haven avoiding handing on the street. Most of institutions instructor master had some ties to the organizations (Tong). If you mention right master within the group they might leave you along. Worst situation you go back call your master he will go to gang leader tell them leave you along. Because you not part of any gangs group.
Most of the kids at the martial arts schools were gangbangers or wannabes from what I remember.
@@lazuris311 I am Not. Which martial art schools can you mention?. Were you in here around the early 70’s ?. I still can remember many of those schools I practice. I remember respect disciplines before combat only if you need self defense.
@@davdmoi Agree with you. There a few guys from the street that go up to the club to learn so they can at least fight in the street...but overall, I agree with you. The biggest school at that time was WCM Hung Kuen, Fu Jow Pai, 7 Star praying Mantis, CLF, Eagle claw and then white crane. Those are the major club I am familiar with....
@@hunggar398 I went 2 schools out of the group. Hangout with some of big boys . That time only a kid . But I was good clean young boy. Just doing my natural teenage growing up. Did got beaten up for miss identity wrong person. Then my brother took care the rest.
Grasshopper !
Is there a movie about grasshopper
Hello! this is Bill Minerr from Brooklyn nyc... I was on the island in 1989 when grasshoppers and Lee banged up the roit squad in C-74. it wasn't just grasshopper it was 2 of them and we use to call the other one Lee... facts! maybe you and I can work together. I have a music project dropping soon the end of next month called Project- BandiiT. plus I'm finishing up a movie I'm writing. let me know!
Email us. Thx
I was on the Island in 1984 and that Story was already out.
what with the nickname grasshopper thou ? so funny
@@sdqsdq6274 Maybe because of their leg strength? Or maybe he was lean and could dole out a beating?
@@sdqsdq6274 It was from the movie Karate Kid.
the way he said riot squad, white squad
Question - how old were a lot of these dudes when they moved to the US? reason I’m asking is a lot of the guys still have a strong accent even though they did a lot of time in American prisons. This is not a disrespect just asking out of curiosity
I used to live with Chinese Indonesians who came to L.A. in 1997, and I suspect it depends on the age. The 6 and 9 year old had no accent as they got older. The 15 year old, (he’s 40+ today, I think) still has an accent.
Sorry for off-topic...
Has anyone know what's the difference between Wah Ching and Fuk Ching ?
Hopefully someone can answer.
Thanks a lot.
Happy new year.
Wah Ching is a gang from the west coast. Fuk Ching originated here in NYC.
@@chinatowngangstories thanks a lot, sorry again for off topic
Happy New Year!
make a movie on Grasshopper..
is Grasshopper teaching martial arts these days and if so, can we look him up? thanks
Real Chinese martial arts that works is rarely taught to outsiders, that's why one of the few instances of you hearing it work is with a triad guy.
@@QuangNguyen-it3ub lol people think chinese martial art is fake , a dude just need to train super hard on it , and be freaking strong and plus right technique
I think China Mac was also in C74.
I have a question, did Bighead also do martial arts? It seems a lot of NY Chinese gangs were involved with martial arts. Here in LA, it is different. Thanks.
Yes
Can you talk about the cemetery killings

Easy to say when you’re not the one doing the subtitles that could take weeks for a 40 minute clip.
Bighead is a gang boss?
He started out as an associate with the Tung On Gang, then he got initiated into the gang as a street soldier protecting the gambling parlors and eventually became a Dai Ma then a Dai Lo.
What about praying manthis😂
Wow he wont be winning many beauty competitions
After this video there will be a new gang called "the rice squad"
