    I thought these were brilliant in the arcades when I was a kid, the cabinets were quite big and had additional screens so other people could watch you play.
    I wouldn't have been able to imagine then, a future playing such a game on a handheld device like this now 👍

      Could you imagine Zelda Wind Waker or Breath of the Wild, where saturday morning cartoon graphics are generated on the fly with full control of the main character and the ability to travel anywhere you can see??

    I requested this video. This is awesome. The RG350 has so many possibilities. Looking for the 20th Anniversary DVD set. I don't see that many on eBay at the moment. Looking forward to play Dragon's Lair and Space Ace after so many years. It might take a while to find a good deal on the DVD's. Thanks again Wagner!!!

      Very Welcome! Not sure if you saw this, so going to make sure. Check out the links below the first two paragraphs in this section for a used copy on Amazon: wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Daphne I purchased my copy on ebay several years back but I think I paid more ~$50-60 for it. At the time, I wanted it for RetroPie. Anyways, check it out and see if it's of interest to you. I couldn't locate a source cheaper, but only spent about 10-15min. looking around.

    Daphne is a pain in the butt to get working, and there are better systems that the console supports that don't require much to add. Much respect to this guy for trying. The RG350 simply isn't the best retro device for anyone not used to DOS, cmd, all that stuff. It should be simple.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree, it is a PITA to setup. But, if you want to play -it is possible. I have played Space Ace quite a bit since this video and I do love having it on my RG-350. Took me days to figure all this stuff out and why I made the video, so you don't have to waste time on things that don't work (all the commands are on the webpage, mostly what is needed is simple copy/paste - it shouldn't be too hard wagnerstechtalk.com/rg350tips/#Daphne ) . Hope this helps and thank you for watching!

    Great tutorial! I have did all the steps you showed and everything came out good except where do I put the daphne.opk on a rg351p running 351elec 1.0.8?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      These instructions are for the RG350, .opk's won't install on EmuElec (which is what the rg351p is running).
      However, I'll have detailed instructions soon here's something that will get it running: Everything you did is fine for the file conversion. However, EmuElec isn't what you'll want to run, instead on a new microSD install ArkOS (Keep your original, DO NOT USE FOR THIS: See Download Links for RG351p towards the bottom here: github.com/christianhaitian/arkos/wiki ). After installed, go to the /EASYROMS partition and in the /daphne sub folder copy your ace.daphne & lair.daphne folders to the root of the /daphne sub folder. Copy/Move the ace.zip and lair.zip files into the /daphne/roms sub folder. Re-insert the microSD into the RG351p and daphne should show up. SELECT=Insert Coin (press a couple of times, you need x2 registered), START=to start the game, LEFT STICK to move and A is your sword button. SELECT+START to exit. This should get you going, works on my RG351M. Video and instructions forthcoming!

    Hello, I tried to convert the game exactly as described. However, I ran into a few problems:
    1. I have an RG350M - could this be a problem because the description is for the original RG350?
    2. Unfortunately, the FFmpeg download link is currently not working. I downloaded an analogous (hopefully) ffmpeg 4.3.1 Win 64 package from this site: www.videohelp.com/software/ffmpeg.
    3. During Command 1 I have a disturbing message in yellow font:
    [mpeg2video @ 000001797653a240] too many threads / slices (16), reducing to 15
    [mpeg @ 00000179764aaa40] VBV buffer size not set, using default size of 230KB
    If you want the mpeg file to be compliant to some specification
    Like DVD, VCD or others, make sure you set the correct buffer size
    Output # 0, mpeg, to 'lair.mpg':
    But the video conversion is realized.
    4. I download the lair.zip file from this website: uptobox.com/v2hftt7poq2u
    After copying all files to my SD card and trying to start the game on the RG350M, I get the error message: "ROM CRC checked failed for dl_f2_u1.bin, expected ... Press Y.".
    After pressing START I have another error: "ROM CRC checked failed for dl_f2_u2.bin, expected ... Press Y." And so a total of 4 times. Then comes "Press Y to parse video. This may take a while." I click START - the progress bar shows the progress of the conversion. The first video screen from the start sequence appears for a moment on a white background, then only a black screen and nothing happens. Another launch of the game - same 4 errors and black screen.
    I have a physical Dragon's Lair 20th Anniversary Special Edition DVD and there were no problems with the initial conversion described in the first part of the description.
    Any ideas what I can do in this situation? Does this method just work on the RG350M? Did I download the wrong lair.zip file? Or maybe there is a ready package somewhere in the network after complete conversion?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about the lair.zip, the link above can't be accessed from the US. All I can say is yes the same files generated by this method do work fine on the RG350M (I even demo Space Ace in my RG350M video: th-cam.com/video/YDMbJaWntI8/w-d-xo.html ). I documented it all on the RG350 tips page as I was doing it and tested the procedure twice. Must have something to do with the lair.zip or something not entered correctly during the conversion.

    • @maciejwronski
      @maciejwronski 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WagnersTechTalk There is success! I determined that the problem was indeed in the lair.zip file. The description lacks important information that it is about finding a file that contains MAME ROMS, namely the files: dl_f2_u1.bin, dl_f2_u2.bin, dl_f2_u3.bin and dl_f2_u4.bin. There are also lair.zip available on the web that contain the entire DVD-rip structure with video and audio files, not such a file is needed here. Thanks! Greetings from Poland!
