Has to be the most enjoyable twenty five minutes I've ever spent watching a video. A really talented guy. Thanks for taking us along to see Dave's awesome skills. I'm definitely going to be watching this video again and again.
Dave Smith is a master of his craft. Thanks, Dom for introducing him to us. (Also, I'm so glad that he's inserted the apostrophe in "Dom's" - it's been driving me nuts).
The fact that David designed a custom typeface for Mayer’s album is the sign of a true professional. Incredible talent and skill. I’ve always been fascinated by gilding; I guess I’m going to have to take Dave’s class now.
Thank you Dom, This has really has been quite emotive watch for me. My father worked in a factory in East London creating and making this wonderful and fascinating work. He worked through WW2 in a retained occupation bevelling glass to make gun sights for submarines, tanks, and all manner of such item's. Sadly he died quite young, but not before filling our house with bevelled glass in all colours and mirrors. Filling our house with light and fond memories. Thank you so much Dave Smith.😊
I'm ashamed to say I've seen that album cover a thousand times without really giving it a second look, I will certainly give it due respect in future. Many thanks for show casing this man's extreme talent..........amazing !!!
Dom this is truly on of the most interesting and inspiring pieces of content that I have ever watched. I hope you continue to feature different trades and artists. Great Content!!!
Wow Dom, this guy is from another World. I watched your video on Sunday in awe. I have watched more of David's videos. Its just unbelievable how much time and skill goes into these pieces of art. And they're re glass !!!!!
It’s always a joy to see a true master of their chosen craft speak so modestly of their achievements and skills. Thanks Dom. I’m now off to watch his videos 👍🏽
I absolutely love that these old skills are being kept alive. It so reminds me of the type of glasswork that existed on pub doors etc... I would love to have glass panels on the doors in my house with this type of design e.g., living room door as snug etc...
Gosh… I was given a couple of t shirts with the Beckham Miami logo on, when I was working in Miami a few years back…and now I know who designed it… amazing❤
There is a story for everything, very true Dominic. listening to the stories are just as interesting as the piece itself. What a legacy to leave so others can follow. Its documented and will not be lost like it sadly has with other experts in their craft.
Wow. I can't tell if Dave's skill informs the art or his art informs the skill. Either way what a talent and such a pleasure to watch. Thanks for letting me look over your shoulder Dom.
Perfect mirage of art and craft to make amazing things . Great to see, thanks Dom for showing us this. Have sat in meny a Victorian pub and admired the beautiful glass, but had no idea that it can still be produced. What a remarkable artist. Dom your at your best when you interview highly skilled crafts men and women . BBC take note.
What a fantastic insight into a really interesting traditional craft. Your series of videos Dom are really inspirational. Making people aware of these traditional skills is so important to keep them alive. Thank you Dom for taking so much trouble. It will be really interesting to see what Dave comes up with for the Ranalah logo.
Oh wow! I love all your videos Dom (it’s become a bit of weekly YT treat). But this one is very special. I’m now working as a Signwriter so I found this particularly inspiring. Thanks for the link BTW. I’ve now got all of Dave’s videos to delve into too. Can’t wait to see your new logo on some special channel merch - I’ll be first in the queue. I reckon you should put it on a special etched pint glass. 🍺👍
Spectacular! The first time I've experienced the term 'grok': Grok Definition & Meaning - : to understand profoundly and intuitively. Grok was introduced in Robert A. Heinlein's 1961 science fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land. A Feast for the Eyes! What a gift! Thank you Dominic! Profound Goodness! What is David's Favorite Tool?
Intriguing, so many techniques I have not see before. Calming but terrifying at the same time. Imagine putting weeks of work into a piece and suddenly the glass decides to break!
Incredible workmanship. I have always wanted to to something like this but I tend to be a bit heavy handed and my handwriting his atrocious. Great work.
still lots of stuff like that in pubs across the UK , and now we know how its made 👍😊a lot more interesting than the computer generated stuff isnt it 🙂
I've always wanted a gold plated No.2 11:47 I'm relieved the spelling mistake was corrected - I always feel a little sad when I see a 3m sign on the back of a bus with a glaring spelling mistake in it
It's such a pleasure to see such a talented guy and take a peek into his world. Thanks for posting Dom.

Haha! So many people have a problem with that! Dave is clearly better at English than me..
Wow, what a very clever man. Absolutely love the design he did for you 👏

So talented! The designs alone are brilliant but to replicate it in glass is amazing.

I paint reverse on plexi, with clear texture and metallic paint, occasionally with brass leafing. Doing something that big is daunting! Gorgeous work.
Gosh… I was given a couple of t shirts with the Beckham Miami logo on, when I was working in Miami a few years back…and now I know who designed it… amazing❤
